The attack begins with the horseman settings fires onto buildings within the town. Players must put out the fires using buckets of water

  • The horseman will come into the village and must be fought. He is level 11 and non-elite

There is only one trick to this hub: it contains the best quest guide for you to get all the treats of WoW Hollow's End! Read on, please!

Meet the Horseman!

Race Undead Level 70 Elite Health 67,000
Race Undead Level 70 Elite Health 67,000

Im a WoW newbie... what is Hallow's End anyway?

OMG! Hallow's End is THE seasonal event of the year in WOW. It celebrates real world Halloween, goes from 18th to 31st of October and has some of the coolest quests of the game... Ah, did I already mentioned the GREAT LOOT, too?

Facing the Headless Horseman!

The best quest / event of Hallow's End is a quite easy one actually! You just need to be level 65 or higher (being 70 is recommended) and round up a party of five - pretty easy even if you don't have a guild, it will be crawling with people near the event! Then:

Go to the Pumpkin Shrine located in the Graveyard Wing of the Scarlet Monastery, click it to receive the quest Call the Headless Horseman. You'll receive a candle to your inventory. Then just hand in the quest by clicking on the Loosely Turned Soil behind the shrine, placing there the candle.

Soon you'll start hearing it's maniac laughter!

How to kill Mr Headless... cool background music!

More fun stuff in Hollow's End!

Talk to Innkeepers and they may give you a "Trick" or a Treat Bag!

Tricks:

  • Turns you into a bat, cat, frog, human ghost, kitten, Mini-Diablo, skeleton, ninja or snake for 30 seconds.
  • Gives you a costume for 60 minutes. In some costumes, you can't cast and/or attack, but you can cancel it anytime by right-clicking the buff icon.

Treats:

  • Various Flimsy Masks for each gender of each race.
  • Free Candy.
  • Hallowed Wands that change you into various forms: Assassin, Bat, Ghost, Leper Gnome, Pirate, Skeleton, Wisp, and Random
  • Apple Bobbing tubs that give you [Bobbing Apple]s.
  • There's also candy vendors spread all over the place where you can buy delicous items like :
  • [Tigule and Foror's Strawberry Ice Cream]
  • [Moonbrook Riot Taffy]
  • [Styleen's Sour Suckerpop]
  • [Bellara's Nutterbar]
  • [Hallow's End Pumpkin Treat]

Black Cats are around cities... be careful! ^.^' If you kill one, you will gain"Bad Luck" for two hours. During this time, you will sense your impending doom... eheh...

During this event, Pumpkin Bags drop in addition to Traveler's Backpack's from mobs. Jack-o'-Lantern, an 18-slot bag, is added as a world drop as well!

To defeat an enemy you must thou know it!

That said, here's the Lunatic abilities:

  • Basic Melee: Deals ~1.8k base damage.
  • Cleave: Standard cleave, hits for ~3k base damage.
  • Head of the Horseman: Active after the Horseman suffers 99% damage each phase. ~27000 Health.
  • Whirlwind: After losing its head, the body will AoE whirlwind for ~1.4k/sec.
  • Conflagration: An AoE DoT, can only be removed with a PvP Trinket or other similar abilities(Ice Block, Divine Shield, etc). Ticks for a percentage of your maximum health every second and confuses the target. Lasts ~5 seconds.
  • Pulsing Pumpkin: Tossed on the ground during phase three. Casts sprout after ~15 seconds. ~10k Health. If a pumpkin lands on someone, they get a disease named Squash Soul which is -18 Spirit for 20 minutes.
  • Pumpkin Fiend: Sprouted from the Pulsing Pumpkins. Deals ~650 base damage and has ~10k Health.

And here's how he fights and how YOU should fight!

In Phase I:

Muahahahahah! The Horseman appears and attacks whoever lit the candle. What are you waiting for, Tank him right now! The others just DPS him!

