The Dynast: a trilogy and more
48"When beasts descend to the level of men, the gods descend to the level of beasts."
What is the Dynast?
The Dynast is a fantasy saga set in the far future when felines and other animals rule the earth after the extinction of the human race. It is the story of Bherek White, who, from humble beginnings rises to become the ruler of the world and more.
How did it begin?
Many years ago, I met Asvin Srivatsangam who showed me his drawings of a character he had created and named Bherek White. To my amazement, he had drawn pictures of many characters who were part of a story and a detailed map of the setting. As I was an artist, he had shown these to me, nothing more, just shared a school boy's dream. Now, happily married and working as a graphic designer in Sunnyvale, Asvin works hard to see his dream get real. He booked me as a cowriter two years ago to get the thing going. He gave me detailed briefs, and lots of money to kickstart the epic.
The Dynast Trilogy
So far, I have written the plots for the trilogy, and completed the first book, 'Dynast: The Rise of Bherek White.' Also its spec script. It is making the rounds of publishers all over, and also seeking representation in Hollywood. So far so good.
Asvin has mighty plans for the Dynast series and he is okay with any break: Animated movie, TV serial, Graphic Novel or regular novel, though I would like to see the book published first.
The Artist
Sebastian Cardoso drew all those characters you see on this page. I write from India, Asvin manages from the US of A, and this wonderful artist draws from Argentina.
He is a magic combination of skill, passion and speed. We are lucky to have him on the team!

"When beasts descend to the level of men, the gods descend to the level of beasts.”
That's very thought provoking. I had to read it over and over. You wrote this? I'd like to see this published as well. It makes you wonder, will the human race ever become extinct?
By the way, I stumbled ya!
Oh, Wehzo, may your tribe prosper! I will tell you. That will be anytime this year.
Did you like that line, Chantel?
I originally wrote that in '89, and it was for a story called Avatar 7.
Then it was: When men descend to the level of beasts, gods descend to the level of men.
The word 'Avatar' means 'descent,' in Sanskrit.
Thank you for your good wishes, much appreciated.
And for the stumble, always useful!
A man of so many talents. Kenny it sounds good...Feline rulers??? what about the dogs mans supposed best friend? How did they fare? I wish it the most success.
regards Zsuzsy
I'll transfer your complaint to my friend, Asvin. Sadly, no dogs. He seems to be a cat lover! :(
And your best wishes, thanks. :)
I love both
I will look forward to the book and the film
Look forwood to reading your exploits soon
Thank you, Frank for your good wishes.
Loved your interview in the newsletter, btw. Great!
Hey Kenny aka Ashok,
Thanks a bunch for this hub.
This is my 1st comment. I was just a bit lazy to hub.
I will keep hubbing from here on.
Hi Kenny, Good luck with your projects. If anyone deserves a break it's you, as you are a very great writer and will soon be in my famous Birthday Hubs;)
Hmm, thanks for not being lazy, Ash. Folks, Ash Watson is the Asvin Srivatsangam of the hub.
O kind Compu-smart, thanks for the good wishes.
Being in your famous Birthday hubs is a nice dream to have!
An agent to represent is us all all we need to get going
kenny, this sounds interesting. I look forward to seeing your great success with this project~
Thanks, Iðunn, and I love your surreal avatar. A piece of visual unpoetry.
this my beloved dingoes in the park, basquiat. it's a socioecnomic and political commentary on how society creates it's own monsters. that and they are just so darn cute. I love those dingoes! :D the little one with the stickiup hair is my favourite.
nice av change, yourself. you look very stable and paternal. that is, of course, good.
Thanks for the explanation of the piece. Rivalled me!
I'm more paternal to the cat than to the kids, LOL!
hehehe. :D I almost put one of my cats in. about half the time I'm at the computer, I have one or both sitting all over me. I'm not that maternal to my cats. sometimes I set the keyboard across them to type leaning back. *blush*
Mine's cruel to me. He walks over the keys, causing my browser window to act very funny.
Hope you don't press too hard with the keyboard.
lol, I try to be gentle, so I give in that much. I'm a light and fast typer. :p if they minded too much, they could get up and move.
I shall love cats with you. aren't they fantastic? :)
here is the basquiat link and there are thumbnailz at the bottom. I quite love this man's work, but then I would. I rather doubt you shall.
I did tell you I had a wide range of art tastes. :p thanks for giving him a shot and even the benefit of the doubt.
Welcome always. Only don't ask me to a hub on his work, hehe. But you have, and I appreciate that because he has special meaning for you.
hehehe. Now I have to wonder what you would do to fernando botero :O I love his "The Butcher's Table". Would that be too far off your areas to take apart?
