The moral of this story is that you should try to achieve something even if it seems difficult for the first time. This story became a proverb when someone fails in anything: they say: he came back with Hunain shoe.

Finally, he was executed by a firing squad in front of cameras. Anyway, he had an obsession towards shoes where he used to wear them for one time only and by the end of the day, he orders his butler to burn them so no one can use them after him.

Shoes no. 4

Eva Peron’s shoes. She was the second wife of the former Argentinean president Juan Domingo Peron. She was known as humanitarian who helped her people specially the poor by finding charity organizations and encouraging charity fund raising. She loved shoes and she had them designed specifically out of mink fur for her which is considered the most expensive fur in the world.

In a press conference hosted by George W Bush and the Iraqi Prime Minister Al Maliki, this zealot journalist felt rage and anger towards the President who invaded his country and decided to avenge himself by throwing his shoe at George Bush. Once the first shoe attack missed the target, Al Zaidi attempted to launch the other shoe at both of them to fail again. This was the first incident of its kind in all history for a shoe to be used as a weapon! Also, media reported that the shoemaker of these shoes received millions of orders to buy the same exact shoes thus inducing the slacked economy in Turkey.

Shoes no. 1

Nikita Khrushchev’s shoe. Former Soviet Union president who boldly and daringly took off his shoe and pounded it on his delegate desk in a protest attempt in the 1960 during the General Assembly Meeting in the UN, New York. So inventive to choose the shoe theme. I especially agree with the way you ranked them. Most of these I did not know about, but now I do! Thank you, Shamel!

I can see why someone would throw a shoe at someone else, as it's the ultimate insult...I guess a book wasn't available? This was very entertaining, Shamel! I'll never understand why women are so infatuated with shoes :)

I feel as though you have skipped over at least #3 on the list behind Nikita and Imelda. That would be Maxwell Smart and all the other people on "Get Smart" with the various shoe phones! ;)

Historically Muntather Al Zaidi will be forgotten long before the rest on your list, and for certain before Maxwell Smart!

The Ruby Slippers, my good man, where are they on the list?

Thanks it was entertaining reading.

I love shoes, but apart from Cinderella's, Eva peron's and Imelda Marcos I had never heard the other stories. Really fascinating how a clothing accessory can become so important for the most bizarre reasons.

I passed down my love for shoes to my daughter, the difference is that she has a whole closet for shoes only, and she keeps all of them in their original box. It's a bad habit I wish she would get over. Thank you for a good read.
