How it Works
Whenever you enter the payment process of a website, the PayPal plugin takes action. A window appears at the top of the browser asking if you'd like to use your PayPal account for this transaction. For added security, you picked an avatar that shows up. If there is no avatar shown or it's a different avatar, you stop everything because something's been compromised. After you agree, the next window asks if you want to generate what's called a Secure Card Number for one-time use for multi-use. Click the multi-use if you use sites to pay your bills or other sites you frequent. What happens now is that PayPal will generate a credit card number that associates itself with your account, complete with expiration date and a three digit code. This is all displayed in the plugin's window. PayPal will fill in the credit card number for you, so make note of the expiration date and the code. Even if you forget there is a menu option on the plugin where you can view past Secure Cards you have created. The first time I used it, I couldn't remember the expiration date and code, but luckily, it's saved in your account.
Seconds later, my transaction was complete and my bill was paid.

Wow, this is awesome news for me. I'm always bummed when I go to order something online, and find that they are not "PayPal Ready". Shopping online is fun, but i always dread the checkout process, having to type in all of my credit card info. It just takes too long! I'm downloading the plug-in as I speak, and I'm probably going to go buy something with it, just to test it out. Thanks man.
You did a great job of letting people know about the plugin, much better than PayPal. I'm an online seller, and I accept PayPal, but I rarely look at their site for news. I missed this one completely.
Those PayPal financial strategists are absolutely brilliant. I don't know how the deal with MasterCard works, exactly, but I'm guessing PayPal gets a cut of the non-PayPal seller's MasterCard fees for offering this service to buyers.
Thanks for the info!
Very informative hub! I love tools like this plugin that make life easier. :-) Thanks for your recent comment on my brussel sprouts hub, too! I appreciate the positive feedback.
I download the paypal plug in and the ebay toolbaar and neither one shows up on my browser. What can the reason be? It did on another computer but I cannot get it at all on this one again. Used to have them before, uninstalled and now want to use them again. No sense in having them if they aren't on the webpage.