Not far off, but I don't want to do too much dark or gory stuff in hubs. Mostly only what my Mom approves off. :D
hehehe. actually not all his stuff is gory, but I got caught up in his pol work for that piece. yeah, he's not really your type. I love the tactful way you commented on him for me though.
I fell out tired last night.
I love the concept of the book. I think it would be interesting to see what human traits the cats had retained from their time as pets. Perhaps they imitate humans in some ways without even knowing that some of their customs come from the time when they were household pets.
But no dogs? A shame.
Thanks, and hope you sleep well, Iðunn.
Thank you, Quotations!
Well, that area is not explored in the book.
They behave like humans actually.
There's even racism, as there are races of felines, bears and foxes who sometimes don't get along.
I suspect that it's not even memory of olden times.
When a race becomes intelligent enough to become superior to others, they become stupid in some areas.
Just like us.
Would love to read this book. Congrats and best of luck, I hope you guys are successful soon. Cheers. :)
Thank you, Cgull, for these kind wishes. Shall post any success here, major or minor.
Good luck and keep me informed. I haven't made a dime in six months of hard work.
Kenny,
Very intiguing project. Where do you find the time? It is a good thing to see how far ones abilities can take them... As always, a mentor to many you are.
I will most definitely be following this project of yours. Fascinating psychology to exchange, submit and produce - in such a forum; and in such a unique way.
I enjoy work with rich meaning and that can be interpeted somewhat freely by those who partake... and yet maintain the guide or teacher's influence, else why do such personal things in our lives and with our gifts and time?
You are a giver, a teacher and a good person.

Thank you, Tim. Patience, you will!
Nana, Kathryn, thank you!
You delight us all with such long, thoughtful comments. Mentor? Guess, one can't help being that after a certian age. Don't know. Thank you for promising to keep in touch with the progress of my project, something close to my friend's heart.
You have shared a remarkable insight.
Yes, we touch everything we do. Parts of us live on in most things we do.
A giver, a teacher, a good person...what I aspire to be and what I tend towards: you got it bang on!
God bless you.
Kenny you are lucky to have met Asvin Srivatsangam.Congrats! You have done it.I am sure someone out there is eager publish the review before the book itself on hubpages.Tremendous job on mapwork.Hats off!Keep writing.Wishing you all the very best .
Thank you, Abhinaya, for your good wishes. Asvin also will read this and be delighted. The maps were created entirely by Asvin. These are only a small sample of the exhaustive brief he gave me for 'Dynast.'
Hi Keny, I guess it would be elating to get such rare reviews for Dynast. Dynast is indeed a unique creation. Asvin's brain child has been nurtured so beautifully by you that it sure would create a ripple in the literary world. I hope Bherek white soon gets the popularity he deserves.Great work.
Thank you all for posting your comments.
We are waiting as eager you are for it to come out in some form.
“By the whiskers of the sun!” - From chapter 5 'Vivus in Danger' - is great integration of Sun Worshipping Arthikans and Feline race. It’s one of my most favorite line among the other gems Ashok has provided.
Sorry, Dog lovers, sorry for disappointing you.
Actually, the most dominant race in Arthika aren’t the cats, but SNOW LIONS.
Bherek White is a snow lion.
Sounds very exciting, Kenny! Good fortune with it! :)
Thank you, Aparna, and welcome! I believe that everybody will get what he or she deserves. Good or bad, hehe. The villains in Dynast get what they deserve, for example.
Hey, Ash, by cats I meant big cats,
though some hubbers thought I meant only the home grown variety, hehe.
Thank you, kind Isabella, much appreciate your wishes. :)
Abhinaya, I am pretty fortunate and luck as well to have met Ashok, and then have him write for me.
Aw, Ash, I bet you say that to all the girls, LOL! You are very kind!
Well Kenny, I tell every person, not just girls :)
dunno if you realized you are a Star in my last Hub and I've linked you up through it too.
hope you like it. if you don't, I can delete the box. let me know. :)
I'm a star! Im a star!
Don't you dare delete the box!
I'm so glad. Go look! And I linked to one of my favorites of your hubs.. 10 ways to relax. I've missed you, you know. I get tangented off sometimes and can't get to everyone, but if it helps, I felt guilty for not making it a point to comment with you the last few days. I really enjoy your posting company. :)
Hey, no, no, my fault entirely. I was busy with ordinary work, I only answered comments and stuff recently. A lukewarm presence for a week or more.
