Older homes tend to have smaller bathrooms and kitchens are often designed that way as well. If you want to put up standard wall shelves you probably won't have enough space. Corner shelves can save the day in this situation by using space that has otherwise been totally neglected. Corner shelves are perfect inside your bathtub or shower for storing shampoo and other bathing accessories. Kitchen corners are a perfect place to keep spices, cook books or just decorative plates or plants.

Corner Shelves in the Kitchen

People never used to acquire half the amount of stuff that we all seem to have today so houses weren't built with these kinds of storage needs in mind. Builders today accommodate this need but that doesn't help you if you own an older home. Of course you can always pull out all your kitchen cabinets and redo the whole kitchen but that is a very costly venture. Older cabinets are often well built and provide an antique look that some people prefer so if would be a shame to dispose of them. Adding some corner shelves will give you the added storage you need as well as adding a decorative element to the room.

Since upper kitchen cabinets are much smaller than lower ones, you can add spinning corner shelves in the lower cabinets. This works well particularly when you have a lot of food items to store and you still want to have enough space left for other items such as dishes and pans. Our tendency to stock up on food leaves little room for other things so corner shelves can really come in handy.

Creating Extra Space with Corner Wall Shelves

Corner shelving gives a traditional look even to a modern home. Nooks and crannies are especially suitable places for a corner wall shelf and they add a lot of style as well. Old or barren areas look nicer if covered or decorated. Instead of spending a lot of money on renovations, you can greatly enhance the area by putting up a corner shelf. Corner shelves don't just add design, they also provide more storage for your things.

If you are really strapped for space, a corner shelf can take the place of a night stand in your bedroom. If your bed is near the corner of two walls, add corner wall shelves or even a few vertically stacked shelves to hold a lamp, your jewelry box or books you read while in bed.

Corner bookshelves are a great way to use dead space, decorate a corner and provide more space for your books.

There are so many creative ways you can decorate your home and make it functional at the same time. What ever interior design you choose, you should know that you will never go wrong with corner shelves. A nice accent to any home and more storage at the same time.

I agree! We added a small corner shelf in our bedroom and are amazed at how it adds to the overall feel of the room.
