Obama to propose strict new regulation of financial industry

06/17/2009

Enough is enough how much power does the President realy want and is the government geting in over its head in the private sector.

The Obama administration this week will propose the most significant new regulation of the financial industry since the Great Depression, including a new watchdog agency to look out for consumers' interests.

Under the plan, expected to be released Wednesday, the government would have new powers to seize key companies -- such as insurance giant American International Group Inc. -- whose failure jeopardizes the financial system. Currently, the government's authority to seize companies is mostly limited to banks.

critics say the easing of the financial crisis that gripped the country last year appears to have reduced the momentum for some of the most far-reaching proposals, such as merging several banking regulatory agencies.

They're also concerned that the proposed agency whose mission would be to protect consumers against financial misconduct wouldn't have the authority to do so for a wide-enough range of products.

"This is too little, too late," said Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), based on his understanding of the plan. "It's going to be way less than it should be."

On Monday, Obama administration officials sketched the outlines of the plan the president is to unveil Wednesday. They said it would seek to reduce gaps in regulatory oversight, rein in the use of mortgage-backed securities and other complex derivatives, reduce incentives for companies to take excessive risk and give the government new power to quickly intervene during any future crises.

"We had a system that proved too unstable, too fragile. . . . Those are things we have to change," Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner said Monday at an economic forum in New York.

The administration also is expected to propose creation of a regulatory body for financial products marketed to consumers, such as credit cards, whose oversight is now spread over several agencies.

In addition, the administration wants to impose regulation over the market for derivatives -- the murky financial contracts used to hedge risky investments -- including new reporting and disclosure requirements. Institutions that originate loans would be required to retain 5% of the credit risk when the loans are turned into securities.

All the proposals would have to be approved by Congress in a process the administration hopes to complete by the end of the year.

In the heat of the financial crisis last year, there were widespread calls for the government to merge several banking regulatory agencies into one to reduce gaps in oversight and stop what might be called "regulator shopping."

For example, AIG was able to choose the Office of Thrift Supervision for its non-insurance financial business when it bought a small savings and loan in the late 1990s. That office has been viewed as a weaker regulator, and was strongly criticized in a government report this year for ignoring repeated warning signs about Pasadena-based IndyMac Bancorp before the thrift's failure last summer.

"I'm concerned that people think we've stepped back from the brink of disaster and so they're not as committed to seeing real meaningful reforms adopted," said Barbara Roper, director of investor protection for the Consumer Federation of America.

For their part, business groups have worried that the Obama administration might go too far in responding to the financial crisis with new regulations, stifling the market and hurting financial firms at a time when the economy is still weak.

They have been pushing back against some of the proposals floated by the administration, lawmakers and consumer advocates, such as a consumer protection agency for financial products.

But Scott Talbott, chief lobbyist for the Financial Services Roundtable, which represents large financial institutions, said there was still a strong impetus in Washington for regulatory reform and dismissed the suggestion that the Obama administration had missed its chance to implement it.

"This has moved at lightning speed," he said. "You're talking about a historic piece of reform."

Administration officials also have dismissed suggestions that they had moved too slowly, saying they had pushed ahead despite calls from some quarters for them to wait until the end of the crisis before acting.

"There are people who believe that the wrong time to reorganize the fire department is while the fire may still be burning," Lawrence H. Summers, chairman of the White House's National Economic Council and Obama's chief economic advisor, said in a speech Friday. "The president has concluded very strongly that that view is wrong. . . . Experience teaches that once the crisis has passed, the will to reform will pass as well."

Douglas J. Elliott, an economics fellow at the Brookings Institution and a former investment banker, said there was still enough political momentum to pass major reforms. But as the financial crisis has eased, there is less ability to tackle the difficult turf battles involved in merging regulatory agencies.

For that reason, Elliott said, the Obama administration appeared more focused on setting new rules and principles than on the blowing up the government's regulatory structure.

"There are entrenched interests that benefit and are allied with each of these agencies. . . . That just makes it hard," he said.

"As far as I can tell, the administration doesn't think it's as important to get that structure right as to get the rules right and make sure people are focused on acting the right way."

The march on to socialism in our country continues the government needs to stop and stop now. Common Sence people where has it gone.

Obama Job Claims Over Exagerated

06/09/2009

Saved or created has become the signature phrase for Barack Obama as he describes what his stimulus is doing for American jobs. His latest invocation came yesterday, when the president declared that the stimulus had already saved or created at least 150,000 American jobs -- and announced he was ramping up some of the stimulus spending so he could "save or create" an additional 600,000 jobs this summer. These numbers come in the context of an earlier Obama promise that his recovery plan will "save or create three to four million jobs over the next two years."

Associated Press

The president should 'save or create' more jobs in Cleveland.

