If you are looking for something actually good to watch on TV then check out the History Channel. Surprisingly it is full of contemporary and smart series about the past and the future. It has a lot to offer.  The History Channel can boast up to nearly 70 original series.  here is a list of some of my favorites.

Life After People

This show caught my attention just form the title. It takes a look at the future of the Earth after people have been annihilated.. each show in the series specifies on a particular part of the planet. It has great visual affects as well as commentary.  Life After People airs Tuesdays at 10:00 PM

How the Earth Was Made

How the Earth Was Made is another of my favorites.  The show features several places in the world and takes a look at how past event currently affect our lives.  Check out the website below as they offer beautiful pictures of our Earth.

Ax Men

The Ax Men is into it's second season.  It is a reality based show that follows the struggles of five different logging crews along the Pacific Coat.  The show features all the harsh conditionsthe loggers have to endure  with bad weather to mechanical failures on equipment.  This show has brought much attention to a little known  profession.  Check out link below to see how you can be an Ax Man on Facebook!

Ice Road Truckers

Ice Road truckers is another show  that is into it's third season.  This show follows truckers in Alaska and highlights the hazards of navigating a rig in the ice and snow.  All truckers are features on site below along with videos of episodes and a mash em up game.

Mega Movers

Like Really Big Mechanical things? Then this is the show for you! This series focuses on moving incredibly large structures. it is really amazing to watch them relocate! As the saying goes No job is too BIG or Small for the Mega Movers!

Modern Marvels

This show is definitely for the inquizitive. Each show features the history of a gadget or electronic device and how it is made.  Discussions from weaponry to Furbys.  Check out link below

Exipedtion Africa

This show makes Survivor look like a field trip.  Four explorers are blazing their way across Africa to recreate the expedition of Henry Morton Stanley in 1871.  This is more realistic and is not a game.  It is one of the newer shows on the History Channel

Gangland

Gangland is a documentary that looks at the inner workings of the Modern day gang.  The show looks at the effects gangs have on their communities. Often predatory in nature gangs have moved out for the inner city into the suburbs.

Tougher in Alaska

This new series focuses on the tough conditions that Alaskans face.  A tough climate makes for tough people who are the stars of this show. Geo Beach takes us on adventures each show  outlining how difficult it is to survive in Alaska.

these all look good or at least interesting. I never seem to land on this channel when I'm watching tv--but now I'll make sure to take notice of some of these shows.

Is there anything better than the History channel? That's the one I always turn to first...if nothings on that worth seeing...than there's nothing on TV! Great Hub, Ms Chievous.
