The Haunted World of El Superbeasto Review
66I have been striking out on the recent few rentals I have receive from Netflix. I was all geared up to watch two movies on Friday, hit Zombieland on Saturday and end the weekend with this review. Unfortunately, the first two movies ate an ass and I had to turn them both off within twenty minutes of the movies. Zombieland rocked so that was good, but then there was this one.
The Haunted World of El Super Beasto is an animated film directed and written by Rob Zombie. El Superbeasto is actually a comic book written by Zombie, be he decided to make an animated feature out of it…why not?
The voices in the film have some notable stars such as Rosario Dawson, Paul Giamatti, Danny Trejo and of course…Sherri Moon Zombie. Does Sherri have to be in all his movies; just asking. Also if you are a fan of the Devil’s Rejects or House of 1000 corpses…there are some cameos from Captain Spaulding and Ottis Driftwood.
The movie is about El Superbeasto (Tom Papa), a famous luchidor who is on a mission to save Velvet Von Black (Dawson) from Dr Satan (Giamatti). Superbeasto is full of himself and is pretty much out for pussy wherever he goes and has to rely on his ass-kicking sister Suzi X (Sherri Zombie) to do all the dirty work.
Dr Satan was a nerd who was in love with Suzi and tormented by Superbeasto in his youth which transformed him into…well…the evil Dr. Satan. He needs to find the perfect evil woman who has the mark of the devil (666) on her ass which luckily Velvet Von Black has. The reason for Superbeasto trying and rescue Velvet isn’t because he is some sort of superhero…it’s because he wants to fuck her and she has a great rack and ass. That’s pretty much the gist of the movie.
I didn’t love this movie…I can’t say I really liked it a whole bunch but it was alright. The animation was good and it was somewhat original I guess. I just felt as if this movie was just trying to be shocking for the sake of being shocking. There are sex scenes, tons of tits being shown, men going down on women, strip clubs, robot boners and lots of sexual references throughout which is fun for some but it got a little old for me.
I didn’t hate the movie or anything, I was just looking for more, but with the Halloween movies from Zombie…should my expectations have been high to begin with? I was hoping that this would be a return to greatness for Zombie since I actually enjoyed and appreciated his first two films, but I guess this isn’t even in the same realm of traditional horror films. I don’t know if this film even fits into my standards of only reviewing horror films to begin with. I mean, the setting of the film is somewhere that there is zombies, ghosts, Frankenstein types and other weird and supernatural shit…but…whatever.
Take it for what it’s worth, if you want to see graphic cartoon sex with some jokes thrown in there in a supernatural make believe land…this could be a fun movie for you.

good review, but yeah the movie was a steaming pile...
it felt like zombie just sat down and said, "I'm going to make every single sexual and immature joke I can possibly think of in 90 minutes and at some point, at least one or two of them HAVE to be funny"
it was a bore and i was THOROUGHLY disappointed. i for one though zombie's take on Halloween (the first one) was at least entertaining and i was expecting him to go banana-sandwich in a world without boundaries
this movie is the ultimate in tedium
