The Perfect Match

African-American males are the perfect specimens for developing prostate cancer!

Currently the CDC (The United States Center of Disease Control), is studying the possible reasons why African-American males are at a higher risk for prostate cancer. In 1998, the CDC conducted a study concerning 1/100,000 males per U. S. population over the age of 45 and prostate cancer death rates by ethnicity. The discovery was alarming.

  • Out of every 100,000 males, 70.7 died as a result.

  • For every African-American diagnosed 159.7 died as a result of prostate cancer

  • Hispanic males- 47.6

  • American Indian/Alaska Native- 37.2

  • Asian/Pacific Islander- 26.4

Currently the CDC scientists do not have concrete evidence as to why prostate cancer is more prevalent in African-American. The possible reasons under review are and including African-American culture, environment, and the complete biological make-up of the disease in black men.

How serious is Prostate Cancer in African-American males?

Prostate cancer in African-American men is very serious. Out of the 10 leading causes of cancer death in African-American males, prostate cancer is second to the number one reason, lung cancer. It is the fourth leading cause of death in African-American men over the age of 45. The number one leading cause of death in African-American men is gunfire. In reference to disease, heart disease kills thirty-one percent of males over the age of 45. The lifetime risk of prostate cancer in African American men is about 19%, or 1 in 5. One out of twenty African-American males diagnosed with prostate cancer dies. That is a 5% percent death rate.

HIV/AIDS diagnoses double in young black men, study says

Bloomberg News

New cases of HIV and AIDS doubled in six years among black males as young as age 13 as many continue having sex with other males without knowing they're infected. The increasing number of infections in young men could be linked to some shifting from always using condoms as a primary risk reduction strategy to non-condom strategies, according to a U.S. government report.

Are you crazy my brothers? Wear protection each and every time. And if she doesn't want protection worn, something must be wrong with her then. You only get one shot at life, but sex???? You can get that anytime just as long as you are not dead!

  • Be smart. Think about what you are doing to yourself.
  1. Think first!
  2. Apply a condom!
  3. Go to work!
It's the ABC's of life baby............................!

Such nice pictures! Prostate cancer is unfortunate, do you think that black men are at a higher risk because they don't get screened early enough, is it an insurance issue? Are black people less likely to go the doctor because they don't feel that they will be treated equally? Since black men also have a higher incidence of high blood pressure, I wonder if there is a connection there? Too many questions and not enough answers for minorities.
