The Last Lear 2007 movie review
58I remember when I went to watch Rock On in PVR Cinemas and came across this huge poster of Amitabh Bacchan from his movie "The Last Lear" and I read some critics comparing his performance to Toshiro Mifune and some stating it is the best Bacchan film.
Well I don't know if all that actually is true but as an audience, I feel The Last Lear did let me down after exciting me with its huge promises.
The film is not bad but it never manages to involve you dramatically. The problem I feel is that it focuses too much on letting the story bring out the character which I feel is a right move, but when the story itself has not solid content or has nothing to say then how the hell do you expect the audience to go with all these half-baked characters.
Rituparna Ghosh I must say impressed me a lot with his only Hindi film that I saw called "Raincoat" and I was expecting this film to move me but alas it never did. Anyways, I am not that disappointed because I appreciate his efforts.
The Last Lear clearly belongs to Big B who plays an actor obsessed with Shakespeare and he is ably supported by the cast including Shefali Shah (natural), Arjun Rampal and Priety Zinta.
Watch it if you are a fan of Big B.
