The Great Christmas Tree Debate, Real Versus Artificial
59
There's a whole lot to think about before you choose your Christmas tree
Hi there and thanks for dropping by. I write about mens gifts on my website Find That Gift For Him, and that includes Christmas trees.
I spend a lot of time on the internet. I run a website about mens gifts, and look at all sorts of gift ideas. For Christmas, birthdays and so on. And recently I have been looking at Christmas trees.
I have started to understand that there is a debate out there about Christmas trees. That many people feel that the type of Christmas tree you choose for Christmas really matters. That a choice of Christmas tree isn't just a simple preference, that it's quite a big decision.
The choice is between a real Christmas tree and an artificial Christmas tree.
For many it's just a matter of personal choice. Do they prefer real trees, or do they prefer artificial ones? Which looks better? Which is cheaper? Which is easier? Which is less messy? Which one do the kids like best?
That's fine. But for many there are far more issues involved in the decision when a choice has to be made between a real Christmas tree and an artificial Christmas tree. There are all sorts of issues to consider before you head on out to your local Christmas tree store and buy a tree.
So what exactly are the considerations before I buy my Christmas tree?
What are the environmental considerations? Is it more environmentally friendly to buy real or artificial? Is one or the other more carbon friendly? Are there issues of toxic chemicals involved with either or both types of tree?
Are there employment issues involved? Who grows the real trees? Where are they grown? Who makes the money? Where are the artificial trees made? Who makes the money?
Are there issues related to Christmas tree disposal? Can either type be recycled? What happens to them if they are recycled? Where do they go? What do I do with the tree after I have finished with it?
What other issues are involved? Should I be involved in buying a tree that needs to be killed for my benefit for a couple of weeks? Are there alternatives to a cut tree if I still want a real one but don't want to kill one?
Which tree is less messy? Which tree is easier to put up and use?
Which one is easier to deal with once Christmas is over?
Can I get allergies from a real tree? How about an artificial Christmas tree, can I get allergies?
Which option is cheaper? I need to buy a real Christmas tree every year. Is it cheaper to buy an artificial tree and keep it for years?
Are there fire dangers with real trees? What about artificial ones, can they be a fire risk?
Which type of Christmas tree is easier to decorate?

I see what you mean, there's a lot more to buying Christmas trees than meets the eye.
See what I mean? There's a lot to think about before you make your Christmas tree purchase isn't there? A lot of it is just simple practical stuff related to convenience and price, but there are also some serious considerations for the person who is environmentally and socially aware and wants to make sure they make a good choice based on strong environmental considerations.
I consider these issues on my website, if you'd like to read more about it come and do so.So when you're making your next Christmas tree purchase spend a little time thinking about it. Decide whether any, and if so which, of these issues is important for you and research it a bit. Then visit your Christmas tree store to buy your tree, or perhaps the local Christmas tree farm. Then you're more likely to be sure you've made the right decision about your tree.Where can I find out more about the great Christmas tree debate?
There's a few places you can go to find out more. I have several articles on my website about this.

I love the real thing... but I cannot bear another year seeing it dying at the end of the season... We bought a plastic Christmas tree for this year!
