The Greatest Film Directors and Their Resumes ~ Woody Allen
65
WOODY ALLEN
From 1966 to Present, he has made over 40 Films! He is also recognised as one of the most talented screenwriter's of all-time. His gift for comedy is steeped in tradition from slapstick & vaudeville to farce. His trademark of breaking the fourth wall and talking directly into the camera is stolen regularly.
- What's Up, Tiger Lily? '66 ~~~ In his debut he re-dubbed an old Japanese action movie International Secret Police: Key of Keys into a story about a secret recipe for egg salad.
- Take the Money and Run '69 ~~~ This film is presented as a documentary on the life of an incompetent, petty criminal named Virgil Starkwell.
- Bananas '71 ~~~ Dumped by activist girlfriend, Fielding Mellish travels to San Marcos where he ends up joining the rebels and eventually becomes President of the country.
- Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask '72 ~~~ Movie that is very loosely based on the book by David Reuben which was his muse here.
- Sleeper '73 ~~~ Man comes out of cryostasis and explores the future. Orgasmatron Booths included.
- Love and Death '75 ~~~ Weird one about the Napoleonic invasion of Russia.
- Annie Hall '77 ~~~ The Classic Love Story! Best Picture - 1977 featuring Diane Keaton's Oscar winning performance.
- Interiors '78 ~~~ Unfunny homage to Ingmar Bergman's family and the consequences of divorce.
- Manhattan '79 ~~~ Our first glimpse into dating young girls is right here for all to see.
- Stardust Memories '80 ~~~ First real Auto-biographical movie.
- A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy '82 ~~~ Weekend party at the Summer House leads to various entanglements
- Zelig '83
- Broadway Danny Rose '84 ~~~ ZZZzzzzz
- The Purple Rose of Cairo '85 ~~~ About a movie character who falls in love with a member of the auduence and then walks out of the film into real life. Genius.
- Hannah and Her Sisters '86 ~~~ Dianne Wiest wins the first of 2 Oscars in this one.
- Radio Days '87
- September '87
- Another Woman '88
- New York Stories '89 (segment 'Oedipus Wrecks')

- Alice '90
- Shadows and Fog '92
- Husbands and Wives '92
- Manhattan Murder Mystery '93 ~~~ This one is half-genius.
- Bullets Over Broadway '94 ~~~ One of the Best! Oscar nominations for everyone. Chazz Palmintieri & Jennifer Tilly are a comic duo who should be re-united soon.
- Mighty Aphrodite '95 ~~~ About tracing the blood parents back to a funny prostitute played perfectly by Mira Sorvino.
- Everyone Says I Love You '96 ~~~ The MUSICAL with Alan Alda, Goldie Hawn, Drew Barrymore & Tim Roth. The funeral scene is one of my favorites.
- Wild Man Blues '97 (Documentary about the music behind the man)
- Deconstructing Harry '97 ~~~ Auto-biographical look at the guy who can't love anything meaningful except himself.
- Celebrity '98
- Sweet and Lowdown '99 ~~~ Sean Penn is brilliant in this story of Django Reinhardt's biggest competition.
- Small Time Crooks 2000 ~~~ Quite possibly the Funniest with Jon Lovitz, Hugh Grant, Tracey Ullman and Elaine May
- The Curse of the Jade Scorpion 2001 ~~~ Eh. Helen Hunt (READ: Not Funny at all) is hypnotized into loving arch-enemy Woody.
- Hollywood Ending 2002
- Anything Else 2003
- Melinda and Melinda 2004
- Match Point 2005 ~~~ Drama about a tennis pro and his lurid affair with sexy American played by Scarlett Johansson.
