The Passing Away of MLM?

Is old school network marketing really dead? I hear so many people tell me that old school network marketing is dead, or contrary people tell me I cannot build a network marketing business through the internet. So let me tell you what I believe works and doesn't work, so you don't kill yourself out there building your business.

First of all be very careful where you spend your money most advertising is very costly and not very duplicatable. If your going to spend 5K per month building your MLM Business, you might want to just build a traditional business - got it!

I have yet to sign up 1 person from a lead list. I have spent hundreds on leads over the past few years and have seen nothing but hours upon hours calling people who to be quite honest, simply do not qualify for business. Unfortunately most leads are just garbage, so don't waste your money on leads unless you are in the green on your business and want to do some test marketing. Calling people that don't put their hand up is like telemarketing. Who wants to telemarket? We are not telemarketers? We are not salespeople. Believe it or not, most salespeople fail miserably in network marketing. It is not called network selling, it is called network MARKETING.

Where can you find success? You can find it through generating your own leads. How do you do that? It is simple and here is what I do: Pay Per Click, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, blogging, Video Blogging, Direct Matches, flyers on bulletin board w/business cards, networking events, craigslist, meetings, and referrals. I have received 3 or 4 phone calls today with people calling about my business - most didn't qualify. And have followed up with 3 or 4 emails inquiring about my opportunity, and have phoned others who scored high on my website. My marketing budget is around $150 per month (That's Duplicatable).  My brother spent $30K last month to make not much more than I did, spending a few hundred bucks (duplicatable).   That is it folks, I don't do anything else, which simply put is I do most everything like any normal business but don't spend a whole lot of money to talk to 5 to 10 new prospects daily. Most of my warm market is not qualifed to do this business, nor do they want to do this business, nor do I want to partner with whiners and complainers, so I rarely approach them with the opportunity, usually only the product. I have found that my warm market (friends and relatives) make better customers, than business partners. But everyone's circle is different, so keep that in mind.

I don't know about you, but ask anyone who is selling The Spider System, Magnetic System, the stand on your head and pray system, the don't sell or talk to anyone system, the don't build relationship network marketing business, and ask them if it is working. The answer will always be yes. So what is the truth. Here is my belief of what is really going on out there. Most of the people pushing these programs have never made a dime in MLM or network marketing. Most of these people want you to believe that a system will do all of the work for you. Systems are great, but if they were perfect than we would no longer need human beings as managers, sales people, or even customer service reps. If this were the case, your company could just run their own website and system and forget about all of the distributors. Why pay out 50% if you don't have to. But fortunately for us most know better, you see we still need a human touch to make informed decisions and this is why I have rarely ever signed anyone up in any of my businesses without a phone call, a personal email, or a communication of some sort, and I use a great system. But my system is just a tool that allows me to use technology to see who has put their hand up so I only spend my time chasing people who are interested and don't have to endure hours upon hours of rejection. I let my website do the sorting for me, but I still have to follow up. I still have to make personal contact with those people that put their hand up. I have yet to sign up 1 person where I didn't have to make some sort of human interaction. If you are signing up hundreds of people via the internet without making some personal contact than I don't know if what you are doing is MLM? As MLM is still a contact sport, whether you like it or not. I tell most people who I speak with if they aren't willing to build relationships and deal with people either on the phone, in person, or over the net, to find another business to get involved with. As they will be very dissappointed if they do MLM if they think they can just sit back and not have to talk to anyone.

Hi John,

I just wanted to give you your props by saying what a lot of us in Network Marketing believe.

The whole "InterNetwork Marketing" is hyped by the very same people selling the systems. They tell you that the ONLY way to build your organization is via the internet and not the "old-fashioned" way. However, the problem is that our business is built and sustained through relationships and friendships that simply doesn't exist by contacting a stranger on the net.

Yes, you may attract some people and get them to sign up via the net, but how many of them stay, duplicate, and prosper? Very few or none.

Word of mouth is faster and more powerful than the net and always will be. It breaks through the protective cocoon that so many hide within.

When my people tell me that one-on-one prospecting is too slow or not as appealing as the internet, I tell them not to see just the one person in front of them when they are talking to a prospect. See the network of hundreds behind them much like the Verizon commercials.

That's what true "network" marketing is all about.

Can you hear me now? : )

Good job John.

Take care,

Chad

Hi John

I so agree with what you are saying. There is more and more *GURU'S* on tthe internet that have that miracale system that just has people signig up with your business. Online, with out even knwing who there sponsor will be. The thought of it it too funny .

But what is not so funny , is that a lot of people is get cought up in those programms. Spend a ton of money on buying leads that brings them nothing. Then go arround saying IT DOES NOT WORK. Then they quit.

Network Marketing is all about people, has nothing to do with, company product or service. If people like you and beleive you can HELP THEM in any way. They will work with you.

I really like your frame of mind and would be glad if you would share your views on my web site http://masteringmlmskills.ning.com/profile/St

Dont worry it does not pitch my business, it's just to gather information on the industry that may help any one, regadless of the business.

Thank you

Stanley

Hi John,

I totaly agree with you and to say it straight: most people start with mlm or networkmarketing and they even don't know what it is. They got blind folded by the opportunity to make a fortune without talking to anybody. But this biz is about making friends, new relationships and talking to people.

So I decided to qualify my prospects by sending them to a webside where I only published "The Brilliant Compensation" by Tim Sales. This is an awesome tool and when people watched the whole video they know what this biz is all about and then they can make their decission on going on and look at my business after they contacted me first.

When they decide to join my business they get equiped with all the knowledge on how to build the business successful and I do all the coaching for free, because I find it more satisfying for myself the help other people to become successful. For me this is the only way to become successful myself.

all the best

Axel

John,

I have a confession to tell you. When I first got started in nerwork marketing I recall seeiing your face and your comments blasted all over he internet to the point where, due to my lack of knowledge, I thought you were doing it all wrong.

As I started to learn more I realized how right you were.

John, your system is duplicateable and don't let anybody tell you any different.

Your success is obvious and I am glad to know you.
