What little boy does not love remote control cars? Let’s get real, that all do! But girls love them, too! When I was growing up my twin brother would get remote controlled cars for his birthday and I would get a doll. A doll! When would the grown-ups realize that not every girl loves dolls? I wanted a remote control car! The idea of having power over speed of such a remarkable machine thrilled me. My brother would lend me his car but never for very long.
At the age of twelve, I was wowed for my birthday with an electric remote car. It was the best present ever! After racing it around the house for awhile, I took it to the cul-de-sac for the real test. Boys in the neighborhood peeked out of their windows and soon the street was full of remote control cars. Before long the fun ended because the batteries died and we each had to go home to recharge.

It was a few years later that I found my true hobby and true love! At a company picnic, I heard a noise, I saw kids running in that direction, so of course, I followed. Racing down the road at at least 60mph were two remote control cars. “Wow, technology has really come a long way,” I shouted excitedly over the mix of motors and people cheering. “My remote control car never went that fast!”

A handsome young man glanced at me with a cheeky smile, and said: “Petrol.” Not really sure what he meant I stepped closer.

“Petrol?” “That’s right, petrol remote control cars, that’s what you are looking at.” My eyes must have gone as wide as they would go. My desire was instant. I had to have one of those cars. Seeing my enthusiasm, the young man asked me if I’d like to give it a go. “Are you kidding? I’d love to!” I followed the guy over to where the teenage boys were manning the controls. “Hey Jim, let the lady have a go.”

After giving me a few instructions, he passed the controls to me. I took them into my anxious hands. It felt so right. The car speed up and down the road and I knew I was going to buy one. “Wanna race?” The man offered. “Yes, I do!”

Petrol Remote Control Cars

It was obvious that he had been practicing, and of course his car beat mine…that time. I soon learned that he was the owner of the cars and that his name was Alex. Alex was an expert. During the rest of the afternoon, we talked about Petrol Remote Control cars and the differences between electric, nitro and petrol. One of the most important advantages over is electric is the speed and power. There is no way you’d reach 60mph with an electric control car, plus the fun didn’t have to stop to recharge. The nitro version is more expensive due to the fact that they run on a special fuel.

However, because of the toxic emissions produced by the petrol, you cannot play with them indoors. And who would want to anyway? That’s okay for an electric control car that doesn’t get much speed. Petrol remote control cars are so much more fun. With experience, you can race these babies outdoors. They are sheer power!

Today, petrol remote control cars are my hobby. My first car was used. It was a 1/5 scales XRC-1v2, and I got it cheap for £149. A real steal from Alex! It was an outstanding car with a full assembled aluminum chassis, a powerful pull-start 23cc petrol engine, vented disc brake system, 18kg/cm heavy-duty steering servo and CE/ROHS approved controllers, to name a few.

As technology advances and petrol remote control cars become more popular, us fanatics enjoy better prices. In a near past, one of these babies sold at about £1000! Only those born with a silver spoon in their mouths could afford such luxuries. More and more people are taking up this hobby since the price has drastically decreased. You can get a high performance car, comparable with the expensive ones, for around £200. Now that’s my kind of price!

These fantastic remote control cars is not only my favorite hobby, but is also brought my one true love into my life. Together, Alex and I race our cars for fun and competitions. There are a number of clubs one can join and you can learn a few new tricks off other competitors who are always willing to share their knowledge about parts, repairs, servicing and racing.
If you are looking for a new hobby, check out Petrol Remote Control Cars. There are a number of websites where you can purchase new and used cars in Britain and around the world. All you have to do is Google!