Mr. Fratto sees a double standard at play. "We would never have used a formula like 'save or create,'" he tells me. "To begin with, the number is pure fiction -- the administration has no way to measure how many jobs are actually being 'saved.' And if we had tried to use something this flimsy, the press would never have let us get away with it."

Of course, the inability to measure Mr. Obama's jobs formula is part of its attraction. Never mind that no one -- not the Labor Department, not the Treasury, not the Bureau of Labor Statistics -- actually measures "jobs saved." As the New York Times delicately reports, Mr. Obama's jobs claims are "based on macroeconomic estimates, not an actual counting of jobs." Nice work if you can get away with it.

And get away with it he has. However dubious it may be as an economic measure, as a political formula "save or create" allows the president to invoke numbers that convey an illusion of precision. Harvard economist and former Bush economic adviser Greg Mankiw calls it a "non-measurable metric." And on his blog, he acknowledges the political attraction.

"The expression 'create or save,' which has been used regularly by the President and his economic team, is an act of political genius," writes Mr. Mankiw. "You can measure how many jobs are created between two points in time. But there is no way to measure how many jobs are saved. Even if things get much, much worse, the President can say that there would have been 4 million fewer jobs without the stimulus."

Mr. Obama's comments yesterday are a perfect illustration of just such a claim. In the months since Congress approved the stimulus, our economy has lost nearly 1.6 million jobs and unemployment has hit 9.4%. Invoke the magic words, however, and -- presto! -- you have the president claiming he has "saved or created" 150,000 jobs. It all makes for a much nicer spin, and helps you forget this is the same team that only a few months ago promised us that passing the stimulus would prevent unemployment from rising over 8%.

It's not only former Bush staffers such as Messrs. Fratto and Mankiw who have noted the political convenience here. During a March hearing of the Senate Finance Committee, Chairman Max Baucus challenged Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on the formula.

"You created a situation where you cannot be wrong," said the Montana Democrat. "If the economy loses two million jobs over the next few years, you can say yes, but it would've lost 5.5 million jobs. If we create a million jobs, you can say, well, it would have lost 2.5 million jobs. You've given yourself complete leverage where you cannot be wrong, because you can take any scenario and make yourself look correct."

Now, something's wrong when the president invokes a formula that makes it impossible for him to be wrong and it goes largely unchallenged. It's true that almost any government spending will create some jobs and save others. But as Milton Friedman once pointed out, that doesn't tell you much: The government, after all, can create jobs by hiring people to dig holes and fill them in.

If the "saved or created" formula looks brilliant, it's only because Mr. Obama and his team are not being called on their claims. And don't expect much to change. So long as the news continues to repeat the administration's line that the stimulus has already "saved or created" 150,000 jobs over a time period when the U.S. economy suffered an overall job loss 10 times that number, the White House would be insane to give up a formula that allows them to spin job losses into jobs saved.

"You would think that any self-respecting White House press corps would show some of the same skepticism toward President Obama's jobs claims that they did toward President Bush's tax cuts," says Mr. Fratto. "But I'm still waiting."

Conyers weighing probe of ACORN

 6/4/2009

Opponents of the liberal activist group ACORN have found an unlikely champion in House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr., who is clashing with his own party to pursue hearings on accusations that the group has committed crimes ranging from voter fraud to a mob-style "protection" racket.

"I still want to do it and I probably will," Mr. Conyers, Michigan Democrat, told The Washington Times on Tuesday.

He dismissed the argument made by fellow Democrats that accusations of voter fraud and other crimes should be explored by prosecutors and decided in court, not by lawmakers in Congress.

"That's our jurisdiction, the Department of Justice," Mr. Conyers said. "That's what we handle - voter fraud. Unless that's been taken out of my jurisdiction and I didn't know it."

Mr. Conyers' continued commitment to hearings bristles Capitol Hill Democrats because it threatens to rekindle criticism of the financial ties and close cooperation between President Obama's campaign and ACORN and its sister organizations Citizens Services Inc. and Project Vote.

The groups came under fire during the campaign after probes into suspected voter fraud in a series of presidential battleground states, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Mexico and Nevada.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, New York Democrat and chairman of the Judiciary subcommittee with the jurisdiction to conduct the hearing, said he does not think Congress is the place to hear criminal charges.

"It's not our business to say ACORN is terrible or ACORN is wonderful. That's not a congressional job," Mr. Nadler said. "The evidence - I've listened to it - I think most of it is nonsense. If it's true, it's a law enforcement matter."

However, he said he would bow to Mr. Conyers' request for a hearing. Mr. Conyers said he hasn't "pushed him yet."

ACORN officials, who have consistently denied any wrongdoing, said they welcomed a congressional probe.

"We are confident that in any setting where the facts are laid bare that the right-wing campaign to smear ACORN's good work will be exposed," ACORN spokesman Brian Kettenring said.

