Here's a Web People Won't Mind Getting Stuck In... Versus Spiders Whose Only Business is Sucking Blood... True Story:

What could spiders and generating your own network marketing leads possibly have in common?

Some spiders work for their reward, spinning webs-of-art to catch their food, as nature intended them to do.

Other spiders, however, do as little as possible--looking for 'free' food.

And just like the spider who spins his web first, before he expects to eat, there are some people who also give before they expect to receive as they go about their business, starting with the process of generation their own leads...

But then there are others who want leads (and success) without giving or creating anything first at all.

Introducing... The Indoor Spider!

I hate INDOOR spiders.

Always have...

They feed off of us at night when we sleep.

I'm not paranoid - this is totally true whether you like thinking about it or not.

Indoor Spiders Don't Have to Spin 'Attractive Webs' to Eat...

Have you seen an indoor spider's web? There's not much to see.

Ever wonder why?

Because indoor spiders don't have to create anything to eat...

That's why they do their business in the shadows... unsocial and unseen.

Indoor spiders don't contribute anything to attract food to them... they just hang out like uninvited guests and when the lights go out... you got it... they suck blood like leaches.

Those lazy suckers haven't had to spin real webs for generations! They don't use innovation... they just take what they can from who they can.

They pay the price for conducting business the way they do. People will go out of their way to kill an indoor spider, while you usually leave an outdoor spider alone.

Deep down you respect the outdoor spider who is often seen out in the open conducting business proudly displaying his work.

I love OUTDOOR spiders. Always have.

I can't say they're all beautiful, but some of them ARE magnificent. Have you ever seen a giant healthy spider in the woods, perched peacefully on it's work of art--appearing to be earning it's living effortlessly when you KNOW he must have worked his butt off to create such a masterpiece?

Some of those webs catch your eye even if you're at quite a distance. Some are real miracles... especially with the morning dew catching the light. Have you seen it? It's amazing.

So what do these indoor and outdoor spiders have to do with acing the Internet Marketing scene and being liked by both your customers, prospects as well as those who pass by along the way?

It's the difference between giving before you get, like the spider who spins a beautiful web, or hanging out uninvited, giving nothing and sucking all you can from whomever you can, like the indoor spider.

Most Internet marketers use the Internet like an indoor spider uses someone's home. They hang out uninvited... not contributing anything, and doing everything they can to avoid working for their reward.

Indoor spiders don't know any better. Most Internet marketers do. They know they're suppose contribute to but they either don't know how, or they feel they don't need to.

I've been there so I can relate. A person can be so focused on what they want to get out of their business that they forget that life, nature, the Universe and Biblical teachings... all the great teachers from the beginning to present have all taught in one way or another...

That you must give before you can get. And giving without want is the key to mastering everything. In relationships, in business, and fulfillment.

Back to Applying this to Your Internet Marketing to Spin an 'Attractive Web' of Your Own...

People don't always love outdoor spiders, but most have an appreciation for a beautiful web when they see one.

So even if someone is not interested in what you're offering in business, they will appreciate what you're doing if you do it with consideration for others.

And those who are your 'target market' will follow you and buy from you over and over if you're willing to work to contribute something that is attractive for them. This is the secret to gobbling up more business than you ever need while being liked... or even loved for it.

So what can you offer? What can you contribute?

The list of what you can offer is as infinite as the stars in the galaxy... and that is no exaggeration.

I like to teach that people simply start from where they're at in their profession. What do you like or enjoy about your business?

What fascinates you the most? Focus on those topics. Research them. Join groups that discuss them. Network with people on the web who share news or posts about those same topics. Genuinely contribute and learn from others.

As you network and begin to learn new things, share your opinion on what you've learned, on people who are well known in your area of expertise. Build up content on the Internet that reflects your reviews on books, other sites, people and their ideas.

Create content at Social Marketing locations (see some places to start below), but ALWAYS do it in a way so that those folk passing by receive value and enjoy what you shared even if they are not interested in what you offer in your business.

This is the web of content you build that will expand further and further with your reach. And it will be good stuff. Attractive stuff. People will like it. They will like you because of it. This is why many of them who are interested in the kinds of things you sell or offer will buy from you. Because you gave something they enjoyed receiving and because it was then their decision to buy from you. People like to buy. They just don't like to be sold to... so make your web far reaching and attractive.

Start Spinning Your Web of 'Attractive Content'...

Where to start spinning your web?

Here are some tips...

