Participate by letting your voice be heard @ the Obama website

Recently the Obama transition team have implemented in their website a communication panel where citizens are allowed to ask the question that mostly concern them. And as you can see, I have done just that. I have asked the transition team 11 questions which I thought the voice of the speechless would want to be answered. I encourage all of you to get involve and let your voice be heard, go to the website and participate. Although you may not have any questions to ask is OK ....because voting on the questions you like most is as equally important as asking a question. We do that as a collaboration of our effort to make certain that this administration listen to us. We should not let the Obama team forget not even for a minute that they work for us. Let us work to leave a better world for our children and by that we should hold Obama liable for this quote “Today we begin to earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today”. If you like any of my questions, you can vote for it @ change.gov to let your voice be heard or perhaps you can ask your own question as a contribution to the struggle. I will also mentioned that another addition to the Obama website has gotten us closer to the president. You now have the possibility to change his mind, your valuable insight can help change our country course of action. Please submit you ideas to the Citizens Briefing book. As stated on the website, "Share your ideas on any issue facing the new administration, then rate or comment on other ideas. The best rated ideas will rise to the top -- and be gathered into a Citizen's Briefing Book to be delivered to President Obama after he is sworn in." I've already submitted my ideas, now it's your turn to get involve.

Health Care

  1. Health care has become ridiculously expansive and as a result of that many Americans are left without it, will Obama work to legalize gay marriage so that gay couples can be covered under their partners health insurance policy?"

An alternative for the uninsured

The Economy

  1. It seems to me by bailing companies, we’ve created a codependency between companies and American tax payer’s money. What plan do the Obama cabinet have to reduce potential future bailout under an economic crises?"

The question below is somewhat similar to the one I asked.

Q: "What will you do to establish transparency and safeguards against waste with the rest of the Wall Street bailout money?" Diane, New Jersey

A: President-elect Barack Obama does not believe an economic crisis is an excuse for wasteful and unnecessary spending. As our economic team works with congressional leadership to put together a plan, we will put in place reforms to ensure that your money in invested well. We will also bring Americans back into government by amending executive orders to ensure that communications about regulatory policy making between persons outside government and all White House staff are disclosed to the public. In addition all appointees who lead the executive branch departments and rule making agencies will be required to conduct the significant business of the agency in public so that every citizen can see in person or watch on the Internet these debates.

A Moral Question

  1. If we're to create a heating burner that works with hydrogen only, would the team accept it as the mean of placing the environment before profit or would they have revoked it because it would have eliminate the gain of unwanted profit from oil?"

Foreign Policy

  1. It is clear that foreign policy is going to be a big issue for Obama. Will the Obama team leave doors close for bilateral talk or will they communicate their disagreements to resolve conflict?"

National Security

  1. Since the President state that Al Qaeda are using Afghanistan as safe haven to organized, can Obama's proposition to shift the war to Afghanistan be viewed as a national security concern or is it a substitution for the Iraq war?"

The Economy

  1. Knowing that Globalization have left us vulnerable to the free market economy, what strategies will the Obama administration incorporate to minimized that vulnerability?"

The Economy of Debt

  1. What strategies will the Obama team implement to keep those outrageous interest rate on credit cards at a minimal? Because as it is known, any attempt for the team to act on this suggestion can decrease debt for Americans." Listen

Foreign Policy

  1. Now that the Israelis & Palestinian conflict has revitalized again, will Obama call for peace to prevent further civilian death?"

Foreign Policy

  1. Obama offering Cubans the opportunity to send money to their relatives can be viewed as an initiation process to a better relationship. Will Obama accept Fidel Castro invitation to bilateral talk or will he reject him like our predecessors have done?"

The Economy / Mortgage Crisis

  1. We all saw how the mortgage crisis caused citizens to lose their hard working investment, what strategy will the Obama administration implement to help regulate the mortgage industry from committing to another scheming incentive?"

