The Fuzzy Feeilng Chair
55This is a self-confidence and self-esteem activity I use with PreK through 5th graders.
Objective: To improve self-confidence and self-esteem. To help students learn to give compliments, receive compliments, and express their feelings.
Materials: A chair and something fuzzy to drape over the chair
Activity: Discuss what compliments are. Give some examples to students.
Students will take turns coming up individually (if they feel comfortable doing so) and sitting in the chair. Students will say nice things about that person in the chair. The person in the chair can only smile and say "thank you".
At the end of the lesson, ask students how it felt when others were saying nice things about them.
