The Frozen Concoction Maker

"That frozen concoction that helps me hang on" is how I think the line goes. I'm sure parrotheads, or Jimmy Buffett fans who can recite every song by heart will correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm a bit of a Parrothead myself, though I've only been to one Jimmy Buffett concert I did live the life he sings about aboard my own sailboat in the Islands for a few years.

You think it would be easy to get a good margarita in the Caribbean but sadly it is not. Bartenders have grown used to tourists who are so intent on getting smashed they don't really care what it is that is in their glass as long as it is sweet and has alcohol in it.

I'll never forget trying to find a good margarita on Isla Margarita, a Caribbean island near Venezuela. I had no luck.

In all the time I spend aboard my sailboat wandering I never had a really decent margarita. My boat did not have an ice maker or enough power to run a blender but now that I am back on land I have found Margaritaville at my local Best Buy store.

Jimmy Buffett never was the world's best singer but his lyrics captivated a small, extremely dedicated fan base that stuck with him until Nashville artists like Alan Jackson go him to go mainstream. Luckily for us drinkers he is a smart businessman as well and he teamed up with an engineer to come up with an industrial quality margarita machine for the home. He called it the frozen concoction maker after the lyrics from his song. The frozen concoction maker features a high amperage motor and solid look and feel and looks great on my kitchen countertop.

What makes it different is that it actually shaves the ice, like professional bar machines should do, instead of grinding it up into sleet like bits.

This allows the mix and tequila to soak into every little wonderful ice flake.

Of course no machine, not even the frozen concoction maker, can make a perfect margarita without the right ingredients. You need the right tequila. Cuervo is great and Buffett also sells his own Margaritaville Gold Tequila (which is darn good) and mixes.