Science & Technology

  1. Will the Obama team welcome the production of a commercial heating equipment that fires hydrogen gas? Since such implementation would benefit the earth while reducing our dependency on fossil fuel, knowing that would the team allow its distribution?"

In regard to Israel & Palestinian conflict

My suggestion to Obama is to try to put an end to this useless war. A ground attack from the Israeli side into Gaza will result to a massive increase in civilian death on both side. This is dejavu all over again, Israel can not win this War unless their willing to wipe out all Palestinians in Gaza. Palestinians will not allow themselves to be controlled by Israel as we saw during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. If Israel attempt to occupied Gaza again, the same situation will exist. It will be a war that would never end, frequent deadly clashes between Hamas and Israeli soldiers will continue. Maybe an Israeli control of the Gaza Strip can be viewed as an attempt for them to protect themselves against occasional attack from the Hamas group. But are certain are we to assumed that an invasion of the Gaza Strip would secure Israel territory against Hamas attack. We have seen in the past that targeting Hamas leaders doesn't contributes to stability, their leaders often went into hiding at the start of the offensive and more often then that are mix with the civilians. The result of a ground incursion will result in a bigger conflict that would stimulate anger among the civilian population.

I don't think that conflict will ever end, you can only hope. I think Obama should stay out of it as much as possible. I am all for aid, but not for military or political involvement, not in these times. If America joins in with Israel, it will be a torch for the rest of the middle east, and if it tells Israel they are in the wrong, well that is just as tricky and consequential.

The involvement of America is unavoidable, any conflict that involves Israel, US will intervene. Israel is an allied of the United State. They have invested into our infrastructure, for us not to participate is as equal as not protecting our investment. We may not help Israel fight but we'll support any decision their make toward this conflict. However, any attempt to discourage Obama from reinstating peace in the region is a punishment to the Palestinians people. Although they're not equip to fight Israel, they're also not willing to surrender. Their patriotism will not allow them to be occupied peacefully by Israel. Any occupation will end up being a lasting war. In this case Israel opponents will be Palestinians civilians which among them will be the Hamas group. We've seen those tactics in Iraq before, those tactics usually caused massive civilians casualties. Any strategy that resulted in Hamas camouflaging themselves with the civilian population will result in more civilian death. In which case would accumulate more protest against the war while ruining Obama's reputation. This is why the best possible result for Obama is to try to reinstate peace. If he can achieve that then he has so far done something that is attractive to most human conscience. Most Americans don't want to get involve in another war nor do they want to support one. We would like for him to do what is right but for him to do that may require him to put interest aside. No one wants Israel to continue bumming Palestinians nor do they prefer the opposite. It's really a mater of public opinion because when civilians are being murdered, it's a concern to all of us. So our involvement is as important as those who are fighting this war because to stay and not do anything, is to allow a genocide of the civilian population on both sides.

I saw a special on Jimmy Carter a few months ago and he said it best that made me kind of feel the whole situation, "What would you do if you saw someone just taking away your backyard?"

Then on the flip side, if I had a neighbor throwing rocks over the fence and hurt my kid, damn right I would be pissed off and go into Mortal Kombat mode.

But who are we to fight this one for the rest of the world, are the other countries stepping up, making a stance, or is it just Americans who have to step into the hornets nest thats been on going for thousands of years, this struggle is older than our country and will last to the end of days. I think I would like America to take a back seat on this one, not be so upfront and taking charge, the world is a collective of nations and there are other countries that can be more closely involved.

I agree with you to a certain extent, yes there are other countries that are closer than us that should also get involve. And yes if my neighbor was throwing rocks over my fence, attempting to hurt my kids, you damn sure I would do something about it. That is why I said in my previous reply that maybe an Israeli control of the Gaza Strip can be viewed as an attempt for them to protect themselves against occasional attack from the Hamas group.

