What have I done? After tiring of constantly losing my signal on my Blackberry Curve, through the t phone system... I decided to upgrade yet again, I know I know, most people would be very happy with a Blackberry Curve. I was certainly one of them. Yet my Blackberry did not like my phone carrier. So there really is something to consider when your phone carrier says it works better with these phones. My color choice is maroon which I really like with a clear plastic holder to protect it. Forget the skins (like on ipods)too strange for me and they don't protect anything? The my touch is lighter weight then the G-1 which really is under-rated. Yes there are ways to make the battery last longer, download some conservation widgets or just adjust on settings for lower settings, and buy a car charger and keep it plugged in. Turn off your gmail until you want to download it. All this will save your battery. I downloaded the energy saving application and it automatically adjusted my nice fast 3g phone to a 2g. Well thanks but no thanks! Changed that back then decided to just delete the crazy energy app. I went into my settings and adjusted all that myself. I went app crazy and downloaded about 19 in about 10 mins time. Pretty impressive. So far I've deleted about 4 or so. Some are too similar to ones already in place on the phone. I thought I would love having the side screen to turn and see a wider view, but the page enlarges, but also cuts off needed buttons to operate the page. So I find I'm turning it back to the smaller page to finish things, which I don't like. It worked great with my bluetooth, better than my Blackberry and clearer quality too. I don't lose connections anymore going through low edge areas. I don't have to hold my phone up in my hand to talk on my bluetooth, yes I used to do this... silly huh? Some bugs-not sure why I have to constantly click my menu key to keep unlocking my phone which is already bugging me, may have to find a way to adjust that. I like the way it vibrates when i push the keys to let me know, yes I did make contact with that letter/number. I like having more than one alarm clock again. I miss my little key pads on my Blackberry. I could fly with my thumbs. Maybe I will get better soon texting on the my touch... I feel slow and awkward still, although I love the querky text, I forgot how easy it is to start typing a word, click it and finish when it shows up. This keypad makes me want to use shortcuts though...like U R gr8. I love having two different weather sites to see the incoming rain on radar or even watch a video about the weather..lt was a rare day  if a short, small video went live on my Blackberry. I love keeping track of my messaging better. I love having multiple windows on my touch, but miss my Blackberry asking me do I want to close the browser(and save energy). I have to watch that I don't delete an entire thread instead of just the one reminder item that pops up. I think I've lost a few threads I don't even know about yet. Fun apps I have already used and like include:

Traveler Challenge.. locate cities on a map, seems to be repeating an awful lot, may be queing up for a purchase.

Traffic 66 is great for showing congestion around town. Helped us get from Galveston at rush hour almost to Tomball in one hour by avoiding 'hot' spots.

Star Translate will be great on my next trip across the border or just to translate highway signs I see these days.

my calendar now shows up in color the time slots I have booked which really helps at a glance see whats available or already booked instead of clicking into each day.

I have not been able to get Documents to Go to download an Excel sheet that I usually get from one of my jobs so need to work on that. Had to get a little help fixing the fact that they want you to have a google mail address, and it didn't want to download my two yahoo ones for sure. The online techs are the best though and always get you through quickly. Blackberry techs need the battery out and phone dead first before they will go anywhere with you. Pain in the butt, as my plastic cases snap on to stay and repeated openings make it loose. Not to mention my Blackberry's back side of the case that holds the battery in, never quite fit right. They even sent me another Blackberry when I was having troubles and it didn't fit that phone either. So unless I had a case of some sort, my battery was always falling out.

CAUTION:!! When taking your phone in to have it checked, try and ask them to please remove the battery in front of you and not take your phone in the back. I had just purchased a new battery ($40) worth and it was quickly traded out, or mistakenly switched? to a slightly older battery which oddly only lasted 3 months longer. With receipt in hand, I went complaining to the battery company. They quickly pointed out this was not the battery they had installed for me as it did not have their Interstate label on it. OOPS! Now if I could only remember which place took my phone apart.... Also although the Blackberry Curve and the G-1 use a similar charge plug size, the G1 will get it's battery fried because the charging is not enough for it. Use the charger specific for that phone. My Touch can't even use the G1 charger either which is odd. My touch uses yet another size battery and plug(what is it with the charger plugs constantly changing shapes?!) But the battery so far lasts all day which is great even with lots of internet usage.

The sound on this phone is hard to get loud, or maybe it's the plastic case. I am taking it on my first road trip this weekend so we will have plenty of time to play. Of course I bought the car charger, wouldn't want to lose power halfway there. This phone feels more like a phone again though with the internet attached. My Blackberry more like a PDA with the phone and a little internet attached. I find I like having the internet and live action ready available more than I thought I would. Since I have arthritis in my fingers, the my touch is user friendly more than the Blackberry on typing since I have one or two fingers I use.

the camera does not have a flash like my Blackberry Curve did with both camera and video. That was a nice feature in a dark car for taking movies of the night...heh heh.
