The Moving Blues
57Stress Caused By Life Disrupted
I have recently had to move in with relatives temporarily for several reasons. I have been reminded during this last move of the many reasons why it is one of the top most stressful things to have to deal with in our lives. Not only does it completely interrupt our normal schedules, it is fraught with all kinds of aggravations from paying movers with money you don't have to changing addresses. Since this is a temporary stop for myself and my little girl, there is storage cost involved as well. My life stored in a 10 x 20 box for the next couple of months. I have also had the extra aggravation of finding and fighting with equipment to get a sufficient connection established to utilized my much needed and much missed computer. Of course, there is the constant adjustment of the household dynamic and making sure things are kept as nice as possible for all involved. The last thing one wants to do is cause more stress to an already stressful situation full of adjustments. My dog is having to go through his own adjustments as he is having to stay with other family members. I wish he could have stayed with us as that would have been best for our little family, but it was not agreeable to all involved. However, I know that he is being taken care of and in a few months, we will all be together again. On the other hand, I can say with confidence that I am very blessed and grateful that I have a family that is able to pull together in times of crisis to help one that is down on her luck and needs a hand out of it. It is very easy to get wrapped up in the stress of the situation, but on the other hand, I remind myself frequently that family values are alive and well in my family. It is sad to see how many people do not have the kind of help and support that I and my daughter are fortunate enough to have in this family. It really does test what people are made of when a loved one needs them. My family knows that whenever, if ever one of them is in trouble or needs me to help them, that they can count on me. They have all proven to me in some way that they are there for us, even if it is not convenient. It is sincere and heart-felt love for family that makes the stress of life disrupted bearable in trying times. If you are fortunate enough to have that kind of love and closeness in your family, remind your loved ones of how much they mean to you frequently, because there is nothing like family helping you to get back up when you get knocked down. Life is short and love is eternal, no matter the relationship. Your family will be there for you through good and bad if you are lucky. Appreciate and respect those who love you most, because they will truly be in your corner no matter what happens in your life.
