69JUDEAN CANAANITE PEOPLE
Many today who claim Yehudi (Judean) national roots, claim Jacob's (Israel's) 4th son Yehudah (Judah) -GENESIS 29: 35; as the father of the Yehudim (Judeans). They say "The word Yehudi (Judean) comes from Yehudah (Judah), therefore the Yehudim (Judeans) are descendants of Judah. But however, there is a problem with that. Judah himself was not Yehudi (Judean) by nationality, according to the Holy Torah. It must be pointed out that Judah himself was a native born Syrian (Aramean) of Paddan-aram, born by a Syrian (Aramean) mother.
Isaac, father of Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) -GENESIS 25: 23-27; was born in the Philistine city, Gerar, of the ancient land of Canaan -GENESIS 20: 1; -GENESIS 21: 2-3; -GENESIS 21: 34. The Philistines were descendants of Hamitic Egyptians (Mizraim) -GENESIS 10: 13-14. Isaac was first to be circumcised in the normal course, when eight days old -GENESIS 21: 4; in recognition of the covenant promise -GENESIS 17: 9-14. Isaac lived in the land of the Negeb -GENESIS 24: 62. After the death of his father AbraHam, Isaac lived by Beer-lahai-roi -GENESIS 25: 11; in the land of the Negeb and there Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born.
Now Jacob (Israel), who was a native born Canaanite (as his father Isaac was), was the father of twelve sons known as the Beni Yshraal (Sons of Israel). 11 sons were born to Jacob (Israel) in Syria by Syrian women -GENESIS 35: 23-26. Benjamin was born in the land of Canaan.
SONS OF JACOB (Israel) BY LEAH
1.) Ruben
2.) Simeon
3.) Levi
4.) Judah
5.) Issachar
6.) Zabulon
SONS OF JACOB (Israel) BY RACHEL
7.) Joseph (= Ephraim and Manasse. Manasse at the East of the Jordan and Manasse at the West of the Jordan.)
8.) Benjamin
SONS OF JACOB (Israel) BY BILAH (Servant of Rachel)
9.) Dan
10.) Naphtali
SONS OF JACOB (Israel) BY ZILPAH (Servant of Leah)
11.) Gad
12.) Asher
As seen above, the 4th son of Jacob (Israel) was given the name Judah by his mother Leah. He became known as the progenitor of the Israelitic tribe called :
1.) The sons of Judah
2.) The House of Judah
3.) The people of Judah
4.) The Judeans
5.) Judah
Yehudah (Judah), the fourth son of Jacob (Israel) and Leah, was infact Syrian (Aramean). 11 of the sons of Jacob (Israel) were Syrian (Aramean), including Dinah, his only daughter.
Yehudah (Judah), 4th son of Jacob (Israel) and Leah, separated from his brothers, who were not Yehudim (Judean) by nationality but Syrian (Aramean), and at that particular time were living at Dothan (which is about twenty-five miles north of Shechem). From Dothan Yehudah (Judah) went down to the South Country -GENESIS 38: 1.
The Southren part of Canaan was called Yehudah (Judah) even before Yehudah (Judah) the 4th son of Jacob (Israel) and Leah was even born. This can be clearly seen through the very name Yehudit (Judit), which was the name of the Canaanite-Hittite wife of Esau (Edom), daughter to Beeri the Hittite -GENESIS 26: 34; whose very name means: a woman of Yehudah, or a Judean woman of the ancient land of Canaan. Hamitic-Canaanite Judean people existed a very long time before Judah, the 4th son of Jacob (Israel), was even born. If you love Truth, please consider the following :
Let us now take a look at -GENESIS 26: 34:
..."And Esau was a son of forty years. And he took a wife, Judith (Yehudit), the daughter of Beeri the Hittite (Khety)"... -GENESIS 26: 34.
Please Take Note :
..."And he (Esau) took a wife, Judith (Yehudit), the daughter of Beeri the Hittite (Khety)"...
Judith (Yehudit) was the daughter of Beeri. The name Beeri means: Of Wells. Beeri was a Hittite (Khety), which word is spelled in Canaanite-Hebrew letters as: *Heth, Taw, Yodh* (CHTY) and pronounced as: Khety.
Now these particular Hittite (Khety) people were aboriginal Hamitic Canaanites who descended from Heth (Khet) who's name means: Fear. The name Heth (Khet) is spelled in Canaanite-Hebrew letters as: *Heth, Taw* (CHT) and pronounced as: Khet.
Heth (Khet) is the father of the Hittites (Khetim) and was the second son of Canaan (Kenaan) -GENESIS 10: 15.
So we see that Esau the father of the Edomites took all Canaanite wives -GENESIS 36: 1-3.
Let us here take a look at -GENESIS 27: 46:
..."And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life before the daughters of Heth. If Jacob (Israel) takes a wife from the daughters of Heth, like these from the daughters of the land, what is my life to me?"... -GENESIS 27: 46
Please Take Note to what Rebekah said:
..."If Jacob takes a wife from the daughters of Heth, like these from the daughters of the land, what is my life to me?"...
The above Scripture establishes the fact that Rebekah who was Syrian did not want Jacob to take a wife from the daughters of Khet (Heth) who were Canaanite. Was it only because of their nationality or were there other reasons why Rebekah did not want her sons to take wives from the daughters of Khet (Heth)?
To find out the real reason why, let us here consider the name of Judith (Yehudit), the daughter of Beeri the Hittite (Khety), wife of Esau.
