Objectives: To enable students to understand that it is okay to be different and unique. To encourage students to think of ways that they are different from each other. To help students understand that it is good to be different and unique from others.
Materials: The New Bear at School book
Activity: Begin by asking what it means to be different and unique. You may have to explain this to the younger students. Read aloud The New Bear at School book.
Ask the following questions:
*Is Boris different?
*In what ways is Boris different?
*How did the class feel about Boris at first?
*How did Boris help the students?
*How did the students feel about Boris after he saved them?
*Is it okay to be different from others in your class?
*How are you different and unique from others in your class? (Allow all students to give an example).
