My friend, Robin, proudly announced the arrival of her nephew a few weeks ago. He weighed in at 1lb. 11oz. He was born at approximately 27-28 weeks. He has fought hard for life and is still hanging on. He has an infection at the moment but I believe he will be fine.

There are so many advances in medicine these days that allow babies who are born prematurely to survive and thrive as well as those who are born full term. I myself was a preemie at 7 months and that was in 1962.

I want to introduce you to facts concerning premature babies as well as facts concerning partial birth abortions.

I feel the need to do this due to the speculation that our new president will repeal the ban on partial birth abortion. It has long been noted that President elect Obama is pro- choice.

I will attempt to stick with the facts and try to leave my personal feelings on the sidelines. Each person needs to make up their own mind as to how they feel but not before they have information.

Amilla Taylor was born at 22 weeks and 6 days to be exact. She was born in Miami, Fl. on October 24, 2006. Amilia Taylor is now 2 years old and doing very well. She is a happy healthy toddler and just like any other 2 year old.

there are thousands more like her and you can find their stories all over the web.

These extremely early babies are called "micro-preemies". This term is used to describe babies born prior to 26 week gestation. It is quite common with modern medicine for these babies to survive and thrive as normally as full-term.

Sure they need extra special care at first but they do develop and do well.

I also found these twins. Their story is amazing and I will let them tell it as they can do a much better job than I can.

With the possibility that president-elect Obama may lift the ban on partial birth abortion, I jut wanted to be aware of the facts and I wanted to share some of that info with you guys.

I for one am against abortion at any gestational age because I feel it is murder. During my research I heard from a nurse who worked at a partial birth abortion clinic and her stories were gruesome. After birthing the baby they left it in a cleaning room to die.

Now the way I understand it they kill the baby before it is completely out of the birth canal. I'm sure some of you can add to this much more but I was completely appalled by what I have learned so far.

There are so many alternatives to abortion. we really need to teach our young people about abstaining and contraceptives.

Another alternative is adoption. There are what is known as open adoptions which allows the birth mother to receive updates on the child or you can still do a closed adoption if you prefer.

I do realize that there are cases where the mothers life is in danger and these are extreme circumstances. There should be exceptions in these cases. It needs to be decided on a case by case basis. I know there are those who will holler about a woman's right to do as she pleases with her own body. To you I would say that if you do not want a baby then you should take the needed precautions to prevent the pregnancy in the first place.

I'm sure that this is an extremely controversial subject but please take a look at the procedure before you judge what is right.

There are just too many alternatives.