That hub of yours is a hive of high activity!
Why don't you put in a url tracker to that link and earn some?
Oh, I forget you are a socialist or something.
Pretty, but socialist or something.
maybe it's the socialism. maybe it's just laziness or procrastination. I haven't bothered to learn how. :p
I'm not really very financially motivated though, so there is that. If you talk me through it sometime like I'm a moron, maybe you could show me how to do that.
:)
I need to get back to some serious Exclusionary Work. I just fixed up my modules.
Sure I will. Tell me when you alight, O poet with feet in the air!
great hubs
I lived. yay!
That you will always do, wherever, however. Wish you lots of life and vitality! yay for you! :)
Wow! Please let us know when you publish. If you still need a good lawyer, I nominate me.
P.S.: Nice pic, I knew there was a casual Kenny lounging around somewhere, and not always so artistically high brow.
Peter, will surely tell you, but hope we don't need a lawyer. If or when I need a lawyer , it's you.
Kenny is casual, and very low brow. As low brow as your beautiful cat, thanks!
truly...very original and interesting scenarios......as it includes, survival, family bonding, love, brotherhood, comradrie, fighting spirit, selfless courageousness.......plus has an enigmatic quality as bherek comes from nowhere infact he starts from scratch and accomplishes so much.....this will appeal all for sure......would be really interesting to know how the wily minister and bherek confront....coz male versus female sort of confrontation will obviously be deadlier than anything.....
this is truly an appreciable stuff....my best wishes for the journey of your project....hope it reaches the destination it deserves to reach........by the way the writing is damn good....with rich words and amazing flow of language.......whether a book form or a movie or whatever i am sure it will be a success.....i truly hope that way......ALL THE VERY BEST TO YOU......SUPERB MAN!....... :-)
Wow, Dhan, that's a super comment! Hope the story lives up to your expectations.
Why don't you join Hubpages and start posting your own hubs? You write so well!
Thank you very much.
I wish you luck in getting this published and on the screen. Keep us posted here as to the progress.
Cheers
Thank you, Jonathan. Sure will post every bit of progress. I have started writing the second book of the series, and shall inform all when that is done. :)
Thanks Dhan for lovely comments. Like Kenny says you do write and express pretty good. You should be sign up at hubpages :)
Kenny, the Book 2 is going more chapters than the Book1 right?
Ah, thanks, Dhan. Sorry for not replying to that kind cooment; it had been marked 'spam' and did not appear in the comments to be moderated page for me.
Yes, Ash, we have a lot more work to do in 2. So does Bherek, hehe. He finds some romance, too, and though he is a brave soul when it comes to swordplay or political strategy, he is ill-equipped to manage love. But everything will end well. I hope, hehe.
I find it interesting! Am waiting for the movie to view it on full screen.
Thanks, Karthik. Where there's a dream, there's a realization. I am counting on Asvin's persistence to make that happen.
Why, does Bherek fubble in love?
Is his younger bro Staur better in handling it?
Yes, persistance is the key word, and I also bully Kenny around and pushing him :)
Don't worry about Bherek's romance, Ash. He will be fine. As usual, the lady will take care of things! I am not revealing anything about his bro's romance here. Send me mail and I'll reply.
Sure sure.. =)
Hey Kenny,
I have a question on Oh, Wehzo, may your tribe prosper!
When beasts descend to the level of men, the gods descend to the level of beasts.
I have a couple of questions here. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/descend)
Descend is come down to right? Then animals come down to human level? But aren’t humans above the beasts?
You have said ‘avatar’ means ‘descend’
I am sorry, I am a bit confused.
And I was a bit confused by your copy and paste, hehe.
You are right about descend meaning coming down. 'Avatar,' also means coming down, as you know.
Humans like to believe that they are the best of beasts, but have you interviewed a lion? And have you seen the eay cats behave? My cat thinks he's superior to us.
In Bherek's world, humans are not the fittest; they became extinct. What I meant is that, when beasts started being as bad as humans, the gods came doen to the level of beasts to improve them. In Dynast, humans are below beasts.
Hello Kenny, what do you think the readers should expect in Book 2?
Well, I am wary of sequels and their taking their readers for granted. I have just finished the scenario and am layering the story with many details: a richer world, deeper characters, a more 'real' ambience...
There is mystery, action and romance. This book should be better than Dynast 1 on many counts, as I, too, have matured a bit as a writer.
Thanks for asking, Ash!

It sounds like this will be something great Kenny. When It's published keep me in mind, I would love to read it, or see it if it becomes a movie.
