Right from day one, when we arrive into this world of wonder and excitement, there is no guarantees. No one knows what to expect from our future life on earth, or how long we will stay. As we grow, we experience many new things. The place of our birth could mean a difference in our chance at a better life.
Then again, a wealth of money does not automatically give you a better life. It may help, but in the end, it is really up to you and you alone as to what kind of lifestyle you have. I know you are going to say it will give me a better start, true. Many people have won Lotto, has that made them any better as a person. I do not think so. We should all take responsibility for the life we live at least from the time we reach adulthood.
I used to look up to my friends grandparents, simply because I never knew any of mine. Maybe that is why I appreciated them more, whereas they seemed to take them for granted. I used to wonder what it would be like to get old and now I know.
I have just turned sixty-six and proud of it. I am counting my blessings, to have survived so many years. I have learned to take each day now, as it comes. We see so many of our young ones falling victims to traffic accidents, cancer and many other illnesses that I believe reaching the golden age of sixty is a great achievement.
When you are young, you think thirty is old. As you age, you realize that you are only as old as you let yourself be. When we look in the mirror, our reflection is not so reassuring. Never be put off by an outside image; it is how we feel inside that counts more than anything else does.
Yes, we need to improve our appearance to look nice, but our personality and a caring nature is far more important. What is the saying? Beauty is only skin-deep.
I look back over those years, and think of all the things I have tried to do, gaining such a different wealth of experience with each challenge attempted. Whether we are successful, is not as important as in the ability of trying to learn something new.
Creating all those new experiences and enjoying the good times, while doing it, will improve and overshadow the bad and not so good times.
You meet so many interesting people throughout the years, sharing their trials and tribulations with them. By helping them, you will learn so much more about yourself.
I thought being a Nanna, would make me feel old. Instead, it has helped put my life into perspective and keeps me thinking and feeling younger. When the kids come and stay for the weekends or school holidays, it keeps me active, and on my toes that is for sure, and is another set of challenges that we learn to cope through.
Live your life to the full. Take a drive into the country; enjoy the experiences of nature and its elements with so many beautiful things for everyone to view. Go out your back door, into the fresh air. Look at the beautiful colors of the flowers in your garden and be thankful for every new day.
Appreciate what you have, look around you, and make an effort to help improve the life of someone less fortunate than yourself. This will bring you more happiness and brighten their life too.
If you have your health and happiness then you are richer in many more ways than most. Reaching sixty is a real achievement and I am taking each morning a day at a time.
Feel young and you will be that way. Look forwards, still remembering the great times in the past that have brought you to this great age. I am still setting myself the next goal and hoping to get there. Seventy or seventy five would be great, although the golden wedding anniversary would be the ultimate.
Enjoy living your life as one of those who have thankfully managed to reach that great golden age of sixty plus.

Mr M. Thanks you so much for those great words, We are both still looking forwards, yes we cannot help what the kids think. But we know and hope that they get to our wonderful age too, one day. Thanks for stopping by
Good for you, Eileen. I'm 51 but am so far removed from the stereo typa of that age that I can't really identify with it. But, I never hesitant to tell someone my age. I'm proud of it, and proud that I'm helping to completely redefine 50-plus.
Have enjoyed your hub. Thanks for joining my fan club.
I have joined yours.
Your right just be glad your alive at 60.
I had heart attacks when I was 38 and didn't think I would make it to 40.
Becoming a MiMi was the best thing that ever happen to me. They can wear you out but they are the best thing that ever happen to me.
Enjoy every minute of it Eileen !!! Take Care and God Bless...MM
Constant walker, way to go, you keep being proud of it. I wish our young ones would learn to take it steady so they can join our old age.
Moonlake, yes agree with you there they help to keep us on our toes. can be trying at times but still good.
MM del Ropsario. Thanks for that, yes I am going to try thats for sure.
Thanks everyone for popping in to say hi.
I love your attitude Eileen! I agree with what you have written here.
Sweetie pie. thanks for that.
Howdy Eileen,
You're so right, age is more a state of mind than the number of pages we've turned on the calendar. I believe there's a kind of grey-hair revolution quietly going on in the western world, with age being re-defined in so many ways. If I'm honest about it I don't really want to go back to 21 again. THanks for sharing your thoughts as always, great hub!
jedgrey , thanks for those great thoughts. I have to agree with you I would not like to be in my grandkids shoes now either.
I am now. I was not past. I will not be future. The reality is 'It is now and here'. One of the very chronic disease I have got cured of is drifting into past and future. It was in my drinking days I had known only two tenses past and future yesterday and tomorrow. If I go back in past my heart will be again with remorse, sadness, grief, ill-feelings and hatred. In future I always saw Hopelessness, anxiety, worries, boredom and loneliness. But Now I feel that whole of Internet is with me. Hubpages are with me. My fans are with me and most important you are with me.
You have to always think positive with everything. Never think negative.

When I was young I thought three score and ten would be great.
Now I am looking forward to four score. Definitely no four score and ten. My five sons will not understand me and all my friends will have cut the knot.
Accept what is ahead of us.
Yesterday is over and accept it for what it gave to you. You cannot change it.
Tomorrow dangles in front of us and we know not what to expect. Will it be good or will it be bad? Be patient we will find out in less than 24 hours.
Today is the present. Accept it for what it is. A Present. Treasure what God has given you and me.
I glad you have reached this mature age.
Here I was thinking you were only 37. How have I made that mistake?
Thank you
