The Good the Bad and the Ugly

Three very wonderful things happened to us on Sunday.

We were invited to breakfast on Sunday morning by the Sunday school of the church we have attended since 1969, when we arrived in Sydney, with our three sons. (The twins were not due for another 14 months.)

Son 3 who had previously been the Sunday School Superintendent many years ago had instigated this yearly breakfast, to allow parents and grandparents to see and hear these young people act. This yearly breakfast was at least 10 years ago and guess who cooked the breakfast, which was scrambled eggs and bacon followed by pancakes. Yes you are right it was Mum & Dad. It was a scrumptious meal and every body enjoyed it, sometimes for up to 60 adults and children.

Life happens and Son 3 decided to go on World trip for one year, he had a sabbatical He flew To USA, Canada Alaska, Great Britain, Ireland, Wales, France, Europe, South Africa, India . Literally he went everywhere you can go in 365 days. (That is another story)

Someone else was appointed to the person in charge, with original Mum & Dad, still doing this yearly breakfast up to three years ago, where the younger people decided to retire us. We thought it was time also.

Now we have no children attending this Church and Son 3 who is now an adult is traveling in China until Christmas Eve. Val and Frank were invited back to a wonderful time of memories. Breakfast was served for 65 people in all and if, I may say so, tasted even better that in the days we were making it. It was a truly magic period. The dishes were washed and put away. We did not have to do anything. (We love being invited out, and then we do not have to wash the dishes.)

Chairs were drawn up into semi circle and we sat down to watch very small children and much older children sing, recite, joke and act, The things that children like to do when they are in front of adults. We clapped and had an enjoyable time watching these children grow up. One hour of concert and then they were brought up in age groups to receive their Year’s award for their activities. These were presented by their Sunday school teachers. The whole Sunday school performed the play of the three men being placed in the fiery furnace, by King Nebuchadnezzar when they would not bend their knee to his idol. It truly was a great rendition of this little piece of History evolving from the bible. The children enjoyed themselves and all the Mums and Dads were proud of their children.

There was some sad news given out during our Church Service that one of our ladies was not doing so well with breast cancer, more radium treatment. Another of our older ladies was going into Hospital for a breast removal. (Mastectomy) In the midst of fun we have misery as well.

The morning began very well for us two. After our meeting we had to drive some 15 Ks to catch up with Son 1. His Church was having their annual concert and Prize giving and we had been invited for lunch as we were the grandparents of his two Daughters. Much bigger gathering, a lot more children. The lunch was just right, scrumptious, meal followed by even better sweets, All the ladies bring a separate plate (Main Course, Salad or Sweets and they was the dishes. Twice in one day we did not have to wash the dishes. (Life was too good.)

There were plays, jokes, songs, musical items, from piano, violin, trumpet, harp, guitar. The afternoon ran away and finally time to drive home which was in the middle of a hail storm, no damage to us but extremely serious to many people.

The damage was extensive and covered houses, cars and boats. The emergency help people believe it will take them nine days to have all the trees cut or the roofs covered with Tarpaulin. Some 9.000 serious emergency calls generated with storm and its effects. This was the beginning of the bad.

The Bad, we live in the State NSW run by State Government. This government had been elected in March. One of their many pledges to be elected was: -

They would fix our shocking public Hospital situation

They would not sell our Power Stations.

Revive our Public Transport systems.

Those are just three of the horror we live in this state.

This State Government decided

To postpone the building of a new Public Hospitals

We find 200 of the Public Buses are going to be out of action for say two months as they should not be allowed to be on the roads with a major defect.

You would almost believe we were a very poor State, instead of the Biggest in Australia

Just to set your minds at rest they also had in their kitty $15,000,000 they had not spent last year.

The other piece of Bad news was the Power Stations were being sold for $16,000,000,000, which is a lot of money in any ones language.

Still right now, you are breathing a sigh of relief to yourself that this poor horror place NSW will have every thing fix now, so that’s one blessing.

No that is not so. None of the above is going to be fixed out all that money. The Government will probably vote themselves another pay rise.

I do not want to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth about The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. There was another good thing that happened, where a group of young and older people with severe mental disablement had formed a dancing group where the had performed dancing in front of a large group and danced very well considering their disablements. (All Different) They were so happy you were encouraged by these disabled people enjoying themselves so much. They had not let life get them down and they were not complaining.

To The Ugly. All in the space of 24 hours.

In the far North of Australia an Indigenous settlement and here a 10 year old girl was raped by six boys and men.

The female Judge, who was maybe 40, gave each of these six monsters one day in jail each.

The prosecutor requested it so this Judge, Decided that as the Prosecutor had suggested the punishment, she would grant it like some wicked Witch of the North. Her comment was the 10 year old probably said yes and it was consensual sex. Where did this female Judge grow up? Apparently the young girl was raped when she was 7 years of age. What a disgrace.

Incidentally the Prosecutor was involved in another court case with one of the same young men or Boy (16 years) He kicked his young brother in the head, so the Prosecutor suggested he went to jail for six months. I think I would rather be kicked than raped.

The Premier of that State is a newly elected Premier is a Ladt and is calling for all of the Judge's Judgments’ for the last two years and will go though with a fine tooth pick. Good ON YA Madam. There is a huge possibility the Prosecutor will be sweeping out the horse stables from now on. The Judge can not be sacked, who knows she might be given the Ambassadorship of Some Country, where that kind of thing does not happen.

In fairness to the Female Judge, there is a High Court Judge of senior years

Caught going through red light camera for speeding. Fine $175 he has lied, perjured himself and told the court a lady judge who was dead at the time of the incident was driving his car. Told The High Court he was with a prostitute at the time. To date Court costs are likely to be about $100,000 plus loss of Judgeship. Judgment today. I hope he did not act for himself. Wow what are our Judges coming to?.

Case Two

Mention has been made in a previous Hub how we must stop our children from killing each other.

This weekend in Australia 6 young people were killed in Alice Springs or Aires Rock with a 31 year old man driving the car, endeavouring to evade, what is known as a booze bus Random Breath Taking for alcohol. All the passengers were killed and the driver in Hospital. Large consumption of alcohol.

Another four more young people killed on the roads from alcohol. Ten in a weekend just from alcohol

A good thing about the ugly and depressing evening was, we did not have to cook a meal as were not hungry.(I made a toasted Chicken sandwiches with very little washing up.)
