Are you looking for a flattering haircut? Zero in on the shape of your face to find the style that will make you look your best.

Heart Shape - If your jawline is narrow and you have full, high cheekbones and a wide forhead. The perfect haircut for you would be bangs that draw attention to your eyes and balance out the strength of your chin. Avoid chin-length cuts, this can overpower your features. Styling Tip: Use pomade to set your bangs (pomade also called pomatum is a greasy or waxy substance).

Oval Shape - If the length of your face is about 1-1/2 times the width of your face. The perfect haircut for you would be multiple, shorter layers near the cheekbones that create fullness on the sides. Avoid layers on the top of your head, this can make your face seem too long. Styling Tip: Use flexible hairspray to keep your layers in place and keeps your hair soft and shiny.

Round Shape - If the width and length of your face is equal. The perfect haircut for you would be a few chin-length layers that hug your face, making it seem slimmer. Avoid super-short cuts that can make your face look wider. Styling Tip: Silicone serum will smooth the hair around your face.

Square Shape - If your forehead, cheekbones and jawline are almost equal in width. The perfect haircut for you would be long, well-spaced layers that both lengthen and soften your face. Avoid a straight edge at the jawline or blunt bangs that can make your face look too angular. Styling Tip: Mousse will give you volume and define your longer layers.

Oblong Shape - If your face is narrow and longer than it is wide. The perfect haircut for you would be chin-length layers or a bob that adds fullness to your face. Avoid long one-length hair that can make your face seem longer. Styling Tip: Blow out your hair with a round brush to give it fullness.

I hope this helps everyone who can't seem to find that hairstyle that says WOW!

Great informative hub. Maybe if I stop putting my hair in a pony tail I can figure out the shape of my own face. It's oblong when it's down, and oval when it's up. Wonder if that tails too tight! :-)