Mr. Conyers' comments were made on the same day the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) sent a letter to the Judiciary Committee to press for a hearing to "get to the bottom of the allegations" against ACORN.

Cleta Mitchell, RNLA co-chairman and a Washington lawyer, said she was pleased when she learned that Mr. Conyers had pledged to follow through with a probe of ACORN, though she remained skeptical the chairman would take on the Democrat-allied group.

"I hope this is a real hearing and not a whitewash," she said. "If there is a panel comprised primarily of those who want to bury the truth about ACORN, then it won't be a real hearing."

Mr. Conyers, a fierce partisan known for his drive to continue investigating the Bush administration, first shifted his position on ACORN at a March 19 hearing of Mr. Nadler's subcommittee that explored issues from the 2008 presidential election.

He suggested a congressional probe after scathing testimony that the nonprofit group was violating tax, campaign-finance and other laws by, among other things, sharing with the Barack Obama campaign a list of the Democrat's maxed-out campaign donors so ACORN could use it to solicit them for a get-out-the-vote drive.

The proposal was met by resistance from Mr. Nadler, and Mr. Conyers had not publicly pressed the matter since then.

Mr. Conyers previously defended ACORN. In October, he condemned an FBI voter fraud investigation targeting the group. He questioned whether it was politically motivated to hamper a voter-registration drive targeting groups likely to support Mr. Obama's candidacy.

The testimony that provoked the change was delivered by Pittsburgh lawyer Heather Heidelbaugh, a member of the RNLA executive committee.

She also testified that the organization provided liberal causes with protest-for-hire services and coerced donations from targets of demonstrations through a shakedown it called the "muscle for the money" program.

Ms. Heidelbaugh spearheaded an unsuccessful lawsuit last year seeking a court injunction in Pennsylvania against ACORN's voter-registration drive for the 2008 presidential campaign. She appeared as a witness at the request of Republican committee members.

The accusations against the group were based entirely on sworn court testimony late last year by ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief. No ACORN officials testified at the March 19 hearing, but they have dismissed Ms. MonCrief as a disgruntled, low-level employee who was fired for stealing money from the organization.

North Korea at it again

 6/2/2009

North Korea is at it again a missile was seen being trucked to its launch site. This Missile is an ICBM capable of hitting Alaska or California the TaoPaeDong2 is a 2 stage missile. U.S. Forces are on heightened alert and F22 Raptors have been deployed along with Patriot Missiles. It has also been reported that they have restarted there Nuclear reactor and that they may have enough plutonium for 7 bombs.

Although they have been warned not to proceed with this launch it appears the Wacko in charge wants to pick a fight with someone. FYI Japan has raised its defence force posture to a higher alert status they have also requested Patriot Missile Batteries to be deployed.

North Korea Threatens Nuclear War

 5/28/2009

The North Koreans are at it again - this time it's not just another missile parade down North Korea's road. They now claim that they have carried out an underground test of a nuclear bomb that Russian officials said was comparable to those that obliterated Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The world awaits Barack Obama's reaction -- what powerful vernacular will he use to convince North Korea to disarm?

The North Koreans have had 5 missle tests in two days and have restarted there Nuclear Reactor. This just might be the test that Vice President Joe Biden had been talking about all I know is we better keep our eye open for the impending MUSHROOM Clouds.

George Bush It's a Good Time to be You

5/25/2009

I am very proud of the Former President he has not said a thing not a word it takes a lot of stamina and courage to be so quiet.Let's face it, this is shaping up as George W. Bush's best month in years. The last time the president enjoyed this kind of vindication was when a bedraggled Saddam Hussein was pulled from a hole in the ground by American soldiers in 2003. All of Barack Obama's efforts to cast the Bush administration as an immoral stain on American history have not merely collapsed, but collapsed on the heads of Bush's most public and vocal critics. The non-stammering Nancy Pelosi talking about Bush last July: "God bless him, bless his heart, president of the United States that was then this is now a total failure, losing all credibility with the American people on the economy, on the war, on energy, you name the subject. How about national security? It turns out that support for a criminal investigation of Bush policies yielded an important finding after all: Pelosi's own long-standing agreement with the Bush administration's toughest measures. On that point she's in sync with the rest of the country. A Recent Poll found that Americans approve of the interrogation methods Bush okayed by a margin of 50% to 46%. In other words, she didn't have to go through the condemnation charade to begin with. Nancy Pelosi is a fake and a foney and she knows it remember at this time Congress had an approval rating of 14% so it only makes sense she would put on an act like this.

"Hillary Clinton went to Baghdad three weeks ago to reassure the Maliki government that the Obama administration will not abandon Iraq. On top of that, Gen. Ray Odierno said the U.S. might "maintain a presence" in some Iraqi cities beyond the scheduled draw-down date if the Iraqis request it. Did Pelosi mean the other war, in Afghanistan? Obama has done an outstanding job of taking that challenge seriously, and for those keeping score, his pick of Gen. Stanley McChrystal (the man who hunted down Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Iraq) has met with the gushing approval of Dick Cheney.

