The Internet Might Be Your Worst Enemy In Network Marketing

Huh? I thought everybody was saying that with the technology of the internet, the network marketing world would be revolutionized and we would all get rich? I thought that everybody would be flocking to my company website, since it is so easy to access, and sign up in my business? Why isn’t this the case?

According to Ann Sieg’s new report, The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto, the truth of the matter is, it depends which side of the technology curve you are on and how well you understand how the internet is going to interact with traditional network marketing. If the extent of your internet use in your network marketing business is to order your products online and to use your company provided replicated website, while still using traditional prospecting and lead generation methods, your prospects are going to eat you for lunch.

While you are talking to your prospect on the phone inviting them to a one-on-one meeting with you and your upline, your prospect is Googling your company name and coming up with all kinds of dirt and scams. I was just talking to one of my downline today who is still using these old school methods and practically everybody she talks to about her business does research on the internet and comes up with some negative comments. (What a lot of people new to network marketing don’t realize is that there are a lot of disgruntled people out there due to the normal 97% failure rate in network marketing and this is due to using the old school methods and these people take their frustration out by badmouthing the network marketing companies and network marketing in general. It doesn’t matter which company it is.)

So you continue on with your on-on-one meetings (and you get a no-show), you book a home-meeting (another no-show: who wants to drive all the way to someone’s house), you book a hotel meeting (another no-show: your prospect doesn’t want to go to some rah rah hotel meeting to be sold by a company bigshot), etc. And all the while, your prospect is doing research on the internet.

As they do their research, they are going to come across ads or websites promoting reports that propose to explain and divulge secrets as to why the average person fails in network marketing and how to avoid these pitfalls. Your prospect gets the report and continues to get valuable information from this expert in the field of network marketing. Next thing you know, your prospect has signed up with the expert’s network marketing company. Attraction marketing has done its work, but you were on the wrong side of the transaction. If you are not using it properly, the internet will be your worse enemy.

Doug,

Great hub. Love you take on internet marketing. Very true you will be eaten for lunch if you still think that using replicated company websites will work.

So true. If we are not will and ready to change with the times we will be left in the dust. It has happend often before in history. With these economic times we can hardly afford to do that

It is true enought that there are negative comments about all companies online. What the more savy companies do is to use Google alerts to watch for any mention of their name. If someone posts on a forum that they got burned by the company. The company gets an email from Google because the post used the company's name, then someone goes to the forum to try resolve the posters problem or to discredit them.

Doug,

Great hub! Replicating sites don't work for promoting your business... they don't get high rankings with the search engines because there's no original content. Thanks for sharing.

Great hub Calvin. So many people think they are doing internet marketing because they're posting their replicated site everywhere, not realizing they are likely doing themselves more harm than good. Thanks!

Good Hub...

How much longer do you think the "old school" ways will be around.
