Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

God commanded Christians to spread the Good News (the Gospel) to everyone and to give everyone the opportunity to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. This is not optional and there is no excuse for not doing it. The bible was quite clear on following the law. In almost every case, we are commanded to obey the laws of the land and to treat our leaders with respect because they could not be leaders without God putting them there. The single exception is when the law violates God’s law.

When Babylonian law commanded worship of the king Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo disobeyed. When the same law forbid worship of Jehovah, Daniel prayed to him at the top of a tower where all could see. Pharaoh ordered the murder of male babies and God blessed the midwives who refused. When Rome oppressed the early Christians they ignored the law and spread the Gospel. The Apostles continued to preach in prison. All down through history God has outranked man made laws.

Missionaries

When Christians are called to go someplace and teach the gospel, establish churches, do good deeds in God’s name, etc, we call them missionaries. These brave men and women go through all the world teaching the message of Jesus Christ in some of the most dangerous locations on earth.

Missionaries bring God’s love, food, water, medicine, technology, education, new farming techniques, and all other manner of good deeds and resources to those who do not have them. They teach the gospel, lead people to Christianity and baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

Missionaries go where ever they are called. They teach and provide services in places like Australia, New Guinea, New Zealand, France, Spain, Brazil, the Philippians, Japan, Tonga, and the list goes on.

Missionaries also take the message to places where it is actively suppressed. They are spreading God’s word in China, Africa, Vietnam, North Korea, The former Soviet Union, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the list continues.

Believe it or not there are even missionaries in the United States. In fact there are missionaries to the United States from other parts of the world.

Crime

The criminal activities of missionaries are quite notorious. In addition to leading people away from their traditional religions, missionaries distribute bibles, teach Jesus is the only way to salvation, spread the ideals of equality between races and sexes and so on.

Missionaries stand up against traditions like honor killing of teenage girls that kissed their boyfriends, child sacrifice, slavery, prostitution, child abuse and so on. These barbaric criminals spread the love of Christ wherever they go and freely give their help to those whose societies have marked them for destruction.

In other words, they follow God’s law where the local laws are evil.

Justice

There has been a recent trend in the media to paint these missionaries as criminals. The news reporters accuse them of violating local, international and even United States law in spreading the Gospel. They treat Christians as evil for converting people from pagan religions to Christianity even if the religion they turn from involves rape, mutilation, murder, and other insanities the civilized world would call barbaric.

As Christians, we cannot sit idly by and allow these missionaries to be smeared in the media. We must make a stand for God and for Jesus Christ and say “NO MORE”. We will not stand for our people being slandered. We will not stand for accusations of criminal activity for spreading the Gospel. We will not ignore the politically correct stupidity that calls Christianity evil.

We can no longer stand silent when the world attacks our ministers for teaching the bible. We cannot be still when preachers are prosecuted for spreading the word. We will not remain at peace when our missionaries are being slaughtered for helping others.

When a former Muslim converted to Christianity and the nation of Afghanistan sought to kill him for it, American Christians brought enough pressure on governments to save him. We can do no less when missionaries in South America are accused, by our own media, of committing crimes by converting natives to the Way of Jesus Christ.