  • Squidoo.com
  • Hubpages.com
  • YouTube and other video sharing locations
  • Face Book Marketing Pages (not just the profile)
  • My Space
  • Set up a Blog for Your Internet Attraction Marketing
  • Link your good content with Social Bookmarking

Network in a few social networking sites daily and contribute, comment, help with questions, give good feedback

This all comes back to you on the Internet just as it would if you were networking in the real world... only this is far more effective because you leverage time to build significantly more relationships and you can build a web that reaches much farther than was ever possible before recently on the net.

Are You in a Network Marketing business?

Then this is even more important for you. Stop chasing people. Stop spamming people. Cold calling is spam on the phone. Stop looking at every person you meet as an opportunity to help them---because it's only coming off as you wanting to help yourself. Because normal people don't behave that way and inside you know it.

Are you in a small business of any kind?

On a shoe-string budget you can build this web of content to attract people to any kind of business. It's powerful. Just begin.

Then Bookmark your stuff, but only your best stuff (and not only your stuff) at places like Digg and StumbleUpon

These actions will build your marketing foundations and your reach will grow as you follow what I shared in this article... your networks will grow and more people will continually be attracted to your content. And they will start to buy from you. Some will even seek out what you are selling just so they can.

Of course, there is a learning curve involved. We've carved out a nice niche of service by helping small business owners and network marketers on a shoe-string budget learn this stuff.

But there are a lot of great teachers out there. As you move forward in your business, remember the difference between the Indoor and the Outdoor spider.

"Will you conduct your business in the shadows?"

Or, will you first contribute by spinning an Internet marketing web that is truly attractive... while being loved by prospects, customers and even those who just pass by?

Very good hub! I am a NM myself and this is what we have been taught in the business I am in. We are no longer taught "old school" ways of NM. If you make your business about others, you, in return, will be successful. It is in giving that you truly receive! Great work!

Again Mike, excellent hub. Very informative. The 'web' is an perfect way of getting noticed. But Network Marketers need to use it carefully, like you say. We need to be people oriented, not treat people like money making machines! Behind every article, there is a person, different emotions, ideas etc. So we need to take that into consideration. That is the only way to succeed!:) Have a great day. Mimi

Mike,

Great Hubpage! I am just getting started using Hubpages - so far all of mine have been over at Squidoo.

This is definately the next frontier for me to explore!

Hi Burke, and everyone,

Burke, you mentioned you use Squidoo so far. That's where my focus had been with 'content sharing' stuff like this... I've know about the Hub but took me a while to get dialed in. I think I like it better... it's a really clean set-up.

The big benefit of expanding our Internet content to new locations (like here at Hub Pages as well) is not only that you're creating more 'Internet real estate' for people to find you, but you're also giving yourself new opportunities to link one content to another (like Squidoo to Hub pages for example).

This is when you start to create an exponential effect in your efforts because incoming and external links, for a number of reasons, can improve your internet ranking on google, yahoo, etc.  This is shared in the professional training area tutorials (see Phase II).  Keep rockin!

Excellent article, now this is an article that you can take apart piece by piece and breakdown to steps 1,2,3 etc. I have seen the Hub before but was unsure about it, you have now got me thinking outside the box again as to the potential that it holds. Thanks for all your efforts to get this out to the masses.

Christine, you're absolutely right.  This hub I created here very quickly--actually I created this and another hub in the middle of recording the tutorial so a great deal more should be expanded in here... perhaps even into multiple hubs that link to one another...

Each hub can then be social bookmarked, linked to from a blog, a squidoo lense, etc... all creating each hub to come up on the search engines for different types of key words and phrases, based on the text you use.

For those reading that who are wondering what in the heck these terms mean, we have a tutorial breaking all that down... it's really a lot easier to learn than it seems at first... like everything else one learns in life.  This is actually a lot of fun!

Anyway, thanks Christine for taking the time to share.  Let us know about your progress with your own Hubs as you move forward.

Great hub Mike. I always learn new idea(s) when I read your article but reluctant to response online because of my English (second language) However I improve substantially as I commit to follow your training by doing it and come back and improve. Already have a squidoo lens, article and my hub will be online later to day. I cannot thank you enough. Sione

Mike,  Great hub!  Cool, creative way to "spin" your theme.  It's interesting, because the Internet is such an immediate feedback loop, that it's when you really get creative with your content and theme you usually see the best results.  Jesse

MLM is the best business model in the world, bar none. Unfortunately people believe the negative media about MLM, instead of getting the facts straight for themselves. How unfortunate.

