2000 years ago, the Religious Leadership convicted and the Romans hung a man on a cross. The man was a teacher of love, honesty, respect, hope and kindness.  What was his crime?  He was too different?  He dared try and convince the people to "Love thy neighbor as thyself"!

He was scorned and scoffed at, laughed at and ridiculed as he died.  He was famous....there had to be something wrong with him.  Ages later...the Davinci Code dug up some dirt on this guy. It is for sure that someone out there is looking for more dirt!

Famous people live and die but I don't think that even one has ever escaped unblemished. Women are usually called whores to some degree because of multiple marriages or nude appearances.  Men are usually accused of being bi-sexual, perverts or run of the mill Hollywood orgy participants.

Why do we even care about the personal lives of famous people?  We don't know them?  I am sure that if we sat and had a conversation with Farrah Fawcett ....we would walk away with an amazingly different perspective. Perhaps we would see a little bit of who her husband fell in love with?  Maybe we would find that they feel as lost as we are when it comes to the ways of the world.

"The face of God is in every child" sounds like something Jesus would say.  It is a quote from Michael Jackson.  Why is it that we want to murder the tender and different spirits of the world.  We want them to be nasty....we want them to be trash....we want them to fall so we can laugh and kick their souls to the gutter of gossip.

The worst feeling in the world is to be accused of something that you are not guilty of. When it becomes public....many of the people could care less if you are found innocent....they still see you as guilty in their ignorant mindset.

We gather on the hills of the media to condemn and hang famous people on invisible crosses.  We call them names....we read the trashy  half truths of their lives.....we mind punch them off their pedestals and claim a victory unto our jealous hearts.

Perhaps it is not they that change by walking into fame? It could be that we perceive them as typical through the eyes of a media manipulation.  We make them gods and then do our best to de-throne them.

It is time to put away the terms such as Stars...the Divas...the gods and the Icons.  They are people with special talents.....they worked hard to gain those talents.....that's all.  We can admire and respect their craft....yet....we need to look at them instead of up at them.  A famous tear falls the same as any tear.

Take them down from invisible crosses and let them rest...in...peace.

And leave the grieving families alone to mourn the loss of their beloved family members in private.

People think humans have changed their 'savage' ways, but not much seems to have budged over the millenniums. An insult is still an insult in the anonymous covering of a crowd as it is on the Internet. Even though I don't like Obama's presidency, there was a time that I admired his ambitions. Even if he has screwed up, I acknowledge at least that he would likely be decent enough to talk to, as well as his his doofy parliament.

But I'm not getting into the how's and why's of politics right now. Michael Jackson, I think, was indeed an innocent soul. Farah Fawcett was a good actress. And Billy Mays was just an awesome advertiser. And naturally, their deaths are mocked profusely. I know, of course, that the actors and actresses who have retrieved this treatment in the past have forgiven the guilty masses, as Jesus did. I accept that when I die, assuming my ambitions become within range, I will receive the very same treatment. It's inevitable.

Nonetheless, I wish these men and women peace. All of 'em.

I famous person once said, "The one thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." Gossip and crap is an occupational hazard of the entertainment business. You can't be a celebrity without being celebrated. It is also a fact that people love to bring down somone on top. I don't know what MJ did or did not do, but he suffered greatly in the press and in the end he was left with nothing. He was the greatest of all time in his field and that what he should be remembered for.

Well said Tom, too many find it too easy to destroy a persona, it's jealousy to some extent I believe.

Candie....yes...absolutely leave them alone.

Am I dead, Yet....thank you much!

Dr. Larkin....well put...peace.

Pete....you summed it up perfectly...his fame is what we knew of him....not his person.

Hawkesdream....so true.....jealousy is the usual culprit.

Another excellent thought provoking hub, like you say nothing has changed except the place of Crucifixion now its the press, Internet and TV and the results can be utterly devastating. May God comfort all those who mourn today.

true words. I admit to being a little rough about celebs myself. In some aspects though, we have to keep them honest as human beings, find a balance between blind admiration and reality.

If we didn't have all the media gossip about celebrities, what would the women in hair salons read and talk about?!

Love it Tom. I think people just like condemning and tearing others down - and it is not reserved for celebrities. Celebrities just get more of it, because they are more public.
