When people think of rock 'n roll, one thing they think of is Gibson guitars.  A very popular model by Gibson is the ES-335.  Being one of the most versatile guitars on the planet, it is truly an icon in the music industry.

The ES-335 debuted in 1958.  It is classified as a semi-hollow body guitar, meaning it has a solid block of wood running down the middle.  These guitars are very prone to feedback, and the solid wood helps cut down on that.

the ES-335 features f-holes, dual humbuckers, usually Gibson's '57 Classics or Burstbucker Pros, input jack on the top, 2 tone knobs and 2 volume knobs, 2 cutaways, and a 22 fret neck.

The body is usually made out of maple, with a solid maple block running through the middle.  The neck is solid mahogany, and the fretboard is rosewood, sometimes ebony.

There are many variations of the ES-335, such as the ES-339, which is about the same size as a Les Paul, but still semi-hollow, the ES-330, which features P-90 pickups, the ES-333, which is the Tom Delonge signature (Blink-182), and many others.  Some of the variants are the same guitar, just with higher-quality components, such as a higher grade of wood, more Mother of Pearl, etc.

Many people throughout history have played ES-335s such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Tom Delonge (Blink-182), Alex Lifeson (Rush), Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes), BB King, Alvin Lee, actor Keifer Sutherland, Chuck Berry, Larry Carlton, Sheryl Crow, The Edge (U2), George Harrison (The Beatles), Eric Johnson, Brian Jones (The Rolling Stones), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones), Eddie Van Halen, and others.  The ES-335 has proven to be a dependable and amazing guitar.  It is truly a must-have in any collection.
