The People Who Robbed My House Were Caught
65
Thi hub is the result of My House Was Robbed While We Were Sleeping. Two days ago, the robbers were caught. They robbed another house in my village and was intersected in a checkpoint. This is the fourth house actually. They were in a taxi cab and the police questioned them for bringing a stereo and some other household stuff at 3 in the morning. They looked very suspicious so they were brought to the police station and was introduce the cell where they would be living for a while.
Curious as a cat, I went to see the people who did a series of robbery in my village including my house. I was devastated to see that this were teenagers. The youngest being 14 and the oldest 22. There were 4 of them. One was the brother of a midget who sells fish in the village with his motorcycle. I do not know if the midget served as a look out but it is unlikely because he was a very nice hardworking person.
I was very sorry when I saw
those kids. What would their future be? I was weighing my options
whether to press charges against them or not. I know it was their
choice but in the long run what is the reason behind that lead them to
this kind of life? Poverty, yes and influence and probably drugs. For
some reason, the society has something to do with it. Can the
government exert more effort to give programs and jobs to kids like
this. I am not a technical person and I am not the type who's
interested in politics but somehow we can do something about it, right?
If you were in my shoe, would you press charges? Their will be other people pressing charges against them so regardless they will still go to jail. I also fear that if this are drug addicts, they will come hunt us eventually since they live just outside the village. Perhaps this are even gangs, I don't know. What would you do?

Thanks taodie. You know, you influence me a lot. I'll listen to you.
good to hear karma didn't lose its way - though she migh have detoured my way a bit! LOL
great news, sheena! as for your dilemma, no. you know how bureaucracy works in our side of the world :D
Oh! My candy boys are here to give me that sweet support. Thanks Cris!
Sheena, toad is right. Let the law handle it, hopefully they'll lern a lesson and go straight. You never know. Did you get your stuff returned?
No, C.C. Unfortunately, they've cashed it already. Nowhere to be found. I'm suffering with a 14" TV with a slanting picture. I think I got stiff neck when watching my favorite shows. :)
thanks!
Hi Sheena, I'm not a candyboy (tee hee) but I'm with Goldentoad, Cris and CC on this. Let the law handle them. Sounds like you have some mixed feelings about pressing charges and your motives are less revenge than curiosity about these teens. If I were in your shoes I would not press charges. But I am not you!
I agree with goldentoad. As long as others are pressing charges. I guess. I definitely think that they should be punished, otherwise they'll just keep doing it (and might anyway). If no one else was, you would have to come forward.
Sorry you were burglarized. i hope you didn't lose too much.
Do not do it?
Some one else will do it. What if every one else decides that some one else will press charges, in the end no one does. The police then feel that if no else has the responsibility to do what should be done, so they also do nothing. The criminals then walk, free.
They carry on from where they left off, and do it at again. This time someone wakes up while they are in the house, gets a fright and has a fatal heart attack, and dies.
Glad they found the people who did this at least. At our library a group of young people had the audacity to rob the library bookstore, which is run by volunteers that are not paid. Since the books on sale there are only about a few cents a piece the robbers only made off with $25 dollars. I feel sorry for the person they held up, but the thieves were dumb enough to come back a second time and got caught thankfully. I hate to hear about when people have their cars broken in and their radios burglarized, which seems to be a very common crime in this area.
Many times younger people do get caught up in these type of burglary and crimes. Hopefully the boys in your case will rethink their actions and not do that again.
First of all, I like your writing. And your attitude also.
Second, If it where my son who did those things, I would want the victims to press charges. Being this young, they need to learn that their are consiquences for your actions- the earlier the better! Let's point a finger at who their role models were and not so much society. It started at home in one way or another. If they where encouraged to have more integrity they would have knocked on your door and asked if they could do chores for money instead of sneaking in and stealing from you. Poor people can live with dignity too.
That is my take on this one. I have just seen too many kids get away with things like this and their parents don't hold them responsible. Societies problems start in the home.
( stepping down form the soapbox)
The Real Tomato is right, they need punishment for their actions. Someone could of been hurt or even killed. How are you suppose to teach someone from right and wrong if you don't punish them for their wrong?
Let God Guide you as many children due bad things due to their up bringing or peer pressure. They however need to be punished, but just pray for them and forgive them , be angry with the parenting not the child as they are reaching out for hope.:)
I agree with... well everyone else, if you can't do the time then don't commit the crime
I say Press charges...by not doing that you are saying "awww it's ok...you promise not to do that again"? laws were made for a reason and it upsets me that all that seems to happen is more laws get made and none are enforced...there are too many LOOP holes now...You can still forgive them and love them and pray for them...but I agree If you commit the crime...you do the time...
they used to cut peoples parts off when a crime was committed..fingers hands it depemed on the crime...not saying I am for that but it showed the public what sort of a person you had been...
You must follow your heart though and do what you Know is right...no one else can do that for you...not one of us here...God Bless sweetie...I know you will do what you feel is right...G-Ma :O) Hugs & Peace
That's funny a similiar thing happened to us too! A group of teenagers breaking in to houses. The youngest was 12. All he took out of our house was my playstation 2 and my moms piggy bank. He is now having to do some communnity service work and having to pay back what he took from our house. :D But I'm still mad from the fact that he took my memory along with my newest video game in it.

If others are pressing charges, I wouldn't. However, over here the law can pick up the case anyways and in most cases you are to remain anonymous.
