Jer 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Where is the "Old Path"? Was it in the very beginning? How can we go back to how it used to be in the beginning?

Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

We see that God walked in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day to converse with Adam. This is the "Old Path" that the Word of God is speaking about. For God to come down and walk among us and converse with us in the cool of the day. Man has already fallen out of fellowship with God. So now that we know what the old path is how do we walk this path?

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Joh 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

In order to get on the old path one must be born again according to the Word of God. We cannot walk the old path in the flesh but must walk in spirit.

God sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins. There is not a man or woman alive that Jesus did not die for. But even though Jesus died for us we must still accept Him and believe in Him. God wants all to be saved but cannot go against His own Word. He is very specific about the plan of salvation that He has sent forth into the world unto all that will accept Him.

God will not hold back salvation from anyone that will accept it. God is not a man that He should lie and has always spoken the truth. There is no other way to be saved. God is very specific as I stated earlier. Look at Noah and see how specific the plans were for the ark. God leaves nothing to chance and has done all the work that it takes for us to be saved. Many ask, "Why is there a need for salvation and why does God want us to be saved in the way that he has set forth?" The reason we need salvation is because God is so holy and righteous that He cannot even look upon sin. If He sees sin then it will burn. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. Not one of us can say we have never sinned. When sin burns, flesh burns also. The flesh is sinful and full of lusts. It is written (Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.) What this means is that we are born with a sinful nature (the flesh). We can overcome this sinful nature only by believing God, accepting the sacrifice of Jesus, asking forgiveness of our sins, and receiving Him as our Saviour.

Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

These verses speak about Jesus. There is no beauty in Him that we should desire Him means that He looks as any normal person looks. Nothing special in how He looks.

Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Jesus was despised of men when he walked as a man. He is still despised even to this day we now live in. Men still hide their faces from Him because they would rather live in their sins than to be saved by the sacrifice of Jesus.

Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Our griefs and our sorrows have been carried by Jesus. He knows where we are and what is going on in our lives. yet many still do not acknowledge Him. They still reject the salvation that is given freely by the grace of God.

Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Jesus was beaten to a pulp because of our sinful lives. Our sins is what caused Him to be bruised. He was chastised to pay for our sins. He took the stripes so that we can be healed.

Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

And yet many still refuse to acknowledge Him. Many still reject salvation.

Isa 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Jesus was oppressed and afflicted with many sorrows. He took upon His own self the sins of men that they be destroyed on the cross. He could have called down angels from heaven to come rescue Him but He did not open His mouth in His own defense. Jesus allowed these things to happen because He loves us that much.

Isa 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

He went into the grave just as the wicked do. He went into hell and preached the gospel to those that were in prison there.(1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.)

Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

In all of this God was pleased to chastise Jesus and cause Him to grief. The reason for this is because of our sins. There is no other way for men to be saved. There are people that say all paths lead to God and in a way they are right. All will stand before God in judgment at the white throne judgment. There is not a person that has died or alive today that will not stand before Him. But just to stand before Him in judgment is not what it takes to be saved. One must first ask forgiveness of sins, accept God's Word, believing in Jesus and accepting Him as your Saviour. If you do this, you will then become a new person in Christ. You will be baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Ghost. All the weight that is on your shoulders will disappear and a new outlook on life will enter in.

It is now time to accept God's Word and plan. What holds you back from accepting this great and wonderful gift that God has offered to you? I promise you this, if you will try God you will not regret it. The blessings of God are abundant and He waits to bless someone right this very minute. Why not let God bless you right now?

Prayer

Father God, I thank you for the Old Path that we have fallen away from. I thank you for the way to get back on that same path that was in the beginning. Lord I know that the only thing that can hold me back from receiving blessings from you is my own selfish self. I know that I (myself) am my worst enemy. I pray Lord that you help me to get back to the old path as was your desire in the beginning. I ask Lord that you help these that are just starting out to get back to the old path. I ask Lord that those who are yet undecided to convict with the power of the Holy Ghost that they might know you. Lord I praise your holy name. In Jesus mighty and precious name, AMEN!!!!