When he reaches 1% and you think it's over... eheh, think again! He goes immune, toss his head, becomes disoriented, and uses a Whirlwind attack. now and then. Now the target is THE HEAD while the body heals to 100%. So DPS the head ASAP! After the head is about 60%, or the body is in full health, they will be rejoined!

Together again, In Phase II:

When the Head and the Horseman rejoins, if you are the player with the highest threat you'll be attacked!. After that is just same old story as the last fase with an added randomly thrown Conflagrationon anybody but the tank. Use your PvP Trinkets. Healers and ranged DPS should stay clear of both the tank and the spell target.

Phase two ends if the head reaches (guess! ^-^) about 30% health, or when the body heals to 100%.

Finaly Phase III!

Not Conflagration in this one. The real problem is the four Pulsing Pumpkins that he will toss, which sprout Pumpkin Fiendsafter several seconds. The pumpkins have around 10k health and the Fiends will crit cloth wearers for 1k (ouch!). The best course of action seems let the tank be decoy to both the boss and the pumpkins while the rest of the party just finishes quickly the boss before a new wave of Pumpkin Fiends appear (if it does, chances are, you're dead!).

*sigh* Last year I had a beautiful swift flying broom....I loved that thing. Of course, I forgot that it operated by flame and found out to my dismay what happens when that flame gets extinguished. So...fair warning...if you get a broom, stay AWAY from Zangarmarsh. It rains a lot there :)

I'm an undead mage myself :D Waiting patiently (NOT!) for Wrath of the Lich King!

I haven't played in a while either...blame my jealous husband. He thinks my blood elf wench engenders too much male interest. :) Well...she is a ROGUE! Duh.

I may give in though when Wrath comes out and allow him to talk me into playing again.

LOL Spryte! My husband and I both play, and he (playing female characters) gets hit on more than I do!

KT, aka Karel on Bonechewer, 66 Tauren hunter. (also Pwnytail, lvl 20 BE rogue, so I know exactly what you mean, spryte).

LoL... actualy my girlfriend also plays... she has a 70 Night elf Druid but is developing a Troll Shaman to play with me in my guild. It's level 69, almost getting there, just in time for Wrath!

I will probably try out the Death Knights in Wrath... I never played a Tank before and it should be fun! It will be interesting to see how they will work out the new Rune mechanic.

KT - My husband offered this solution..."hey, I know...we'll start a couple of gnome mages...only this time I'll be a female and YOU be a male."  His mage is now a level 9...while mine is...uh...oh wait, that's right...I refuse to make a male gnome.  :)

Profiler: I'm on Norgannon btw.  The Death Knights sound pretty kewl...I can't wait to see what they are capable of as a tank (never had a tank).  I have a 70 Undead Warlock named Cuddles that I alternate with my rogue.

LOVE that name Pwnytail btw!

lol spryte I can understand your reluctance against gnomes (they're a personnal no-no to me). But you should try becoming a mage... Warlocks ruled the Burning Crusade, but Mages will get Mirror Image a new spell tat's going to rock! We will split into 3 toons and randomly control one of them while the others mimic our movements... that's gonna be fun in pvp!

I'm on HellScream, european server!

Ahhh! Thanks for the heads up..I have a level hmm...well she's rather low level still I think...maybe 40ish? BE mage named Charry. Of course she's rather sexy too so I'm sure my husband will cringe if I bring her out to play :)

Can you tell I favor the horde? LOL!

Well in the new expansion I think you will be able to do cosmetic surgery so maybe you can put your characters actualy uglier so that your husband wont be upset... Maybe it will be even possible to do sex gender chances and your marital problems would be solved O.O'

For the Horde!

There's something uglier than an Undead female warlock? :) Nah...you have a point. My Blood Elves get hit on a lot more than my Undead does.

Hahaha how about a female orc?

spryte profile image

spryte  says:

Oh yeah, they're pretty darn ugly and don't even have as cool of a dance as the female Taurens or Trolls. I was going to make one...but even I couldn't find one that didn't make my stomach turn. Still, they make great tanks...

I wonder if there will be female death knights and how will those look?
