The Lake Which Burns With Fire

What Is It? What Is It's Purpose?

The Christian Church teaches that the Lake of Fire mentioned in Revelation is the Eternal Judgment of the wicked, which they call "Hell". They say it is a real "literal" pit of fire, which all those who reject Christ will be "literally" cast into. But there's a few problems with that teaching...

1. The Lake of Fire is not a literal place; it's a symbol. We learn this in the very first verse of the book of Revelation!

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

He “signified” it through an Angel to the Apostle John. To “signify” means to show by “signs” or “symbols”. A “symbol” is something that represents something else. It is not a literal thing.

- Does anyone believe that Jesus Christ will return to do battle with a literal sword coming out of His Mouth [Rev 2:16]?

- Does anyone believe that Jesus Christ will give the faithful ones a literal white stone [v.17]?

- Does anyone believe that Jesus’ eyes are literal flames of fire, and His feet literal white bronze [v.18]?

- Does anyone believe that Jesus will cast a literal harlot named Jezebel onto a literal bed so that men can literally sleep with her [Rev 2:22]?

- Does anyone believe that there are seven literal torches of fire which are the seven literal Spirits of God [Rev 4:5]?

- Does anyone believe that there literally are four funky-looking creatures before God’s throne singing praises to Him night and day without rest [v.6-8]?

Crazy, right? We can easily see that these are symbols.

But then we come to Chapter 20, where we are told that people are cast into a “lake of fire”, and the Church says, “That’s literal!” How so? Where in the book of Revelation do we read that Chapters 1 through 19, are all symbolic, but when you come to Chapter 20, it’s now literal, no more symbols? Huh?

2. Hell is not the Lake of Fire.

Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Even in a "symbolic" sense, you cannot cast something into itself. Hell is "cast into the lake of fire"; therefore Hell itself cannot be the Lake of Fire.

3. What happens to the people that are cast into the lake of fire [Rev 20:15]?Are they literally burned and tortured for all eternity?

A SPIRITUAL MATCH:

In Rev. 20:11 we read of "a great white throne." In Verse 12 the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books are opened, and God presents us with a double witness that "every man’s work" shall be judged by "fire":

1. "and the dead judged… ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS," (Rev. 20:11). And they are judged in "FIRE," Vers. 14, 15 & 21:8.

2. "…they were judged every man ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS." (Rev. 20:13). And they are judged in "FIRE," Vers. 14, 15 & 21:8.

Now then, is there another Scripture that speaks of the judgment of "every man’s WORK?" and every man’s work judged by "FIRE?" Yes, there is, and only one other:

1. "EVERY MAN’S WORK shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by FIRE" (I Cor. 3:13a).

2. "…And the FIRE shall try EVERY MAN’S WORK…." (I Cor. 3:13b).

We have now located our "two witnesses." These are the only two places in the entirety of the Bible that speak of:

1. "EVERY MAN…,"

2. "Every man’s WORK…,"

3. "Every man’s work, JUDGED…MANIFESTED, DECLARED, REVEALED, AND TRIED...,"

"Every man’s work judged…tried BY FIRE."

.....

Now, here's the kicker:

I Corinthians 3:15 If anyone's work shall be burned up, he will forfeit it, yet he shall be saved, yet thus, as through fire."

There it is! We are "saved... through fire"!

Mal 3:2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:
3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

4. The Lake of Fire is not "eternal".

Rev 20:14 ...This is the second death-the lake of fire.

I Corinthians 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Revelations 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, ... for the former things are passed away.

Hell is cast into the Lake of Fire. The Lake of Fire is the second death. Death shall be destroyed. There shall be no more death. The Lake of Fire shall be destroyed. The Lake of Fire shall be no more. You can’t deny it; you just read it straight from the Scriptures!

THE MOST AMAZING TRUTH OF ALL GOD'S WORD, AND YET IT IS TAUGHT NOWHERE IN THE WORLD OF CHRISTIANITY!
