The New Paradigm For Selling in Today's Network Marketing Industry

If you are very quiet, you can hear it in the distance. A slight rumbling that seems to get a little bit louder with each passing moment.

The calm before the storm. You've seen it. Everything is so serene and quiet but there is that subtle breeze blowing that tells you something big might be brewing. And then it hits, like a thunderbolt in the night. Coming out of nowhere. What is it?

It's the sound of hundreds, maybe thousands of Old School Network Marketers heading towards the door and entering the 21st Century.

That's right. It is the New Paradigm Shift in the Network Marketing Industry and there hasn't been anything quite like it in the history of the industry.

What exactly is a paradigm shift? By definition it is a "notion of a major change in a certain thought-pattern - a radical change in personal beliefs, complex systems or organizations, replacing the former way of thinking or organizing with a radically different way of thinking or organizing."

Welcome to the 21st Century in Network Marketing. The old fashioned methods of pounding the telephones, holding meetings, and pitching everyone you know about your opportunity have come to an end. Sponsoring and Prospecting as you've known it is quickly becoming obsolete and is being replaced by a newer, more advanced model.

The Model of Attraction Marketing. Those using the old methods either have yet to discover this new model of marketing or they are still holding out; hoping in vain that this is just a passing trend and that it will disappear as quickly as it came on the scene.

Not likely.

Attraction Marketing is here to stay and if you aren't a student of it yet, you need to become one sooner than later.

In order to understand this new paradigm shift, you first need to examine why the old ways are no longer working in today's market.

People today are flooded with information from every avenue. The internet, television, radio, e-mails; just to name a few - ever hear of the word "spam"?

People are so sick and tired of being "SOLD" that they shudder at the mere mention of the word. They detest pesky salesman and despise solicitations. We have basically become "statistics" to the marketing world and everything from how many tubes of toothpaste we buy to how many times we visited a website are tracked by some organization or another. (Polling comes to mind immediately)!

It seems that corporations tap into our very existence and intrude in our daily lives on a consistent basis. Is it any wonder we have all built up walls around us to protect ourselves and our families from this intrusion?

Desperate times call for desperate measures and Network Marketing is no exception. Why should this industry be immune from the ever changing world around it? Corporations change and readjust their strategies daily so how could methods that have been around for 20+ years still be expected to work in today's environment? It is unreasonable and unrealistic. Yet, Network Marketers are still teaching it. Why? Because they have yet to discover these new methods.

Enter - Attraction Marketing. The new paradigm when it comes to selling in today's market.

If you are going to sell something to someone today, you need to think about it in different ways. You need to find a way to get INVITED into their world and have them come to you. You need to be seen as someone they WANT to talk with rather than a pest. You want your prospects coming to you first and giving you permission to talk with them. No selling; but rather offering value, building trust and cultivating relationships.

Specifically, in this industry, the best way to increase your value in the marketplace is to increase your knowledge about what you are doing.

Unfortunately, though, most people will not educate themselves on this model of attraction and they will be left out in the cold wondering where they went wrong.

95% of those who start a home business fail and one of the main reasons for that failure is because they do not have enough knowledge to stay competitive in today's market. Times are changing rapidly and you need to change with them.

How do you Generate Attraction?

Think about this for a moment. Are you attracted to and aspire to be like someone more successful than yourself in your organization? Of course you do. People are programmed to feel attraction towards those that have a higher levels of status or value. This is called DOHV or Demonstrations of Higher Value and it is key in attracting others to you.

You must demonstrate that your value is equal to or greater than that of your prospects or they will not buy from you nor will they join your opportunity.

Would you rather work with someone who can teach you skills like attraction marketing or someone who can't really teach you anything at all? The answer is pretty obvious and that is what value really means.

If you have no real value to offer someone, then you will struggle in your business.

Yet, Old School methods teach us that EVERYONE is a prospect. Not so with the New Model. You don't have to, nor do you want to, be chasing people down that have absolutely no interest in what you have to offer. They aren't interested, period. Leave them alone. Let people come to you just as they go to a store when they want to buy something. The store doesn't show up at their front door, does it? That would be door-to-door sales and we all know how much we detest that intrusion in our lives.

But, what the store does do is send out flyers through the mail letting you know that they might have something of value to offer you. Perhaps they have a sale on an item you have been looking for. So what is your next step? You GO TO THE STORE and look for that item or you go on-line and shop around!

You have made the decision to go there to shop around and look and perhaps even make purchase. You see, the store has something you want and you now have gone to them to take a look or you have browsed through their website. Either way, you will make your purchase based on the value you receive. Whoever offers you the most value will be the winner.

People buy. They like to buy and always will. But they HATE being sold to and will avoid it at all costs. Why do people return to the same store over and over again to make a purchase? It is not because they have something that no one else has - think Lowes vs Home Depot. Chances are you return to the store where the salesman offers you the most value. The one who is always willing to help you find what you want even if it means he doesn't get the sale. He isn't desperate for the sale, rather he is more interested in helping his customer find what they need. Value.

These are the same principles that Attraction Marketing is based on, yet Network Marketers have struggled for years trying to force feed their opportunity or products down someone's throats. This might work in the interim, and you may even recruit a few good people into your organization this way, but more often than not, it is a path to failure and disappointment.

If you want to increase your value in the eyes of your prospect, then you need to increase your knowledge and experience and you need to do it now.

Recruiting and selling are about leadership and you MUST demonstrate that you are a leader through your words and your actions.

Invest in yourself. People join YOU, not your opportunity. People buy from YOU, not your company.

These are the keys to what Attraction Marketing is all about and how it can absolutely change the way you approach your business.

The paradigm is shifting. Are you going to move in the right direction or be left behind?

Anita,

I like your points on educating self. That is so important. Also like your statements “get INVITED into their world” and “door-to-door sales” that is great! Wish I would have thought of that.

This truly is a Paradigm Shift as you say and not easy to make. One needs to have a great guide like you to educate them and also to get them back on the right path when they fall backward into the old ways.

"Old School methods teach us that EVERYONE is a prospect" I plan to expose this to too! I hate to hear someone say "talk to every one you meet" Ughhh being shut down is not fun. Learning to draw people who are interested is what makes this business fun. keep getting that message out.