Judith (Yehudit) is a Canaanite name, and in the Canaanite language it is spelled *Yodh, He, Waw, Dalet, Yodh, Taw* and pronounced : Yay-hoo-deet, which means: "Jewess" (a Judean woman). It is the feminine form of Yehudi pronounced : Yay-hoo-dee, which means: "Jew" (a Judean man).
The shocking truth which the Holy Torah presents to us here is that Judit (Yehudit), Canaanite-Hittite wife of Esau, was infact Yehudiyah ("Jewish") as seen by her very name which itself means: Jewess.
At the time of Esau and Judit (Yehudit) the Israelitic tribes had not yet come into existence. Judah (Yehudah) the 4th son of Jacob (Israel) was not even born. Now think about that, here in the Holy Torah is found a woman of Canaanite nationality (a Canaanite-Hittite) who is called by the name Yehudit ("Jewess"), and that even long before the father of the Israelitic tribe of Judah (Yehudah) was even born. Now is'nt that something?
Now we see clearly, Rebekah did not want her sons to take wives from the daughters of Heth (Khet) because of their Nationality. The Canaanite-Hittites were Yehudi (Judean) people! And Rebekah was Syrian (Aramean).
The Hamitic Canaanites were the first and Original Yehudim (Judeans), and Judit (Yehudit), daughter of Beeri the Hittite (Khety), is truly the only Yehudi (Judean) to be mentioned in the Holy Torah at -GENESIS 26: 34.
..."And say, Thus says YHWH ALHYM to Jerusalem: Your root and your nativity is of the land of Canaan; your father was a 'Amorite and your mother a Hittite (Khety)"... -EZEKIEL 16: 2
CANAANITE TRIBES
..."CANAAN begot Sidon (the father of the Sidonians), his first-born, and Heth (the father of the Hittites), and the Jebusite (the original people of Jerusalem), and the Amorite (the people of which 'Abram/AbraHam was in alliance with), and the Girgasite, And the Havite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. And the border of the Canaanites extended from Sidon (Phoenicia / today's Saida), which is at the entrance of Gerar, as far as Gaza; which is at the entrance of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, as far as Lasha.
These are the sons of Ham (Kham), after their families and their languages, in their lands and in their nations"... -GENESIS 10: 15-20

KAHANA SAID:
So you see, it didn't matter if there were a hundred or a thousand Judahs, or Judiths in existence amongst the Amalekites, or Moabites, or Canaanites, it was just a name, but once the civil war of separation came about in the 10th
century BC only then was there actually a unique regional entity known as Judea.
RESPONSE:
Thank you Kahana for blessing this Hub with your insights.
Actually, in the land of the Canaanites there existed a place (or city) which was there long before, and which was still there at the time Joshua divided up the lots of land to the tribes of Israel, which was called Yehud -JOSHUA 19: 45.
Now, in ancient times people of the land of Canaan were identified by the city or region they were born at or which they lived in. Here's an example, people of the city or region of Jebus (of which Zion was it's center), were called Jebusites -1 CHRONICLES 11: 4. Jebusites are Canaanites -GENESIS 10: 15-16. They were the original people of Jerusalem.
Using that as an example to say this, a person born, or who lived in, the ancient Canaanite city or region of Yehud -
JOSHUA 19: 45, was called a Yehudi (Jew). People collectively of that place were called Yehudim (Jews). The
Canaanite word Yehud means : Honourable.
..."And Esau was a son of forty years. And he took a wife, Judith (Yehudit), the daughter of Beeri the Hittite (Khety)"... -GENESIS 26: 34.
Scripture makes it evident that Canaanite Yehudim (Jews) existed long before the Israelitic kingdom of Yehudah (Judah) was even established. We must therefore conclude that the first Yehudim (Jews) were Canaanite-Hittites and Edomites. It is certain, according to the Scriptures, that Yehudim (Jews) were not Israel. You will find in -2 CHRONICLES 13: 16-17 that Israel and Judah were at war, and Judah killed 500,000 men of Israel. Israel was the Northern kingdom, and had separated from Judah who remained in the south. So you see, an honourable name does make a big difference -PROVERBS 22: 1.

Very informative but it overlooks the single most important concept and that was the tribal division of the lands after the conquest by Joshua. It had nothing to do with the time of Jacob and his sons because we're talking several hundred years later. And then it was a couple of hundred years later, not until the separation between King Reheboam and King Jeroboam that a country referred to Judea even came into existence. The name was only adopted because of the three tribes that inhabited the area, the tribe that had dominance were the Judahites or those that claimed Judah as the father of their clan. The Benjaminites and Simeonites were then themselves lumped into the Kingdom of Judea and all were referred to as Judeans. Even those Levite cities within the kingdom, populated by Levites by "national" recognition became Judeans. The remaining tribal populations in the north were the Israelites because in essence they represented the majority of the tribes and were the continuance of the original Kingdom even though their Kings had nothing to do with the established Davidic line in the south. And the Davidic line being from the tribe of Judah was just one more reason why they decided to call the kingdom after their own tribal patriarch rather than attempt to have something more universal that would appeal to the other tribes within the border as well. So you see, it didn't matter if there were a hundred or a thousand Judahs, or Judiths in existence amongst the Amalekites, or Moabites, or Canaanites, it was just a name, but once the civil war of separation came about in the 10th century BC only then was there actually a unique regional entity known as Judea.