However, the problem that seems to bother most people is not the conflict over the territory but instead the total amount of civilian casualties that have continued to come up with this conflict. Especially when it involved kids, women and infants, regardless of what we may think, Obama will have to declare his position on the issue. The Palestinians as well as most Americans wants to hear what Obama has to say in regard to this conflict. Depending on the result of his action, judgment will be placed on it.  It is not only the American involvement that is necessary but also the UN, Jordan, Syria and Egypt which surrounds the boarder.

Perhaps a better resolution would be to have UN peace keepers guarding the Israel Palestinians boarder instead of Israeli soldiers.  You do that to prevent both sides from confronting each other.  If we’re conflicting neighbors, it’s easy for us to fight if we have to face each other every day. But if we don’t have to see each other then the chances of us throwing rocks at each other would be to a minimal if any at all.

Although this conflict has been in continuity with time doesn’t relived us from our moral responsibility as civilized people to make certain that genocide is not over look.   Under the Geneva Convention and for humanitarian concern, certain condition of war must be met and if those conditions are not achieved a violation of this law exit. This would then call for our intervention.  Civilians on both sides being killed is against the Geneva law.  Hamas and Israeli soldiers can go at it all they want who cares but when civilians have started to die in numerous amounts raised great concern.  I don’t disagree with your opinion on the premise of this war but I disagreed if we must stand and watch civilians being murdered.

Another thing that you might have over look is how this war would effect Obama’s reputation in the world as well as in America. Obama is an American president and if the majority of Americans preferred that he reinstate peace in the region than peace it must be. You must remember that this is Obama’s first term so in that sense public opinion is crucial for his report card. And as a smart president Obama is aware of that and therefore will make his first term a campaigning one that will cater to public approval.  Nice reply I like it.

Those are very good questions. Obama is going to have his hands full dealing with issues on so many fronts. But I do hope people have realistic expectations about any quick results. I don't know whether even 4 years is a enough time to have a turnaround from where we are now.

Thanks Princess. Some of them will not make it, I check every now and then and so far the questions that are leading are as follow: The Health Care question, the interest rate on credit cards and the mortgage crisis. If you haven't vote yet go to that site and do so. I'm not asking that you vote for any of my questions for they maybe other questions that are better than mine that you like more. You should vote for the questions that are more important to you.

Obama should consider a project collecting the rain, and melting snow of the Pacific Northwest, specifically the State of Washington, and make a permanent pipeline to California from some dam in the State of Washington, with big ponds in between where the collected water could be used to put out fires that affect that region yearly. This will put to work thousands of people and would permanently solve the water supply problems of California. The collection dam could also be used to generate electricity, like the Hoover Dam.

It seem as though the credit card question as been answered by the Federal Reserve. I have recently been informed by WBAI that a new change concerning credit card is on the verge of becoming true. A change that would regulate how credit card companies add interest to our debt. As it is now they are no oversight, credit card companies can pretty much do anything they want. According to Clare credit card companies will only be allow to raise interest rate under predetermine conditions. With the new law, interest rate will only be allow to increase after a full year with a 45 day notice. As it is now, credit card companies can raise your rate under the principle that is known as universal default. Which mean if you pay your utility bill late, they can raise the interest on your credit card. Now with this new law they can no longer do that, they can only raise if you fail to pay your credit card on time. The punishment for paying late will always be there, you will always have to make sure that you're not late on your credit card payments.

The only concern here is that this law will not be effective until July 2010. We have to wait more than a year before it can be active. Within that time do you think credit card companies will figure out a new way to cheat the system under those new regulations?

If you can figure out a new way to cheat the system, so can they. I will link you to the mp3 of this discussion and with your expertise in the credit card industry, you try to figure out a way to cheat the system under the new regulations. If you can manage to do that, than we can request an appeal for striker regulations.

I would like for you to hear it like I did so let us welcome Suzan & Clare to this discussion by clicking the link below.
