These Are My Top Five Greatest Female Vocalist

#1 Ann Wilson of the 1970's band Heart is the greatest female singer. From "Dreamboat Annie" to "Jupiters Darling" to her own solo album "Hope And Glory" her vocal range magnifies the depth of her talent. To go along with her beautiful voice she is a guitarist, Flutist and a great songwriter. I would have to say her voice is limitless and timeless, from classics like "Crazy on You", "Dreamboat Annie", "Love Me Like Music", "Dog and butterfly" and Even her Cover of "The immigrant song". I adore her music and enjoy whenever Heart does covers of some of the greatest Rock Bands. (plus she sings it better than the original). She's a real passionate singer that doesn't need all that technology to correct her voice. She can outsing most singers Male or Female. She's is a beautiful, powerful performer and my greatest Inspiration.

#2 Aretha Franklin is a great singer, She's another force to reckon with. The talented singer has sung so many great gospel and soul hits particularly "RESPECT" and "You Make me feel like a natural woman". Her voice reflects emotion and passion. She is another timeless classic and you can never get tired of her music. Her voice is A beautiful instrument and she undeniably delivers every performance. She is A big inspiration on a lot of singers like Joss Stone, and Alicia Keys. She continues to be The Greatest Female Soul Singer ever by far.

#3 Joni Mitchell Can paint a picture with her music from "Yellow Taxi" to My all time favorite "A Case of You" from the Album "Blue". She has made many great albums such as "Ladies of The Canyon", "Court and Spark, and "Heijira". She's sung many great songs and sang with Joan Baez and Graham Nash. She is a great singer and her songwriting is transcendant and very poetic, her music can takes you to another place. She remains to be a major influence on many folk guitarist and songwriters.

#4 Alicia Keys has made some good songs in her short career. Her song "If I ain't Got You" has a Timeless essence to it. Many have said she's a legend. I wouldn't say so yet, but she has written some pretty good songs. "Troubles", A song From Her Debut Album "Songs in A minor" exemplifies deep and pure passion. She continues to be a hit maker with her latest album "As I am", But my favorite album that made me fall in love with her music would have to be "The Diary Of Alicia Keys". I especially loved her cover of "Walk On By/If I was Your Woman". She is one Talented Musician.

#5 Carole King not only a great singer but a really great songwriter, with hits such as "Locomotion","You Make Me Feel Like a natural woman", "I feel The Earth Move" and "Jazzman".She had great collaborations with James Taylor and wrote songs that many people cover and love. She's adored by many and she makes you want to go out and sing. She a very good performer and was the first person to inspire me to take up piano.

There are other acceptional Singers such as Sheryl Crow, Joss Stone, Nancy Wilson (Heart), Suzi Quatro, Gladys Knight, and many more. These are a few among the best. They are favourites of mine as well. Sheryl Crow's Albums "The Globe Sessions" and "Detours" are my favourite and her best albums. Sheryl Crow always delivers great songs . Joss Stone's Album "Introducing Joss Stone" is a Great album to which shows off her vocal capability despite the fact that she uses pitch correction. Nancy Wilson Accompanied by Sister Ann Wilson Sung one of the best covers of Led Zep's"The Battle Of Evermore". Nancy Wilson Sung The 80's Hit "These Dreams" I'm Not a Fan of The 80's Music but she sings that very well and not to mention I love her solo/intro to "Crazy on You". Gladys Knight Is also a very good singer as well. I love her songs especially "If I Were Your Woman" and "Midnight Train To Georgia". And Last But not Least, Suzi Quatro, I enjoy her Music, songs like "Can the Can" and "48 Crash" and her cover of Elvis Presleys "All Shook Up". There are many female vocalist out there that have so much talent that many look up to and many people adore. These Women Have timeless Music and will outlast for generations.

Yep. You've done it again. I love all of your picks. And thank/bless you for NOT including the likes of Celine Dion or Mariah Carey. Although I have grown to respect Christina Aquilera.

BTW, I'd add kd laing to the list. Her voice is amazing.

Another great hub that deserves a sequel. MM

Followed MM here :-) (Seems today we're following each other around. I'm the ugly duck and she's the swan, of course).

I always admire people who can put together lists of "favorites" or "best" or "most interestings". I get all tongue tied when it comes to picking. I was thinking I would have maybe added Gladys Knight when I got to the bottom of the hub :-) "Midnight train to Georgia" is one of my all time favorites (at least I can pick this one!).

Thanks "Mighty Mom" for your comments. I do like K.D. Langs voice. I would most definitely not put Celine Dion or Mariah Carey on the list. Theres so much talent it's hard to list ten but I know who the number one will always be :-) Keep on coming! I like your comments!
