In May 2006, I and my 13 year old daughter went to England for a one week vacation to spend time with the man who is now my husband. He was a gracious host and took us all over the English countryside which has become the source of many great memories, and great hubs, for me. On this particular trip, we stayed in five different hotels and you'll want to read my hub about some of the wacky hotel experiences we had as well.

One night while winding down in our hotel room, my husband popped a DVD into his laptop. He wanted to introduce my daughter and I to The Mighty Boosh, a British comedy that he is quite fond of.

I had never heard of The Mighty Boosh. Heck, didn't even know what a boosh was, or why a mighty one would be any different than an ordinary one. I now know.

The episode he chose to watch was "The Nightmare of Milky Joe". I have to admit, I actually fell asleep about halfway through it. It wasn't because I didn't find it entertaining, I was just tired from the day's activities. The next day, my husband and daughter would randomly blurt out lines from the episode. My daughter has an uncanny knack for memorizing lines from movies or lyrics to songs. My husband had them memorized from the many times he's watched the episode. I felt a little left out and was really pleased when my daughter asked him to play it again the following evening. This time I was able to see the entire episode. I did find it funny, and certainly unlike anything I could compare it to in America. I could see why they both enjoyed the banter they were able to create from pieces of the script. I soon caught myself blurting out movie lines too.

When Christmas came in 2006, I had managed to find Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD and purchased them for our region so that we could watch them here in Texas anytime we wanted. My daughter fell in love with so many of them.

By the time my husband arrived in American in early 2007, she had memorized tons of lines and watching episodes again became a great source of entertainment for the three of us.

My daughter began sharing the shows with all her friends until they too, were memorizing lines. I think my daughter got a little annoyed as her friends began exposing other people to the Boosh (via YouTube) and they lost sight of who started it all.

The Mighty Boosh has found its way into American television via Adult Swim. I found a lot of information, including hundreds of video clips on this website. It's a great way to get acquainted with The Mighty Boosh.
