The Divine Commission

The Divine Commission

Introduction:

The Divine Commission:

The Lord has been talking to me in my spirit concerning the lack of soul winning into day’s modern church. This is whyI am doing this teaching, because, we as believers, have forgotten what it is, to be call out from amongst them, and to be divinely Commission by God. We as Christians, are given the responsibility, as a commandment, and commission, by the “Word” to preach the gospel of the good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus commanded us, in the New Testament, before he ascendant into heaven, he charge the disciples to go preach to the lost, leading them to a saving knowledge of whom He is and why He came to earth.

Matthew 28:19-20 King James Version

19.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20.  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Mark 16: 15-20 King James Version

15.  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16.  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17.  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18.  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

19.  So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

20.  And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Jesus Gave the Divine Commission When He Ascendant into Heaven

Jesus gave the Divine Commission to his disciple’s right before they watch him ascend into heaven.

Luke 24:45-53 King James Version

45.  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

 46.  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

 47.  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Remission means to be set from the guilt of a crime that has been committed.

48.  And ye are witnesses of these things.

49.  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

50.  And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

51.  And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

 52.  And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

 53.  And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

The Bible states that it was on a Sunday, Jesus had already risen from the grave, two of Jesus’ followers were walking, and talking as they were heading for the village called Emmaus,(means warm spring) which was seven miles outside of Jerusalem. As they were walking Jesus came up beside them and started walking with them, but they did not know who he was.  The disciples could recognize Jesus the man, but they could not recognized Jesus the I Am, God. The Bible states, the reason they could not recognized him, God would not allow them to recognize who he was, at the time.

The disciples had known him before his death on the cross as a man, but they were not able to understand Jesus divinity as God. They knew that he was Marry son, Joseph was his father, and a carpenter. They even might have heard rumors concerning his birth, whether Joseph was his father. They knew that he was capable of bleeding, because they had watch the Roman soldiers, beat, and strike him, then unmercifully crucify him to a tree. However, they could not recognize him as the risen savior, because God would not allow them too.

Luke 24:16 King James Version

16.But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

Therefore, the Lord had to open up their eyes or understanding to know and recognized who he is. I am learning more, each day as I seek God concerning how to win souls. When God gave me this as I was writing this sermon, I stop. Went into my prayer closet and said, “God open up their eyes, open up my son’s eyes so they can understand why I gave my life to you”. “Open up their eyes, with wisdom, revelation, and knowledge so they can choose you, Lord.” I realize then that the Divine Commission is not a Divine Commission with out asking the Lord to work as we work for Him. I learn that I must pray God opens the eyes of the people I must minister to so they will understand my preaching.

All the two disciples knew, until God open up their eyes, was that they were having an A, B conversation, and this man C his way into it. It took the Spirit of the Living God to open their eyes to see Jesus as God. It was after God open their eyes they then realized that He was not dead, but alive. If they do not see him as being alive, they will see him only as Jesus the man who die on the cross and not as Jesus the God who is alive and active presently in our lives.

As soul winners, we sometimes get confuse, when dealing with certain people, because when we talk to them they talk as if they know Jesus. They do know Jesus the man, but they do not know Jesus the God. They know about Jesus being born in a manger, and three wise men came from afar to give him gifts. History tells us that Jesus crucified, between two thieves, but most people do not know the Jesus as God, alive active in 2009.

The man asks them a question in verse 17

17. And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

Why are you so sad? Sadness written all over their faces, then Cleopas replied, “You must be the only one in town that has not heard what happen to Jesus. He was a Mighty Prophet; you know he was highly favored of God and man. However, the religious leaders had him arrested by the Roman Government; in return, they had him crucified.

19.  And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:

 20.  And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

 21.  But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

Modern day talk, we thought he was the glorious Messiah, we was hoping he was the one,  we sent some of our women to the tomb, after all this is the third day since he was crucified, but none of our people have seen him. Yell we had hoped that he was the one.

It was not until Jesus went back to their dwelling place and broke the bread as they were reclining at the dinner table that they were able to recognize him, he then vanished right before their eyes. Then they knew him as God or Lord. This is what they then said,

Luke 24:32 King James Version

32.And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

It was the next day that the Lord met the 11 and gave them the “Divine Commission” to win souls and preach the gospel. The Disciple was afraid of Jesus the God, they could handle Jesus the man, but they were terrified of Jesus the God.

Luke 24: 36-37 King James Version

36.  And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37.  But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

It was not until after Jesus as God and He had given them the Divine Commission that Jesus opens their minds, which they would be able to understand the scriptures. The preaching of the Word of God would compel men to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Romans 1:16 King James Version

16.  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Matthew 3:1-2 King James Version

1.  In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea,

 2.  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Acts 28:30-31 King James Version

30.  And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

31.  Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Ephesians 2:15:17 King James Version

15. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16.  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17.  And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Revelation 14:6 King James Version

6.  And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Summary:

We learn as we read the scriptures, we can conclude God wills for us, is all of us to win souls to Jesus. God wants to be reconciled back to you and he wants you to know that you cannot save yourself.

God Wants You to Know

(Romans 3:23)

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

God loves you and He want you to reach the Lost for Him.

Acceptance or refusal determines your destiny.

(John 3:36)

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

There is a heaven that we are trying to reach and a hell we are to shun, we want everlasting life, and we will have this in Christ Jesus.

Say after me, Lord I am in need of a savor, please come into my heart and fill me with your Holy Spirit. I accept the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus to atonement for my sins.  I also believe that Jesus will come again to receive the Church in Jesus name amen!.
