Perfection--The Ping Golf Club
79Ping Golf Clubs Help Ball Striking
The first thing every golfer must do, if he is to be good at his game, is to strike the ball properly. In order to do this, the golfer must have a set of clubs that will accomplish this task and that is what the Ping golf club is for. First and foremost--striking the ball.
Karsten's Story
Karsten Solheim was the inventor of the Ping golf club who had a new way of looking at the golf club.
According to the story Karsten was not himself a great ball-striker and he started to wonder about creating a club that would help him hit the ball better. His intention was not to become world-famous, but simply to better-enable his own game.
By 1959 Karsten's experiments in putting and putter-design had evolved into his now-famous 'ping' putter which is nothing more than an inspiration of the sound the club makes when it hits the ball--"ping".
In the same year, Sports Illustrated published an article in their August issue about the new ping golf club labelling it the 'musical putter'.
From this point on everything was uphill for the Ping golf club and a multitude of golfers were eager to get themselves a Ping golf set to add to their collection of golf sets.
Today the Ping golf club is a U.S. company which is located in Phoenix, Arizona (Karsten Manufacturing Corporation.) There are an excess of four-hundred patents registered for the ping golf club and the unique designs uphold the innovation and practical appeal golfers have found in all Ping sets.

Ping Patents
The now renowned Heel-toe weighting type of Ping golf club was patented in '62. This design literally revolutionalized the way that golf clubs were manufactured.
Then again, in '69 yet another type of Ping golf club was announced known as the perimeter-weighted, investment-cast iron. Concept behind this type of ping golf club is simply that the perimeter weighting is cabpable increasing the moment of inertia. In this way, when a ball is not struck squarely on the face the club allows for it and the golf ball is not sent as far off-course as it otherwise might be.
Still another creative idea for the Ping golf sets was the application of investment casting in the construction of the K Series Irons. In fact this is not strictly a novel technology as the old name for it was the lost-wax process but the purpose of this method is to assure exacting detail and reliability to all of the parts of the Ping golf club.
Finally a patent for the Ping golf club was created known as the Cushin Selective Filtering Insert.
This is a registered invention screens out and diseminates the undesirable frequencies that can bear upon one's muscle, bone, and connective tissue while golfing. By means of this invention, the golfer receives vibrations via the club, yes, but to a lesser extent, and with greater tactility on each shot.
Ping Today
The Ping golf club is today popular among both amateur and professional golfers alike. This is partly because of its advanced, ever-changing yet dependable design.
These designs are what golfers recognize about the Ping golf club and golf sets. And if you have lost one of your Ping golf clubs you have no need for panic, because serial numbers are there to save your bacon.
In every Ping golf club, there are serial numbers which the golf iron has etched onto every Ping product. Have a need to replace one club? The company has precise specs at the time of construction of the golf set on file and can actually put together a new club to match your golf set.
Used Ping Golf Clubs on eBay
When you want to pick up a used Ping Golf Club on eBay, you might want to take the time to make sure that you are not being sold a bogus or a damaged and then re-made used Ping club. Remember the price often begins low on eBay and then goes up as the auction progresses but there are times when you can snag a great used club at a good price. All you have to do is take a few basic precautions.
First, when buying a used Ping golf club on eBay you should make certain you request the serial number. The serial number is the key with Ping used clubs as it will inform you when the club was made, the original ‘dot’ color, the category of shaft and other very important details about the used club, which includes factory customizations.
You can call Ping with the
serial numbers and they will tell you all the important details.. If things don’t match up with
what Ping tells you, stay away from that used club and find another deal.
How do I decide what Ping golf club color code is best for me?
What I would do is to go into one of your local Public Country Clubs and ask them to help you with Ping's "Color Chart" You might also go to one of the big Golf Chains if you live near one, (like Nevada Bob's). Once you get fitted either buy it from them or if you are thrifty, you can then buy them on eBay.
You want to use their fitting cart- you can find one locally- I traveled to find an outdoor fitting center, because I wished to see my ball flight. getting the proper code will make a huge difference in your game.
Ping Driver
What does the spot colour on ping golf clubs mean?
The dot color on Ping irons refers to the lie adjustment of the clubs. Every Ping iron has a colored dot found on the club. Most are found on the hossle of the club. A black dot refers to a standard lie. A red dot refers to approximately 1 degree flat and so on.
You might want to check out the Ping website...theres a chart and suggestions for players based on their height , arm length, and size of hand in order for them to fit a player uniquely with proper clubs... each color indicates a lie angle, (where the club sole lies against the ground when addressing the ball) the correct lie angle will improve your swing results by creating more precise contact with the ball...

Hi Answer Man
Great Info...I like your pictures :)
To be a bit controversial I think Ping are a bit like 'Marmite is in the UK' you love it or you hate it.
I had a bad experience with a set of i5 irons and have been put off trying them again...it does cost lots of money to keep changing.
That said I have had a Ping putter in my bag for years.
Great hub
cheers
Steve
