It is estimated that the human can distinguish between 10 million different colors. Now that's a lot of color combinations. Remember back when you were young and were taught the basic primary colors?
Each color is different. As you may notice, different colors bring about different emotions, different experiences, and different moods. Go into a room that's not well lit and compare it to a bright room with bright colors. You will feel a certain shift of mood, Colors affect moods, it triggers certain emotions.
Truth is, we are inclined to colors that we are comfortable with. Notice how we sometimes choose things? We often times use color as a benchmark for choosing something. We often choose color that relaxes us.
Basic colors
Each colors' meaning
Colors change with texture, and position of light source. Under whatever condition, colors stay the same; their meaning stays the same.
Black:
Black is quite the color. It is associated with power, elegance, death and evil. It also associated with the unknown and mysterious. It is also used to symbolize grief.
Blue
Probably the color that is most seen. The color of the sky and the ocean, it is associated with stability, trust, confidence, and depth. This color is also very much associated with heaven.
Green
Green is nature's color. It is often associated to harmony, growth, and freshness. It denotes safety, making it the used color for passage in road traffic. On the other hand, dark green is associated with money and in the financial world.
Orange
Orange is associated with joy, sunshine and is often times associated with anything that's hot but not in the same intensity as red. It is a combination of yellow and red, and so does its perceived meaning. Orange is quite the attention grabber.
Purple
Being a combination of red and blue, purple also share the meaning of the two. It often symbolizes luxury, ambition, mystery and magic. Different shades of purple are used in different ways. Light purple for example are used for feminine design.
Red
Red is a much more intense version of Orange. The color of blood and fire, red represents love, passion, danger, strength, and power. Red is most of the time used for something to stand out and get attention. Red also represents courage, making it quite popular in national flags.
White
White is associated with clarity, purity, light, and innocence. White represents positivity and cleanliness. In consumer products, white is considered to depict simplicity. White is also popular with anything related to medicine: doctors, hospitals, etc.
Yellow
Yellow is the color of happiness, sunshine, and joy, It creates a feeling of cheerfulness and warmness. Yellow is also used often to get attention. A combination of color and black are used to show danger. In contrast, yellow is also used to show cowardice.
