The Webkinz Reindeer is on track to be a huge holiday launch this season. The Ganz company occasionally launches special limited edition pets. They are limited in production quantity, and are later retired.

The Reindeer was launched in early October 2007, and began arriving in stores shortly thereafter. Many stores sold out their entire stock before inventory even arrived, selling pre-orders to people on a waiting list. Some reindeer are now starting to appear on the secondary market. As more shipments arrive as the holidays approach, stores should see stock replenished but it will not last long. The demand for the reindeer is already moving well ahead of supply.

The Webkinz Reindeer has already been spotted in Canada, and a user recently activated the first one on Webkinz World. The Reindeer's special item is Santa's sleigh. It is a brown stuffed animal with off-white colored antlers and is quite cute. It's special food is Spiky Sedge Soup. Its a really neat stuffed animal and is an ingenious idea. Webkinz pets are a little less than a foot tall and soft and cuddly.

Once you buy your reindeer or give a new Webkinz reindeer to your kid, be prepared because the only thing on their mind will be naming their reindeer. And then decorating the reindeer's room on Webkinz World. If your kid wants a reindeer or you really want to give one as a gift, you had better buy Webkinz reindeer now while you still can. This is one of the hottest items of the season, and it will sell out fast. Don't be surprised if stores are sold out before Black Friday and Thanksgiving. Once you find someone who has them in stock, it might not be a bad idea to invest in a couple of them, one to give as a gift or for your kid, and a couple to hold in reserve to sell once prices rise as demand skyrockets.

The closer we get to the holidays, the tighter supplies will get and this may drive up prices pre-retirement. The new Webkinz Reindeer is being produced in limited production quantities. Once the production run is over, no more will be made, and store inventory is what it is.

The unknown is just how much it will appreciate and how quickly the value will increase. Some previously retired Webkinz have reached values ranging anywhere from $100 to $1000. Most seem to hover between $100 to around $500.
