The Funktual Films of 2007.

Listed from Best to Worst to Unwatchable.

Okay we're gonna try something different today.

Normally, I would never do an incomplete list. The films need time to bang around my head awhile before I truly know what I think of them.

Example: Sometimes I think I love a film, go buy the DVD and months later I don't remember it well. Other films that I don't think I like initially but have scenes in it that I can't get out of my head, prove to have more relevance.

>>>>>NOTE>>>>> The Films in Italics are the ones I actually found entertaining. That last one Cashback is a feature based on a short film about a painter who can freeze time and it has the greatest extended nude scene I have ever seen.

MY Favorites have an ***

I liked 28 Weeks Later. I think 28 Days was better but Weeks was a decent movie. I don't think it'll be winning too many awards buts its a good back up if the rental you want isn't on the shelf. I'm pissed at myself, I've been so busy I haven't seen any of the recent movies that look so good (Blood, No Country, Clayton etc.)

I didn't like Shoot 'Em Up. I'm not a huge action movie fan, but I've really enjoyed some. However, Shoot 'Em Up's gratuitous shooting didn't make up for lousy acting and unpossible feats. We actually destroyed the disc after viewing to prevent an accidental re-watching.

I did enjoy the Grindhouse double feature, and thought Superbad was hilarious. I'm still waiting to see No Country For Old Men, and I hope my long awaited anticipation isn't in vain.

I've missed almost all of these and it's some kind of elitist indie thing with me. I have seen "black snake moan" (excellent) and "alpha dog" (good) and "hostel II" (sue me, I love these movies).

best movie I saw so far this year, and I don't even know if it came out this year, was "Trust".

I caught it on IFC and wanted to rent it for a re-watch and it's unfindable inferring it's unreleased on DVD yet and hence probably relatively new.  Either that or so under-rated nobody else wants to watch it. Heh. :(

WAIT Iðunn are you talking about the incredible TRUST by Hal Hartley and starring the amazing ADRIENNE SHELLY?

About a girl and a baby?

If it is then kudos to you. It is not available on Netflix. But with all the attention that was given to Shelly's untimely murder last year followed by the success of her Film "Waitress" which I rank #5. They should re-release it soon.

That movie TRUST moved me.

yeah, that's the one. bleeding rocked. outstanding flick.

ha, I just wiki'ed it so it ought to be available - 1990. I can't believe this unarguably memorable film isn't available to rent.

You show excellent taste already by a) having seen it and b) loving it too. Dude!

Thank You Dahling!  It's what I do!  If you liked that, you can rent his other films!

I love AMATEUR with Martin Donovan who is in TRUST!

HENRY FOOL (which is about a POEM that threatens national security) with Parker Posey was so good that he did a sequel called FAY GRIM.

His other secret charmer though is NO SUCH THING which is a fairy tale set in NYC starring Sarah Polley!
