The Importance of Hobbies by The Blue Planet
I am a Holistic Life Coach, and one question I ask my clients is: What are some of your hobbies? Most people answer: I have none, or I don't know. I have noticed that work and play may be categories people can easily identify with, but the quiet down times are often associated with lonely, empty feelings.
As humans, I believe we have an abundance of interests and talents. It's just a matter of noticing what sparks are internal juices. Maybe a particular experience can lead to experimenting with new projects, meeting new people, and increasing positive self-esteem.
I know for myself that art has created a very special place in my heart. It fulfills so many parts of me, and the personal connections to drawing and creating, are very therapeutic for my well-being.
If you notice you often feel lonely, maybe it's time to observe what you silently may have yearned to try. Participating in something new can be viewed as an adventure. Who knows? You may discover particular hobbies that bring more joy and awareness in your life. The choices are limitless. Surrender the thoughts of failure or success. Go for the process---there's always something to gain in every choice we make.

I don't really understand how people can have no hobbies, life would be so dull.

I have so many hobbies I have trouble finding time for them all! Music, stamp and coin collecting, puzzles, and photography are some.