And speaking of Dick Cheney: Not only has he proved to be an important and articulate defender of the Bush administration's national-security policy; his repeated interviews and statements have done Bush the service of drawing fire away from the former president. Bush not only looks wise these days; he looks modest and thoughtful as well. And Cheney's (denied) request to declassify more CIA interrogation memos explodes the myth of the "most secretive administration in American history."

Former President Bush I salute you not only for your service to our country but for your conviction to Honor Duty Country Thank You.

Goverment Grows and Our Liberty Shrinks

5/21/2009

This is a fact you can look it up I think Thomas Jefferson may have put it better than I. The bigger we allow our own Goverment to Grow the Less Liberty we have take for instance the Stimulus Package Most of the jobs to be created will be Federal jobs not private sector jobs. Now what will help the economy is growth in the private sector not the Fed. The next problem is Government involvement in business. This is a very bad idea and it is proven not to work. When the government tells the private sector what they can make how much to spend look out you get what is happening in Detroit.

If we want to salvage what is left of the economy Washington needs to stay out of business they should concern them selves with governing and not meddling in areas that do not concern them. Like I said I cant recite chapter and verse but we do lose more and more of our Liberty every day that we allow the Government to get bigger and bigger. We need Washington to get back to abiding the Constitutionof THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are founding fathers would roll over in there Graves if they could see what has been done. I fail to understand how we let the Government get away with it I do not think there is anything in the Constitution that ever remotely allows them to do what they have done.

I feel its time to get back to basics before its all gone and we just become a matter of HISTORY and our own BAD JUDGEMENT.

Harry Reid another Joe Biden??? Think before you Speak

5/20/2009

The idiocy of Harry Reid is well documented, but apparently the Democratic Senator from Nevada is trying to take things to Joe Biden-esque levels. Reid completely outdid himself yesterday in a press conference, as he gave health reports on Senator Kennedy and Senator Byrd that neither Kennedy or Byrd camps would comment on. After that colossal screw up, Reid humiliated himself by mutilating the party's position on Guantanamo and the 'release' of detainees in America. It's a miracle this man still has a job. I do not think he has a medical liscence so whats that about.

The Nevada Democrat reported that one of them, Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., was absent because he was receiving a new round of treatment for his brain cancer. Asked if the cancer was in remission, Reid replied, "As far as I know, it is, yes." Kennedy's office refused to confirm Reid's comments or make any statement in response, the public silence a classic Washington disavowal any medical information which is private and protected by HIPPA.

Reid was then asked about Sen. Robert C. Byrd, at 91 the longest-serving senator in history, who was hospitalized over the weekend for an infection. Reid reported that Byrd was to be released from the hospital Tuesday or perhaps later in the week."Senator Byrd is improving," responded his spokesman, Jesse Jacobs. But doctors in consultation with his family, have not yet determined when or if he  will be released.Reid also mangled his party's position on the congressional news of the day, that Senate Democrats would join their House counterparts in withholding the money President Barack Obama needs to close the Guantanamo Bay prison until Obama comes up with a plan for relocating its prisoners. But Reid went further than saying he wanted to see a plan for the money before Congress approves it. "We will never allow terrorists to be released into the United States," he said. No one, of course, was talking about releasing terrorism suspects among the American populace. Imprisoning them, perhaps, but not releasing them.

"Part of what we don't want is them in the United States," Reid clarified but digging himself into a bigger hole by departing significantly from some of his colleagues and administration officials. "We don't want them around the United States." Did the administration put Democrats in an awkward position, asking for the money before setting out how it would be spent?

Even the post-gaffe handling of Reid's remarks was awkward. Spokesman Jim Manley, who previously worked for Kennedy for years, swept through the press gallery to clean up after his boss. He retracted Reid's assessment of Kennedy's condition. He clarified Reid's comments about the Guantanamo Bay prison. Kennedy was diagnosed a year ago with incurable brain cancer and has undergone multiple treatments that wouldn't likely be necessary were the disease in remission. He has nonetheless been working behind the scenes on a sweeping health care reform bill that is one of Obama's top priorities.

Byrd, meanwhile, has survived several rounds of rumors about his deteriorating health. He has relished rebutting them with cutting statements or just by showing up on the Senate floor to vote. It's not the first time Reid has walked into a wall of trouble for commenting on a colleague's medical condition. Who's voting and who's not is crucial in a chamber where 60 votes can shut down filibusters. Reid also spun positive when discussing the health of South Dakota Sen. Tim Johnson after the Democrat suffered a life-threatening brain hemorrhage in December 2006.

