My First Visit

I have always wanted to go to Sea World, so this was going to be a dream come true. It was sunny and warm, no threat of rain. I couldn't of asked for better weather. Days before I had arrived in Florida from a 24 hour drive from Canada, so weather like this was perfect.

As soon as we entered the park we were greeted by some Flamingo's. They were pretty cool, but a little noisy. We stood there for a minute then headed over to the Turtles. These were Leatherback turtles that they had rehabilitated. They had them swimming around in a lagoon with a beach and lots of plants around. It looked like they went to a lot a trouble to make it a natural as possible. A lot less noise than the Flamingo's and that was cool.

Next was Dolphin Cove. They had a huge cove with lots of dolphins. Around the edge you could stand and the dolphins would come up to you. When we had arrived they had already started the show, so we couldn't get very close. I tried to get as close as I could but there were to many people. They had a couple people in canoes in with the dolphins trying to get them to do tricks for the crowd.

If you go around to the far side of the cove there is an entrance to a viewing area which runs under the dolphin cove. Here you will be able to see them playing and they will come up to the window for you. I really enjoyed this and stayed for 15 minutes or so to watch them.

The Amazing Shows

Next we headed over to one of the amazing shows at the Blue Horizon stadium. We waited for a half hour before the show began, but it was worth the wait. Once the show began you were mesmerized by the music, and all the action that was going on. One of the actors was in full costume, dressed as a big parrot.

The dolphins were pretty amazing with all the tricks that they could do. They also different kinds of dolphins, but I was only familiar with the more common bottle nose dolphins. All in all the show was amazing and I would highly recommend it everyone that goes to Sea World.

The Killer Whale Shamu

This show is called "Believe" and it was one of the highlights of the park. It was an amazing show with music and stunning acrobatics performed by Shamu. The one actor that spent most of the time with Shamu is also trainer and caretaker, so their was a lot of trust between them. You could tell by watching them that they both had a lot of respect for one another.

I can't say enough about this show. This was a great show, and I loved every minute. These stunning shows are a must see if you are considering going to Sea World. A lot time and effort must be put in by these actors and actresses to make such an amazing show. After the shows some of the actors/actresses make themselves available if you have any questions or comments. You can tell by talking to them that they love what they are doing.

Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island

This was another show that I enjoyed. A couple of seals and two pirates made for a very funny and entertaining show. This show would more suited for they younger ones, but all in all it was a good show. I have short video that will give you some idea of what the shows was like.

Shark Encounter

If you enjoy sharks than you will love this. You go into a tunnel and the sharks are swimming all around you, its so cool. I could have stayed in there for a lot longer but other people wanted in so I had to move on. Again, the Shark Encounter is a must see and you will be glad that you took the time to visit this fantastic show.

More Great Things To See And Do

The park is full other great things to see and do. If you like the rides than go on the "Journey to Atlantis" ride. And after the ride you can visit the " Jewell of the Sea" aquarium. They have the monster ride called "The Kracken", a top 10 coaster.

Penguin Encounter was fun to. Like Shark Encounter you go travel down a tunnel with the penguins around you. They have a place where you can view seals and sea lions. They will provide you with frozen fish(for a price) so you can feed them.

You will see some Manatee also. Apparently in the olden days these creatures were said to be mermaids. Well, I'm not sure how that could be, they don't look anything like the mermaids that I am familiar with. They are not a good looking animal at all. These creatures are protected because of their low numbers. I think that many of these creatures are rescued animals, which I think is great.

The End of the Day

What a great day! Perfect weather, great performances and many things of interest to see and do. There were many other things that you can do there, but these are the ones that I really enjoyed. Of course they have plenty of places to eat and shop and I think we visited most of them.

If you ever get the opportunity to visit Sea World don't pass it up. This theme park is a must see if you are live or travelling through the state of Florida.
