 Hello Long Island,

My name is David Gussin, founder of 516Ads.com & 631Ads.com. We're proud to be affiliated with The Corridor. When publisher Barbara Kent offered us the opportunity to to write a Long Island Networking column, we jumped at the chance.

At a glance, networking is about business people coming together, building relationships. You don't have to look much further to see there is much more. We use words like 'business', words like 'community', the reality is they are intertwined. You see, your neighborhood auto mechanic, also coaches kid's sports. Your Long Island promotions company, is doing a Avon Walk to raise money to fight Breast Cancer. Your realtor is hooking up with an event planner and they'll be cooking dinner for families at The Long Island Ronald McDonald House. As you can see, in many ways the Long Island networking community is all of us. It's an incredible combination of community and commerce.

The goal of this column is to provide you quality information to help you better network and promote your services. While we're at it, we'd like to spread an opposite attitude to the negative media. We call it Goodness Speaking Up! The problem with goodness is this. Goodness is quiet. Goodness doesn't like to make a fuss. Goodness just wants everything to be OK. Hate makes headlines, goodness goes invisible. There should be no doubt that Goodness Needs To SPEAK UP!!! When it comes to Goodness Speaking Up!, no one does it better than the Long Island Networking world.

2009 - The Year of IGNITING BUSINESS!!!

The attitude of IGNITING BUSINESS!!! is a good one during booming times, during these tough times it'a a necessity. We'll be teaming up with restaurants and business owners and entrepreneurs throughout Long Island, sponsoring FREE Networking events with the goal of IGNITING BUSINESS!!! On January 7, 2009 we'll be Kicking Off The Networking Year @ Sidekicks in Massapequa Park. On January 26, 2009 it's MondayNightNetworking.com @ The Cool Water Grill in Bay Shore. MondayNightNetworking.comis an attitude. An attitude of kicking off the work week, kicking off the networking week ... igniting YOUR business. Also in January, you'll have the Fortune 52 Networking Night @ Glo and The Westbury Manor 1/28 Networking Night. The last Glo event had 700 plus networkers in attendance. The Westbury Manor event is like going to as fancy wedding, without having to bring a gift. Just bring lots of business cards.