Another Great Hub Mike!

I was beginning to get a lot of content up on the Web, (20-30) because I enjoy helping others. But I have to say; I did not understand the linking you talked about.

Maybe you did not get into this in the beginning of putting the Renegade University together because you needed to teach getting the content up first with Squidoo, Hubs, and so forth. Now it all makes sense.

Very exciting,

Thanks!

Hi Mike,I love the way you took something in nature and tied it into attraction marketing.I learned about spiders and I learned about attraction marketing. It was a great read! The pictures really caught my eye and drew me into the article so i really learned something. I hate knowing that at night when I sleep I might have a spider sucking my blood! yuk! But I also learned about hub pages and your example of how one can use them is crystal clear. Thank you!

What good timing, Mike. I'm over at Squidoo putting together 3 lenses that will feed off each other. I think I'm going to bring the third one to Hub and follow some of your tips for bookmarking and linking.

BTW my current project came directly from your "Writing with Pull" suggestion of taking follow-up emails and creating articles or content. Worked like a charm!

Your training continues to move me forward at a rapid pace and just want you to know how much I appreciate your creative ideas and solid guidance as we all spin our marketing web.

Mike, I really liked your Hub article. The analogy is great, and the article is very informative about spiders, especially the inside ones. I frequently wake up in the morning with little bumps after having gotten bitten by indoor spiders. Needless to say I don't like them very much. Ditto, internet marketers that are constantly sending out emails to "get" sales on an overload schedule, sometimes, two/three times a day.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Mike,

I really enjoyed your new Hub article, especially using spiders and their webs to show how networking works. I have used the spider web analogy in some of my writings. We create this Web of Connections socially, as well as with business. I too don't like spiders in the house, but I'm fascinated by the outdoor spiders; their beauty and how persistent they are at maintaining a web. No matter how many times they get swept away or rained on, they diligently work to make another one. We can all learn from these hard working critters!

Thanks so much!

Awesome.....all I can say is thanks for sharing this wonderful information. I am like speechless, you said it all. Indoors and outdoors spiders. Indoors spiders can learn from the outdoor spiders. This basically sums it all up with how you approach people whether networking online or offline. No one don't' like to be sold too. I know I don't. You are a total genius. You provide such valuable content that will help increase knowledge to learning the valuable tool to creating a great and valuable internet success with people loving every bit of content one create. I have learned some valuable information reading this hub, it's not about ourselves, it's more about giving, the more you give the better one's return.

Sharing is caring,

Destiny

Hey Mike,

What a long way you've climbed since from where you started with this Hubpage some 15 months ago. Nice work.

You've given so much value, carved out what probably started as a small niche and you kept carving and carving and carving, and now look, you have a masterpiece.

And it's like you said, it all starts with... "not forgeting that life, nature, the Universe and Biblical teachings... all the great teachers from the beginning to present have all taught in one way or another...That you must give before you can get. And giving without want is the key to mastering everything. In relationships, in business, and fulfillment."

Then asking, "So what can you offer? What can you contribute?"

The fun part is doing the research to find those social web 2.0 locations where people who you can contribute to best.

For example, my fiance Katie started out with Renegade Professional and quickly discovered she wanted to help guide and offer assistance to other moms who have had a baby at home - home birth (because that's the way we had our precious Ella Rose and it was a great experience).

So Katie found a social network called My Best Birth dot com and she began socially networking with other mothers of the same mindset and interests in natural birth and home birth.

Then within that community, she created content in the form of her blog and leaving comments at other moms' blogs and participating in the forums too.

That led to phone conversations and intriguing insights about her experience (in hindsight) as well as learning more about other moms who have had home birth and natural birth, and it goes on and on.

But the content has added up, and now she's taking all that content and organizing it into a book - and making articles, like this one that you've written, to generate "attraction." She's getting to know her target market - their wants, needs, problems and issues (from all angles).

Now she continues to learn to use the tools at Renegade Professional to make it all work symbiotically. It's all going well and it's fun because it's her passion.

Thanks for bringing R Pro to us. My family appreciates it.

Mike, Your comparison of the spider web and web of content on the interent brings to mind the importance of knowing our market, so our web of content provides the information that is of value to our target market.

Hi Mike,

Great content with a creative twist. Love the spider analogy. Funny I should get your email today on adding hub pages to our marketing, I was just thinking about pursuing hub pages as another point of contact on the web.

You are a great leader because you teach by example.

Faith