In May 2008 Johnson had returned to the Senate needing a wheelchair, Reid revealed the rest of the picture. He told Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central that Johnson had been in a coma snf near death three or four times. Foolish man makeing diagnosis like this I am glad he is not my doctor.

On Tuesday, Reid's world continued to spin, with ample backpedaling. "Senator Reid will leave the diagnosing to doctors," Manley said late in the day. "But he does look forward to the prospect of Senator Kennedy's return to the Senate as soon as he is able." Manley stated that Tomorrow is another day. So if the Democrats  keep shooting themselves in the foot like this it should be a no brainer they should all resign. Whats with the democrats are they all mentaly ill or just plain stupid.

Obama Foreign Policy Unclear

 5/19/2009

President Obama meet with the Israeli Prime minister to discuss ongoing Palestinian talks. The prime minister is also concerned with a Nuclear Iran. I would question how we are dealing with the Iranians thus far. It is obvious that they are hell bent on dominating the region and that they do have a goal of destroying the Jewish State. Now some one should explain why we are talking to them at all Israel is our Alli in the region and our support of the Jewish state should be a priority.

We need to make a concerted effort to make sure that Iran does not get the BOMB we should increase the UN mandated sanctions to keep them from obtaining any more Nuclear information. As you and I know the Israelis are very capable of taking care of them selves they have done it before they sure can do it again.

The Middle East is no place to experiment we need a definite plan that can achieve results after all the region has been in turmoil for thousands of years.

Obama Flips and Flopps on Campaign Promises

 5/18/2009

The President has flip floppedon just about every campaign promise he has made. His latest is the time table for closing Gitmo. Mr Obama has pledged to release the detainees by January however their is no plan in place as to where to send them. I don't no about you but not in my backyard. It is a well know fact that not even the countries of origin what them.

The shifting stances on National Security issues such as the release of sensitive documents and photos. No one is sure of the policys to follow since it seems the administration cant make up its mind on what to do. The President needs to be more decisive when it comes to these matters because other nations will view this as weakness not strength.

The Obama administration gets a failing grade in foreign policy and also in domestic policy so where are the detainees head to a prison near you!!!!! I say let the military tribunals move forward if they are convicted lets find an obscure little island some where and drop them on it after all why should our tax dollars be spent on them.

Pelosi's War with the CIA

05/17/2009

Did you see Nancy Pelosi's press conference I did and let me tell you she was nervous, and very confused and shifty about what she knew and when she knew it. This was a disaster for her she cant remember the truth. She contradicted her self in the first 30 seconds she cant remember her briefing in February she was also contradicted by Porter Goss and also the Obama CIA memo that she was told about he enhanced tactics. Mrs.Pelosi has started a war with the CIA and it will be her demise. She was internally contradictory and kept referring to her staffers briefing. Her claim that the CIA lied to her is absurdsince others present said they were told that the enhanced interrogation tactics were being used. Mrs Pelosi is either incompetent or dishonest or both and she is going to get a lot of people killed if this is not stopped.

I don't know about you but I think she has picked a fight she cant win, she is a danger to us all and this will just help her to implode. Now I would guess that this will make her a Liability to the administration as opposed to an asset I would not want her on my team especially when the current CIA director says she was briefed truthfully.

The Presidents press secretary is having problems also dodging questions about Mrs. Pelsoi so apparently these accusations by her is having its effect on them. When the Whitehouse dodges the question you no the firestorm is coming.

Democrats Running for Cover

 5/16/2009

Since Mrs Pelosi statements of denial and betrayalDemocrats are running for cover from the fall out. Now that Pandora's box has been open the fun shall begin do the democrats have any idea what she has done??? Like a plague every one is trying to distance themselves from her and her comments. I ask all my readers please let your representatives know of your displeasure with her cowardly remarks, lets keep the heat up on her until she resigns her position. This is our chance to stop the madness.

President Obama is also flip flopping on a lot of issues especially the military tribunals and releasing of sensitive pictures that could insight our enemies. It is my opinion that we are actuallystarting to see that the new administration has some wrinkles in its armor. We can not afford to let up we must keep the pressure on so they will do the peoples business and not there own agenda. The Republicans are calling for investigations of ACORN and there strong arm tactics we need to press this forward also an investigation into Mrs Pelosi conduct.

GM and Chrysler have hit rock bottom they are closing dealerships nation wide and are filing chapter 11 bankruptcy and we gave them how many billions of tax dollars. We should have let them file instead of giving them the money now we areall left holding the bag. It just goes to prove a point I have made all along the government has no business going into the private sector and trying to run a business. Now we have more unemployment to deal with and more families destroyed because of it. Lets all tell Washington enough is enough stay out of the private sector and no more bail outs. The stimulus is failing and the country is weakening.

