In the early part of 2009, Geocities, the free web community owned by Yahoo announced that they would be closing thier doors. I spent a few frantic days trying to discover a good web host. Geocities closing literally meant the pending eviction of thousands of members who utilized the free web hosting. While Geocities served many people well (myself included), for a number of years, when they decided to shut their doors, that was that.

I was incensed, even though I was a Free member. I can only imagine how those who were actually paid members took it. Also, a big plus for some people, they will allow you to transfer your existing domain to thier server (for no charge).

They have other features as well, even for their free memembers. I don't use half of them, because I'm not certain what everything does. If you decide to check them out, be sure to look around at your members area.

I am particularly pleased with this web host because when I signed up with them, I discoverd that they have a "Filemanager" section that is very similar to Geocities.
