This is a little story my oldest son James wrote. He wanted to share it, so he had started a blog, but that didn't go over well, so we are moving it here. Enjoy!

The Giant Frog and the National Guard

The Giant Frog
The Giant Frog

By James, age 8

Last night when I was sleeping, a dream came in one ear, went by my eyes, and then out my other ear…

In my dream I saw a giant frog with a horn on its head. He was jumping on my neighbor's trampoline. While he was jumping, I heard him say, ”Thank God I’m a frog, so I can jump."

The frog jumped for so long that the springs got hot and fell apart.

This made the neighbors so mad! They called the government, to get rid of this giant frog.

The National Guard came with airplanes and helicopters, to get rid of him. They tried to drop bombs on the frog, but he was much to fast. He jumped from house to house, all around my neighborhood, and got away; tricking them into bombing the houses he had been jumping on.

This is when I heard him say, “Right now I’m the size of a human, but I can change into the size of a regular frog and hide in better places.”

Then he did change into the size of a regular frog and hid in the forest. He hid so well that they could not find him. The National Guard burned down the forest in order to kill the frog, but the frog was tricky. He escaped from the fire.

The National Guard left, thinking they had killed the powerful, trouble making frog.

Now the frog stays hidden in the forest, most of the time. He only comes out at night, to jump on trampoline, where no one is home.

…So, if you come home from vacation, and all the springs on your trampoline are broken, you will know that you have been visited by the Giant, Powerful Trouble-making, Frog…

So THAT'S what I've been hearing at night! ;-) But trampolines in this neighborhood are scarce, so I think he's been doing belly-flops in the river, instead.

That explains the web prints in left in the morning dew!! :) But there are so many, I can't help but wonder if he's invited some friends to join in!

Good luck to the National Guard, if Beth is right.

Joy At Home,

I think the giant frog must be doing belly flops in the river, because he has broken too many trampolines.

I used to have no feelings towards frog, but today I love every frog on the planet. :)

Nice story. I'm yet to figure out the hidden meaning, but I think there is one. Your son is a talent. :)

Hidden meaning? That's something I hadn't thought of. :) Thanks for the comment Pacal.