We Have Been DECEIVED

5/15/2009

We been deceived by the Democrats. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and Charlies Schumer to name a few are at it again. I think the medical term is dementia or the onset of Alzheimer's, they cant remember what they were briefed on. This selective memory problem is a ploy to advance what ever agenda they have so I think that for medical reasons they should all resign. You it is funny selective memory that is, its very convenient that it only occurs when necessary and only for the Democrats.

These screw balls have screwed up royally and do you know who pays the price??? you and I do thats who. This complete denial is unacceptable they should lose there jobs immediatley before they do any more damage. The truth is they cant handle the truth and if they could they would not know what to do with it. Washington is screwed up if this continues I fear for my family and yours.

Mrs Pelosi do the right thing resign your position go to confesion and get medical treatment you are a prevacator you represent yourself and not the people of California or the United States.Mrs Pelosi you will be the main reason for the down fall of this Nation you need to consider this you have done us all a disservice please get your self some help before it is to late.

Universal Health Care???Socialised Medicine

5/14/2009

Socialised Medicine in Our Country??? Your joking right I think not. I have spent sometime in Canada and I will tell you for a fact it does not work. I have heard the stories and witnessed it first hand. When people are forced to wait for health care you are staring disaster in the eye. Will it fly in our country I don't think so the AMA is a powerful group. We have the best health care system in the world however it is very expensive so what can be done to cut costs I think I may have a solution.

1. The first and foremost problem is Malpractice suits. Congress needs to enact some guidelines as to settlements brought on by litigation. If we cap these settlements to a reasonable amount premiums will drop.

2.Police up Medicare reduce fraud and over charging and premiums will drop.

3.Stop doctors from over charging on Insurance claims.Develop a Reasonable charge for Doctor visits and Prescription drugs.

4.Stop the Hospitals from over charging develop and implement reasonable charges for service's.

When I think about it the insurance companies have plenty of money all those premiums they collect. And what about the claims that people don't make or doctors who don't have or never had a claim against them. I think if we apply a little common sense we can drive health care down. The Obama administration is looking into health care reform please do not let them Socilaise Medicine it does not work it does not work in Canada or The UK. FYI a lot of Canadians come to the US for there health care.

Obama Poll Rating rideing high???

 5/12/2009

You know I think that all the polls showing how popular the current administration is are all for the birds. Who are they asking??? What segment of the population are they talking to??? I am not sure but I will say this I think its all skewed to help push forward there agenda. Lets talk facts since the election we have lost more jobs, the auto industry is in shambles, the banks are in trouble, the stock market is down, so explain why the polls are so high. I know and you know that we cant go on blaming the other guy as I said before there is enough blame to go around the only problem is no one can accept that.

The Obama administration has take advantage and will continue to do so of playing every crisis that comes up to there advantage another words don't let a crisis slip by that can be used to your advantage. This is just power-playin Washington press forward with your agenda and the people will just go along with it. Well I am sorry it does not work that way the people have a voice and it should be heard the polls are not telling the whole story all they tell is what the biased media that is pro administration loves to hear. The absolute truth would be nice for a change because Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely. I can see that some of the Democratic leadership is scouring to CYA over a lot of different issues that will be coming up shortly.

New American Revolution

05/11/2009

A New American Revolution what a novel Idea all we need to do is implement it but not in a violent fashion in a civil fashion. You cant tell me that everyone agrees with whats going on in Our Country you need to speak your mind and let the politicians know how you feel. Stop keeping it bottled up speak up and speak out before we find us in a whole we cant get ourselves out of. Lets not be lead off a cliff like lemmings we need to make a stand.

Their is a lot going on and I fail to understand why people are not madderthen hell at what is going on. Republicans should be calling for an investigation of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid they were both aware of the tactics being used to extract information from prisoners at Gitmo. Another problem is ACORN and its subsidiaries numerous accounts of electionregistration issues and the fact that they will have a lot to do with the next census have surfaced. We also need to inquire as to why the Democrats especially Barney Frank are seeing to it that they are receiving a lot of federal dollars. Its my opinion that wide spread voter fraud ma be uncovered and the Democrats may be in the process of covering up their actions.

ACORN seems to have become very powerful and is Obama administration friendly it is behoving of us to call for a full investigation of this group. Most of the people working for this group have criminal records and there is also the possibility of over a million dollars that is missing. I want everyone to take a good look at this group they are not in the best interest of the country the election registration irregularities are enough to call for an investigation.

Politicians Not to be Trusted

 5/10/2009

My fellow Citizens I am of the opinionthat their is not one politician in Washington that we can trust to do the peoples business. We have senators and congressman that have made a career in Washington for themselves and most of them are lawyers. Every body screams for term limits well we have elections every four and six years so why are we not turning these representatives out of office. We need new and fresh ideas not the politics as usual that we have I do not care if you are a Democrat or a Republican or even Independent if we are serious about change this is where we have to start.

