The Last Day of New Years Festivities

My wife and I were invited to join my daughter and her son in law for a special buffet lunch as this was the last day of the Chinese New Year. We had to be at the restaurant a bit earlier, as there was to be a Lion Dance. We were ushered to our seats and had ordered drinks, helped our self to some starters from the wide range of food then as we settled down eat and enjoy our meal,  there was a hubbub of excitement and then quiet.

The restaurant was filled with steady rhythm of a couple of drums and some cymbals in perfect time, this echoes and reechoed throughout. The Lion made its appearance and wended its way through the main body of the venue.

If you remember the syncopated drumming of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, this same thrill passed over me as closer and closer the sound headed in our direction.

Suddenly the Lion was upon us as we the honoured, were the first of the guests to be blessed with luck and good fortune by the Red Lion

Thanks for the New Years greetings and may this be a good year, yes it was fun and a pleasant time was had by all. thanks as well for for the comments.

I believe that when the Lion "opened his mouth" directly above me was actually blessing me, and mot as I felt at that point of time "being devoured', hardly had time to focus an all.
