Growing A Hub from Scratch
Gardening is a lot like writing it starts of as an idea and blossoms after a bit of hard work into a work of art that you can be very proud of.
Any gardiner will tell you how proud he/she is of their work and like any writer they are most happy when someone sees their work and compliments them on their achievement.
Writing a hubpage or an article for any other website has many comparisons to gardening and this article explores them.

From Seed To Mighty Oak
A hub like a garden grows from an idea (seed) but before you plant that seed you need to prepare the ground, research your topic fully, find pictures to compliment your article and workout the layout of your hub garden.
Once the ground work has been done it is time to plant your seed but in order for your seed to grow you need to add water and fertiliser, for writing the water and the fertiliser are a little bit tougher to achieve that it is for the average gardener.
Getting people to visit your article is how your seed grows the water and fertiliser are social networking sites and marketing your work to try and achieve a bigger audience. I wont go into detail because many people find success using different methods and most of those success stories can be found by typing hubpages marketing on a hubpages search.
The ultimate aim of marketing your hubs is to get more visitors to your hubs and more people clicking and buying from your ads.
Keeping your Hub Garden in order, planting your seed and watching your garden grow is the easy part but from time to time you will still have a little work to keep your garden neat and tidy and to prevent it becoming overgrown and dying out.
Maintenance is also an important factor in article writing, sometimes your article becomes yesterdays news and loses visitors, keeping your hub updated with the latest information on the subject matter is essential if you want your hub to flourish and keep flourishing for ever, there is a small cheat in hubpages that allows your page to stay updated on a daily basis without you ever having to visit the page ever again, you can either usee an rss feed link to a busy website or you can add a news capsule to your hub which will update when the news changes.
Soon your Hub Garden will flourish, visitors will flock to see your work, search engines will direct more and more readers.

thanks bob lol.....jimmy
The Hubpages Gardener! I really liked your hub Jimmy. Thanks for sharing.
Well all and good and I loved how you equated writing to gardening. My hubs don't do too well. Ocassionally they will bring in 12 to one hub and only about 2 to the others. I fear that I am not writing about things people want to see. I also fear that I am being to "me, me, me"? And if that is so, then how do I get out of that?
Jimmy,
I enjoyed the Hubpages Gardener. It is beautifully written. Great Hub!
Thanks for sharing,