The next set of elections are in 2010 we need to send the Obama administration a clear message we need to be united in our efforts and aggressive in our agenda. The only way to implement change is to vote out of office every career politician, we must elect those who will represent clear change with a new direction on domestic policy. We must tap the Internet and make people aware and keep them informed so that the wool can not be pulled over there eyes ever again. I ask all of you to get involved after all I believe in the People I believe in us we need to take responsibility and do what needs to be done Clean Washington up Clean Washington out follow the constitution and get on with it.

Its Up to US

 05/09/2009

Its time to get real people. You want Change , I want Change , But not the change we have. What are we going to do about it??? Lets all make a stand and do what we have to call your Congressman and Senator tell them we are not going to take it anymore. Tell them to stop what they are spending and concentrate on fixing the economy. United we stand Divided we fall lets all get to it.

America Confused???

 5/08/2009

The Obama administration is cutting 17 Billion dollars from its 2010 budget mostly programs that are outdated or have no relevance depending on how you look at it. I did find it interesting that one cur revolves aroundpolice officers and I am sure it will get some attention from the police unions. The point I guess I am trying to make is only 17 Billion out of 387+++ Billion stimulus package. Their are more cuts that can be made you know it and I know it. Pork barrel spending is out of control lets be real some of the programs are laughable and are not worth of even one dollar. Washington needs to enact some spending discipline no pet projects no pork do you get it I do. The speaker of the house and the rest of her Democratic cronies need to get off the pot and remove things that are just so unnecessary and frivolous.

Time to wake up America we are being flushed down the toilet little by little every day. I don't know how you feal about it but it seems to be slipping away more and more each day I fear for your family and mine. Do you realise we will each be responsible for paying back $147,000 per family to pay this new debt back. The government could have given each of us a Million dollars per household and only spent 300 Million just think we would all be debt free instead we owe and owe and I do not know how I am going to pay this debt back. I am a brittle diabetic all I have is my disability from ssi and we are just not cutting it. I pray every day for a miracle and no one comes to bail me or you out. In my humble opinion its a crime what Washington is doing no one seems to care so I guess I will keep Praying for that miracle.

The Blame Game

 5/07/2009

Have you noticed all the finger pointing lately. Democrats blame Republicans, Republicans blame Democrats. Instead of fixing the mess we are in like little children in the school play yard they fight and call each other names. Quite frankly I am sick of it, we send them to Washington to represent us and instead they represent them selves and their foolish egos. Did you see the results of the stress tests on the Banks??? Is anyone looking at the commercial or credit card side of this problem??? In my opinion they have their heads in the sand Look at good old Barney Frank yesterday he is in complete and total denial of the facts. As chairman of the Banking and Finance committee he knew that there was a problem in the sub prime market especially with Fannie and Freddie Mac.

Politicians make you laugh they know what is going on and then they Dennie it how crazy is that. Lets take for instance the possible prosecution of the legal eagles in regards to what is and what is not torture. They were asked their opinion  after careful research on their part they gave their opinions and we went through with it now remember since 9/11 we have not been attacked says something doesn't it. I dont know about you but I think these ladies and gentlemen in Washington need a dose of reality they just don't get it. Wake up people stop the blame game there is enough to go around each party is guilty and now the Democrats are totally out of control.

A Country in Crisis

5/05/2009

Since the elections in November I like many others em brassed the Historical path we embarked upon and would give the New Administration a chance to bring Change we can Believe in. I like many others said Change is good however Radical change not so good. I myself could care less about the color of a mans skin I was brought up to believe that we were all created in Gods image so flesh tone plays no part in this. The new administration has take us down a path that I feel opens this countryup to another 9/11 attack and I believe it is coming very shortly. Why do I feel this way? We are closing Gitmo so what do we do with the prisoners? We openly begin talks with Iran who still consider us The Great Satan. We release documents of a sensitive nature on how we extract information or techniques we use to obtain information from our enemies. The administration claims that this is the Moral high ground that we do not torture but what is torture?

I feel as if we have opened the door to Pandora's box once the enemy knows that you have changed your methods of obtaining information you ability to obtain good intelligence goes right into the toilet. We Have remained safe due to the efforts of the intelligence community and the men and women of our armed services. We need to let these people do their jobs especially now with what is going on in Pakistan. If the Taliban gain control of that countries Nuclear Weapons it will only be a matter of time before one finds its way here to us. The civil unrest in Pakistan should make all of us nervous it does me. I feel we are making some very real foreign policy mistakes and we should keep a watchful eye on our enemies if not we could find our selves staring down the barrel of a gun that we will not be able to stop,

Please take all of this into consideration, the economy is hurting, civil unrest in the world, pandemics, famine, wars and rumors of war, does this sound all to familiar. Our wake up call has been sent its not getting any better Bigger Government means tyranny we need to change our direction before its to late.

