56Why Heidi and Spencer are worse than Hitler
OK, so maybe they are not as bad as Hitler; but Heidi and Spencer from THE HILLS are certainly on par with Goebbles. One cannot buy laxatives at the drugstore without being accosted by their plastic smiles, their tawny locks, their empty eyes. One look at them on you can walk away without making a purchase as their faux smiles and deliberately posed candid shots are enough to melt your insides, but not in that good way. What do they do, anyway?
If I remember correctly, HE used to be the manager of Brody Jenner, but no more, what with them having a very inane falling out; SHE has had copious amounts of plastic surgery and has some sort of clothing line at Anchor Blue (a concept that really makes me long for Miller's Outpost). So, why can they afford their BMWs and Benzes? It's not as though they work for a living-and their self aggrandizement knows no bounds. They have sold their souls to the highest bidder via photos and reality shows and personal appearances at Le Deux and Rain. But who cares, after all?
Why are we, the public, so obsessed with the twit and his phony fiancé (are they still together? Anyone. . .)? I think it is the same reason why we cared about Devine Brown (you know, Hugh Grant's hooker) and another Heidi- Ms. Fleiss. Fifty years ago people were paying huge attention to the deportation of Lucky Luciano for "white slavery." G.B. Shaw's play, "Mrs. Warren's Profession" is the playwright's second most revived work, and that, too, is about a prosti. We love the Hooker(s) with a heart of gold. Well, none of the examples above reveal any heart of gold, so maybe, in the US, we just love hookers.
Do not misunderstand me- neither of the characters from that particular piece of MTV programming are prostitutes (notice how I call them characters, what with them being so completely manufactured); but they have completely sold their dignity and their integrity for cash. They have given over themselves to whomever will pay for the pleasure and then what? They are used up and thrown to the curb with a little money in their pockets, but nothing left inside. He is so incredibly whiney and to listen to his interactions with ANYONE on the show just proves to me that I wasted my time in college, you know, learning how to think. Here he sits, on a sofa in a house that he was kicked out of, basically putting his fingers in his ears saying LALALALALALALALALA, and capping it off with "you know how stupid you sound right now?" She is no better: Vacuous, empty stare; willingness to pine over an idiot and let him manage HER carrier; oh, yeah, and her voice could cause a meth-addict to crash. These are not the magnetic, effervescent, TALENTED folks with whom we should be obsessing.
I could be wrong, though. I'm just saying. . .

I refuse to even say their stupid little nickname because I do not even want to remotely say anything close to their names. Those two idiots are geniuses for one reason only, they have fast cellphones that can get photographers there to catch them at disneyland wearing mickey mouse ears or watch them register to vote at the DMV. They are smart in the sense that they make so much money off of pictures of themselves, but what is truly sad is that they are just pathetic people that we love to hate. We as americans love to hate and have drama and issues with anything so we love to hate them. The fact that you even have a blog on them shows that they get under your skin. The more we hate them, the more we can't ignore them and the more they make 2 million in one year. The key is for society as a whole to ignore them, but we can't because for some reason, we need to know what stupid thing they said or did next. For example: stupid girl shouted out that she is voting and supporting for John McCain. Now, why she would pick politics is silly because she is so dumb and her statements that she made were great for wiping one's ass. Second, he told her not to tell anyone who she is supporting. Why not I ask? She is not as famous as Johnny Depp or Julia Roberts or someone that we care about learning about who they are interested in politically. Most of all, the fact that her first song was shot by him and showed on Youtube just goes to show that once the hills is gone, they are going to flop down that republican river that we call "no man's land."
i do hate that i hate them. you are right that i have bought into the media hype, and that sickens me. But i think that the real reason i wrote this little blog (it is little, in the scope of things)is to really have us look at ourselves and realized just how important the things we fetishize are. Water-cooler conversation aside, we as a society are fafr too involved in the lives of the insignificant. I have stopped looking at these magazines and put a book in the bathroom. i encourage everyone to do the same.

Im proud to say I have never seen (not even for one second) a episode of the Hills. So my feedback on this topic is nill. I just like to type and cheese is melty.

i love this blog. as much as i like the hills, i reallt cant stand speidi. they are so manufactured and fake and frankly its quite annoying. you can tell by her body language and the way she acts on the show that she is not in love with him. often it looks like she doesnt even really like him that much. you said it best when you said, "sold their dignity and their integrity for cash."
