The Great Confession
63Lost in Translation...
It amazes me how much is ‘lost in translation’ when your compare the Original Hebrew/Greek Scriptures with modern English bibles. The full impact of words are often hidden from the eye of the average reader.
When one begins to study not just the bible itself, but the words from which their bible was translated from, it’s like opening a door to another dimension; many times beyond full human comprehension…
Philippians 2:9 Wherefore, also, God highly exalts Him, and graces Him with the name that is above every name,
10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should be bowing, celestial and terrestrial and subterranean,
11 and every tongue should be acclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord, for the glory of God, the Father
This is an amazing verse! Unfortunately, though it may be read in the Churches of Christendom, it is most certainly not believed by any. How many Christians truly believe that “every tongue should be acclaiming that Jesus Christ is LORD”? I’ve heard pastors and theologians say things like, well yeah, and if they don’t, God will break their knees. As if the Almighty Creator of the Universe has to resort to ‘breaking knees’ in order to bring a person to submission. Sadly, Christendom has not a clue just how powerful God truly is!
This verse isn’t merely saying that every person will utter the words “Jesus Christ is LORD”. The word “acclaiming” [“confess” in the AV] comes from the Greek 'exomologeo', and it means “to acknowledge or (by implication of assent) agree fully”—Strong’s #G1843.
This word means more than just uttering a few words; it’s a confession! Notice a few other verses in which we find this Greek word exomologeo:
Matthew 3:6 and they were baptized in the Jordan river by him, confessing their sins.
Mark 1:5 And out to him went the entire province of Judea, and all the Jerusalemites, and they were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins."
Acts 19:18 Besides, many who have believed came, confessing and informing them of their practices.
Luke 10:21 In this hour He exults in the holy spirit and said, I am acclaiming Thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for Thou dost conceal these things from the wise and intelligent and Thou dost reveal them to minors. Yea, Father, seeing that thus it became a delight in front of Thee
Truly, truly, there will be no ‘broken knees’ on the Day of the LORD, there will be a Worldwide Confession unlike ever before witnessed; and it will include everyone!
But what about those who’ve never heard? Answer: They will hear:
Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of Yahweh's glory, as the waters are covering over the sea
Matthew 9:37 Then He is saying to His disciples, "The harvest, indeed, is vast, yet the workers are few.
38 Beseech, then, the Lord of the harvest, so that He should be ejecting workers into His harvest."
This Great Harvest will happen… but LORD, who believes our report?—Isaiah 53:1
Who has ears to hear, let him hear!