The Change that is not forth comming

5/04/2009

Did you watch the Sunday talk shows??? Who's is Running Treasury Tim Geitner or Rob Emmanuel??? Know body knows for sure and it is certain that we will continue to spend Tax dollars to do more bail outs after the report on the stress tests of the banks are released. Wake up America we are sliding ever closer to socialism then before we need to recognise that We The People are in charge we hold our destiny in our hands not those in Washington. Keep informed on the goings on The Democrats are going to push their agenda forward and there is no way to stop them unless we all Band together and tell them to STOP. Wake up America and smell the coffee before we loose anymore of our freedom. The question of the day is Obama the AntiChrist well your guess is as good as mine, personaly I will keep an open mind to it how abou you.

We are living in a time where our own government is attempting to take over the private sector. If we allow this to happen we will be staring socialism in the face. Bail out the Banks, Bail out the automotive manufacturers spend spend spend how about a Bail out for the common man we pay the tax they get to spend. Personally I am sick of it every day Washington adds more coal to the fire and turn a deaf ear to what the people are saying if fact the President said that we don't get it and that certain media outlets will not cover him. Lets face it America we need to stand up, we need to fight back in a non violent way and get it across to the Politicians in Washington that we not going to take it anymore. Remember they work us not the other way around. The Democratic party and the Republican party equally share the blame for the mess we are in but the current administration has taken us to a new level, a level of Big Government that is unsurpassed. We The People need to stand up and have our voices heard we need Washington to abide by the Constitution of The United States of America the bigger the Government gets the more Tyrannical it becomes. The Founding Fathers gave us the frame work within which to work and we have now allowed the politicians to step outside those boundaries. When Washington starts dictating what someone should be paid or pumping more of our Tax Dollars into the financial institutions should send shock waves across this Great Country of ours. The Change that was promised is a slap in the face of every voter in this country yes we wanted change but not like this.

The news media in this country needs to get back to the basics Who, What, When, Where and Why most are very biases and are pro President Obama. One network and only one network seems to get it and that is the Fox network. I was very happy that they did not cover the First Hundred Days of the Obama administration. It took courage and guts to make that decision let the other networks pander to an administration that is making us less secure and less of a World Leader. We are headed in the wrong direction we need to save the ship if we want to prosper and survive. Look at what is going on they take advantage of every crisis that comes up handedly blame it on the past administration and make decisions that will make our grandchildren and their children pay for. America it is time to Make a Stand.

Swine Flu Pandemic or Panic

5/03/2009

The question about this Flu is simple is it the real deal or is it being blow out of proportion. I have seen what appears to be and increase in people going to Clinics and to the Doctors office this is a good thing however we need to exercise some good old common sense. Wash your hands with soap and water (not the anti-bacterial type), cough into your sleeve between the forearm and elbow, If your sick stay home, drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest. If this is the pandemic they have been worried about just remember they said the same things about SARS, Bird Flu and a Swine Flu strain before this one came about. I am not a physician and only offer commonsense advise but heed this every time they do this the pharmaceutical companies make a ton of money. What role is our Goverment playing in all of this.

The WHO and the CDC will keep us all well informed if and when a pandemic is declared as I understand it we are not close to it as of yet however if this variety mutates into something else that is when you and I will have a problem. I am taking this opportunity to advise you to take those necessary precautions to protect your family after all they come first. Our present administration will take advantage of every crisis that comes up and will use it to their avantage.

We saw Chrysler file Bankruptcy to re-organise were we not foolish to give them tax payer dollars would we have been better off letting the auto manufacturers all file. What a mess we have and it seems to get only worse everyday Government has no business getting involved in the private sector they should leave well enough alone. I urge all Americans to stand up be dam mad and tell Washington to STOP what they are doing and get back on the wright track.

We all need faith right now we need to believe in whom ever we see as the Supreme Being we to pray for the sake of mankind. God will not fore sake his children if this is The End Times we are living in we must all be strong and help one another we will preserver we will survive. I pray for the children I pray for you I pray for the World in which we live in.

Where some saw only an Iraq body count, others experienced better schools and NHS Politician of the decade? Even to ask the question in a purely UK context, as guardian.co.uk has been doing this week , is to be struck by a fast-changing world in which no European leader can solidly lay claim to the mantle of global statesman during the turbulent noughties. No Chirac, Schröder, Berlusconi, no ...

The journey to find the truth behind the kidnapping of the five British men kidnapped in Iraq in May 2007 has been a long one. We at Guardian Films set out to find out why they had become the forgotten hostages. Was it because they were security men and a computer programmer working for private military companies in Iraq? Was it just because they lacked the glamour and profile of the BBC's Alan ...
